  2. Emeritus is also a treasure. Thank you, sir! Those who have enabled the shame, the destruction of the grand experiment, DIAF,
  3. Okay. I laughed. But, you know, evil. Also, I expect turnip’s decree has no legal weight, as I imagine that a law establishes the requirement for 24/7 nurse presence at a nursing home. And the companies that operate those homes make money. Lawyers will make money. But, the elderly will suffer.

  9. Eldest was sideswiped and the traffic ahead forced him to try and turn onto a side street. He crashed half a block into that street. Daughter called the cops. Showed them her damaged car. The perp was driving someone else’s car. Buda cops didn’t do shit. I couldn’t even learn his name.

  15. My late uncle Red was mostly a far right nut. Much of his wacky worldview stemmed from his experiences during WW2, from being on the water in Pearl Harbor all the way through to witnessing the aftermath of Hiroshima. As a result he was a Holocaust denier, reasoning that using atomic weapons was so horrific, so immoral, that something had been manufactured to divert the world’s attention from the use of the bomb. But, for the rest of his life, he would, once a month, take a sign to some federal building in Louisiana, and protest. His sign read: “DEMAND DIPLOMACY!” That is why I always liked Red. He loved to cook and he loved fishing in the clear waters of Central Texas.
  16. My first thought was a riff on George Will’s piece, that Texas had become the moral slumlord’s whore.
