  1. Ewers looks like he’s a NFL QB who has come out to play with the neighborhood kids in a pickup game. The atmosphere hasn’t phased him at all. Even his mistakes have come from being too nonchalant.
  2. I think I might finally be able to relax.
  3. I cannot believe we are going to do this
  4. Got dammit, 21 point leads are not safe in this game!
  5. Gerry Hamilton said flat out on the On Texas Football live cast yesterday that this is a “must win” game for Sark and I have to agree. This weekend is where it all went south for us last year and never recovered. If he can’t beat a clearly rebuilding and floundering OU team that likely doesn’t have their starting QB, recruits just aren’t going to buy in on the direction he’s taking the program. I hate that we are here 17 games into his tenure, but that’s where we are. He’s being handed a golden opportunity today and he needs to seize it.
  6. I’m trying to remember if we rushed the field after the A&M game that season? It was a huge win because we hadn’t beaten them in a while and it won us the conference but it was an early game and they had probably stepped up security after the UH result.
  7. Don’t try to weather the storm. Be the storm.
  8. Tommy Ford! My “Introduction to Coaching Football” instructor when I was at UT. 1990 game against UH for me, but there weren’t a lot of home highlights during the McWilliams era. When have fans rushed the field since that game?
  9. Hopefully it will even out since the Big 12 has reason to want to punish both schools.
  10. Everything looks great this morning, thanks @immamac!
  11. I thought he was referring to the manager of the Phillies that won the World Series in 1980
  12. They will throw King out there to get slaughtered by Bama, then start getting Weigman ready over the bye week to start against SC. Start selling the fans on the hope for next year.
  13. I had been meaning to jokingly ask earlier this week if Pete Thamel had told us yet whether Quinn was starting, but there it is.
  14. He’s right, ESPN journalists much prefer the values of . . . The University of Alabama
  15. Steve Ross tells the story about this game, which is one of the first he covered. Supposedly when Randy McEachern came in after the first two QB’s got injured, he tried to give a pep talk in the huddle. One of the senior offensive lineman snapped at him, “Just shut the fuck up and hand the ball to Ear!”
  16. Thank you. So ATM has locked themselves into paying a coach $95 million with the hopes that he will accomplish something no other coach in history has. Advantage aggy.
  17. I can remember seeing Beetlejuice, Last Temptation of Christ, and Sea of Love at the Varsity. Lots more at the Dobie Theater like Heavy Metal (not in first run) and Near Dark. The historic house at the corner there of W. 22nd Street and Rio Grande that was a frat house back then is now a Starbucks, surrounded by a huge condo building. New Austin in one picture. There used to be a Moon Tower in the adjacent parking lot but that’s gone too.
  18. Auburn fired Chizik 2 years after winning the MNC, so I used the other examples because they had a longer, slower decline, similar to what we’re seeing from Jimbo post-2013. It brings up another good question - has any coach won his first and second national championships 10 or more years apart? Because that’s what the Aggies are betting on with Jimbo since he sure isn’t winning another one this year. The further you get out from that first one, the more it looks like an outlier.
  19. That protocol is fucked. There is no way in hell someone who took a concussion like that should be playing a week later in a girls’ soccer game, much less a sport where teams are trying to do that to you on every play. After what we saw with Tua are they really going to throw him back out there so quickly?
  20. Whatever happened to Kevin Dunn? I knew he left the Horn to work at Morgan Stanley, but he said he was going to keep coming on the EGAT podcast with Paul Wadlington and he never did another show after that.
  21. True, perhaps it’s more like if Tennessee gave Fulmer a 10 year guaranteed contract after he won the SEC East in 2004.
  22. If I was an aggy, and thank the Good Lord I’m not, I’d be putting all of my emotional wishcasting into Jimbo admitting defeat and turning over the offense to a younger innovative OC who will call plays. Then hope either Weigman or a transfer can run it. Ed Orgeron was able to do it, and 2019 LSU is what I’d be clinging to if I was a fan. Otherwise, they are in for a long stretch of frustration turning to apathy due to that ridiculous contract they gave him. What they should really be worried about is that Jimbo is Mack, Les Miles, or Phillip Fulmer post-national championship. Those guys never climbed back up the mountain.
  23. Is that cumulative for the season? Or the last week’s game? It seemed like we were getting a better push this week when we ran, and the YPC was not skewed by a couple long runs.
