  1. Yep, the personification of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Totally misplaced and unwarranted overconfidence in himself.
  2. Jimbo might still be getting payments on his eleventy-first birthday.
  3. Really? You wake up Sunday morning and apropos of nothing decide to log on and announce your pessimism about the rest of the season?
  4. Interesting, had not seen that before. Sucks because he seemed like a great talent.
  5. The question I have about Neyor is whether his limited PT is due to him not being that good or that his knee just isn’t fully healed and they don’t want to push him when they have such a strong starting WR corps. If it’s the latter, then I think there’s a good chance he’ll be back because he could have a year as a featured WR next year.
  6. This is all correct. The Tennessee OL should be better than it’s been all year and it was pretty good against South Carolina when they had these players back. They will hold their own against the ATM DL, not dominate it, but will give Milton time for some deep shots. Whether Milton and the Tennessee WR’s can connect on those is my biggest question.
  7. And that’s why a silent commit + $4 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
  8. Someone said it on SEC Rant but I think it may be true - ATM has not won a true road game (not including bowl games and neutral sites) against a ranked opponent since 2014. I think it was Auburn, who was 7-1 at the time and ranked #3, then proceeded to finish 8-5. If there was another one since then I couldn’t find it.
  9. It could be argued this is a must win for Tennessee as well (although not for Heupel). They’ve still got Bama and UGA to play and if they want any shot of getting to 9-10 wins they need to beat ATM.
  10. Does making a shit ton of money count as an accomplishment?
  11. Rod Babers pointed out in the post-game livestream that everybody on the defense but Gbenda saw this play coming and that Williams was bumping the coverage to everyone else but Gbenda never took his eyes off the QB.
  12. I strive to not seek out future sorrows so that I can get a head start and start experiencing them for a longer period of time. My standard in the preseason was 10-2 and an appearance in the Big 12 Title Game. That’s still on the table and given the state of the league still appears more likely than not. I’ll just wait to see how things play out before deciding that we’re not getting there and being miserable about it.

TIL that a 63 point loss in year 6 of a coach’s tenure is the same devastating loss as a blown lead in year 1 and 7 point loss in year 2 to a team that played for the national championship.
  14. They had been missing their center all season before the SCar game and they played a lot better with him back, rushing for 238 yards. Their RT also didn’t play in the UF game due to suspension, so their one loss happened without 2/5 of their o-line. It’s not an elite unit, but a good one when they have all their starters, which they will next week. Also worth noting that they have some very good pass rushers at Edge that should get after Max Johnson. The biggest question for them is Joe Milton. If he plays well, Tennessee will light them up. But he often does not play well, and I’m not sure if Tennessee can rely on the running game to carry them through. As we saw yesterday, however, the veer and shoot can give even a strong d-line problems if you haven’t played it before.
  15. He’s wrong about that. Arkansas has won the West at least twice.
  16. I get @Pato del Muerto ‘s point and it’s probably not wrong. But if it’s the case that the boosters are just pot-committed to Jimbo and chasing good money after bad, then yesterday’s result shouldn’t make any difference. That was the worst Bama team since Saban’s first year there, and ATM couldn’t beat them yet again, at home, largely because of coaching malpractice rather than a huge talent discrepancy. If anything, watching that game might make someone think that the right person (cough: Urban Meyer :cough) could take the talent that’s on campus already and get over the hump with it.
  17. Gotta say, that last guy had it right. This was the year to win the west given how bad the rest of that division (and everyone outside UGA) looks. They’ve got some real talent. Hopefully they shot their wad this week and Tennessee jumps all over them in Knoxville next week.
  18. It’s the boosters who will fund the recruiting efforts that Jimbo needed to impress with this game. If going 1-5 against Bama convinces them that he’s the guy, then they are people who have more money than sense.
  19. Not really much of a gamble for Jimbo personally. He loses and they fire him, he still gets about $75 million in buyout money. Why not push all those monopoly money chips into the center of the table?
  20. This thread better Czech itself before it wrecks itself
  21. Such a big weekend for season momentum. I remember two years ago about halfway through the second quarter when it looked like we were going to run OU out of the Cotton Bowl and I had already priced in the Aggies losing to Bama that night. That didn’t work out so well. I like our chances to flip the 2021 script this weekend. The Aggies will still probably end up 8-4 like they did that year, but we are going to leave no doubt to recruits that we have passed them as a program.
  22. I mean, they’re paying Jimbo less than Mel Tucker, so . . . advantage Aggie?
