  1. CTJ also said Texas was not going to lose Simmons over NIL. From what we know, if we are going to blow our NIL wad on anyone this cycle, it’s for Simmons. This kid seems to be big on personal branding and maximizing his NIL potential, and the opportunities in Austin are going to be much better than in Baton Rouge.
  2. Sorry if it was mentioned already but Jalen Catalon is a full go for the start of camp.
  3. Look, we’re really not in a good position to determine the credibility of purple18 until we know whether he’s been to Charleston and what he thinks of the hot ass quotient there.
  4. Has there ever been smack talk over “who are the real Bulldogs” between UGA and Miss. State? Or “the real Tigers” with LSU and Mizzou? Have Miss. State and ATM ever fought about who wears “the real shade of maroon?” Has there ever been the battle of “the real OSU” that wears black and orange? It’s not like we’re going to have a loser leaves town match with Tennessee over this stuff.
  5. Oh well. At least we got Robinson this week. If you like smaller college towns where everything revolves around the football program, then Clemson is a good place to be.
  6. Could be that Wiltfong is just backing up his 247 team on Gipson.
  7. Florida should be penciled in to beat Tennessee every year until Tennessee starts a modest streak in this series. Since Meyer took over this one has been almost automatic even when Tennessee has the better team. Maybe Heupel changes it, maybe not.
  8. That’s what we need to really get this train rolling. There was an LSU screenshot saying he’s not coming to their pool party, so maybe?
  9. Downside of Tennessee getting Mike Matthews yesterday is that their chief competitor was Clemson, so that might free up Clemson’s budget to up the ante on Gipson.
  10. In some indirectly good news for us, Tennessee has a lot of confidence that 5-star WR Mike Matthews is going to commit to them at 7 pm EST tonight. That should push Ryan Wingo our way some degree.
  11. That Children’s Hospital will just have to wait a few more years.
  12. Guess Gerry was right about the visits to ATM and LSU meaning he is speeding up his timeline (unless the commitment date he announces is signing day).
  13. I knew his Dad was heavily involved but didn’t remember that about him. I just remember that Nolen was unstoppable when properly motivated but that wasn’t often. The Collins/McKinley thing seems more of a “nice kids from good families” thing which speaks well for their future in life, but isn’t what you typically see in dominant defensive linemen.
  14. The desire to be a computer science major at UT is a dead giveaway. Thinking of Walter Nolen? He gives me Albert Haynesworth vibes.
  15. Seems like another data point that McKinley may be Alfred Collins 2.0.
  16. The similarities of Texas and Tennessee since the late 2000’s are eerie. The only difference is the one year of Kiffin. They both had a longtime coach who was a great recruiter, not so great game day coach, who out talented everyone but would lose to a big rival (OU and Florida), then both got over the hump and won a BCS Championship. They both passed their sell by date and were ousted. Skip the Kiffin year. Strong and Dooley had the identical record in their respective three years. Butch Jones and Tom Herman both gave the appearance of a return to prominence before imploding. Really hoping Sark doesn’t mirror Pruitt even though their records for their first two seasons are identical. Sark seems to be handling everything off the field light years better than Pruitt so far. I think you got a good one with Heupel, possibly a great one. He really reminds me of when Spurrier hit the league in 1990.
  17. From what I’ve heard, this was just very low level cash and benefit payments on a widespread scale with incredible sloppiness. The total figure I’ve heard paid out over two years was $60,000 to 16 players and their families, making up 200 separate violations. This is the kind of shit that was done at every place Pruitt worked before Tennessee, those places just had a better infrastructure for keeping it under wraps. It all looks very petty when compared to the new NIL landscape.
