  1. And don’t look now but our signature win this year isn’t looking as good any more either.
  2. Of course we’re getting 2022 Donovan Smith in Lubbock
  3. I love all the people trying to make sneak attacks with running starts only to wipe out on the slick floor as they approach their target. Also like the various tribes of Chargers fans - powder blue, navy blue, and Dan Fouts/Kellen a Winslow era blue.
  4. Hard to believe now, but in a year we beat OU, A&M, Arkansas, and Penn State, that was the most satisfying win of them all.
  5. Check the date on this tweet:
  6. Scruggs and South officially threw in the towel on Wingo. CB’s to Mizzou.
  7. Kobe Black, Solomon Williams, and DeAndre Carter get us just outside the current top 5 on 247. Anyone I’m missing that we have a good shot at? Mack and Filsaime seem like real long shots. We’d be right behind ATM at 276.70, so they’ll drop out, but others will move up.
  8. A Blue Ribbon Panel! It is fun to watch the realization creeping in that Jimbo is not the guy. They really thought he was the missing piece to get them a national championship, they spent more money than anyone ever has to hire him (and extend him) and now in year six they’re right back where they were at the end of Sumlin’s tenure. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, one must have a heart of stone to watch the Jimbo story arc without laughing.
  9. Yep, the personification of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Totally misplaced and unwarranted overconfidence in himself.
  10. Jimbo might still be getting payments on his eleventy-first birthday.
  11. Really? You wake up Sunday morning and apropos of nothing decide to log on and announce your pessimism about the rest of the season?
  12. Interesting, had not seen that before. Sucks because he seemed like a great talent.
  13. The question I have about Neyor is whether his limited PT is due to him not being that good or that his knee just isn’t fully healed and they don’t want to push him when they have such a strong starting WR corps. If it’s the latter, then I think there’s a good chance he’ll be back because he could have a year as a featured WR next year.
  14. This is all correct. The Tennessee OL should be better than it’s been all year and it was pretty good against South Carolina when they had these players back. They will hold their own against the ATM DL, not dominate it, but will give Milton time for some deep shots. Whether Milton and the Tennessee WR’s can connect on those is my biggest question.
  15. And that’s why a silent commit + $4 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
  16. Someone said it on SEC Rant but I think it may be true - ATM has not won a true road game (not including bowl games and neutral sites) against a ranked opponent since 2014. I think it was Auburn, who was 7-1 at the time and ranked #3, then proceeded to finish 8-5. If there was another one since then I couldn’t find it.
  17. It could be argued this is a must win for Tennessee as well (although not for Heupel). They’ve still got Bama and UGA to play and if they want any shot of getting to 9-10 wins they need to beat ATM.
  18. Does making a shit ton of money count as an accomplishment?
  19. Rod Babers pointed out in the post-game livestream that everybody on the defense but Gbenda saw this play coming and that Williams was bumping the coverage to everyone else but Gbenda never took his eyes off the QB.
  20. I strive to not seek out future sorrows so that I can get a head start and start experiencing them for a longer period of time. My standard in the preseason was 10-2 and an appearance in the Big 12 Title Game. That’s still on the table and given the state of the league still appears more likely than not. I’ll just wait to see how things play out before deciding that we’re not getting there and being miserable about it.

TIL that a 63 point loss in year 6 of a coach’s tenure is the same devastating loss as a blown lead in year 1 and 7 point loss in year 2 to a team that played for the national championship.
  22. They had been missing their center all season before the SCar game and they played a lot better with him back, rushing for 238 yards. Their RT also didn’t play in the UF game due to suspension, so their one loss happened without 2/5 of their o-line. It’s not an elite unit, but a good one when they have all their starters, which they will next week. Also worth noting that they have some very good pass rushers at Edge that should get after Max Johnson. The biggest question for them is Joe Milton. If he plays well, Tennessee will light them up. But he often does not play well, and I’m not sure if Tennessee can rely on the running game to carry them through. As we saw yesterday, however, the veer and shoot can give even a strong d-line problems if you haven’t played it before.
