  1. Bed, Bath, and Beyond has to be familiar with DINKs, and, also, employed a racist. There’s video at the link. Racist bitch had no shame. https://news.yahoo.com/bed-bath-beyond-calls-911-184343248.html Also, wage theft by employers costs our citizens three times as much as shoplifting and robbery.
  2. The WSJ reported that DOJ fucked around for an entire year, refusing to investigate 1/6, because the DOJ was cowed by Republican rhetoric. (Crow, anyone)? Here is a link to an interview NPR conducted with the WSJ reporter. The setup is wuoted. https://www.npr.org/2023/06/19/1183098037/washington-post-journalist-on-fbis-delayed-investigation-of-trumps-role-in-jan-6
  3. This report struck me as odd, at the time. Now, it looks like the offering of an off-ramp. ST. PETERSBURG, June 17. /TASS/. The objective of Ukraine’s demilitarization has actually been mostly achieved, as Kiev is using fewer and fewer of its own weapons, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with RT Arabic. "Indeed, Ukraine was heavily militarized at the time when the [special military operation] started. And, as [Russian President Vladimir] Putin said yesterday, one of the objectives was to demilitarize Ukraine. In fact, this objective has largely been achieved. Ukraine is using fewer and fewer of its weapons. And it is using more and more weapons provided by Western countries," Peskov said. https://tass.com/politics/1634505
  4. I believe you. This Korean cream cheese garlic bread, though, looks legit.
  5. Gave it a listen. For my taste, I prefer this fiddle song about a city in LA.
  6. I would like to see a wind map for the Austin area from 7:45-8:05 last night. I’ve seen video of hurricane winds which seemed tame by comparison.
  7. Yeah. Nobody saw this type of weather coming.
  8. We got rain, in fact it is still raining. But the wind was spectacular, and when the rain stops, I’ll be clearing a good portion of a thirty year old pecan tree from our street.
  9. Starting to rain in the city of Hays. Cell is moving pretty fast, and the radar suggests a second cell will follow.
  10. I guess I should have included this paragraph, too: ”I knew that in chemistry, molecules with atoms grouped on the same side are labeled with the Latin prefix “cis–,” while molecules with atoms grouped on opposite sides are referred to as “trans–.” So, cisgender. It seemed like a no-brainer. I had no idea that hitting “enter” on that post would start an etymological time bomb ticking”
  11. Musk is an idiot. Found this interesting, from the person who coined the term: ”It saddens me to hear that people feel harmed by the word cisgender. Is the creation of the word to blame? No. Cisgender is just a straw man. It is easier to attack a word than to address the reasons people feel intimidated by discussions of gender identity. The word is a threat because it linguistically separates biological sex from socially constructed categories of “woman” and “man.” That gender is a social construction undermines heteronormativity, critical to defending patriarchal sex roles and procreation. It is not surprising that those who have garnered dominance and privilege from traditional gender roles feel threatened and compelled to lash out. These ideas are not new. But the word cisgender repackages them in a way that is more potent and visceral.” https://www.yahoo.com/now/coined-term-cisgender-29-years-133028924.html
  12. Then we are in agreement. You are raising “helpless, like a rich man’s child” offspring, am I right three boat psycho?
  13. Let’s start with executing traitors and fascists, and see how things go.
  14. Not much news from the bar hearing, other than the judge refused to allow Eastman to call a CPA as an expert witness. She wasn’t convinced the dude knew shit from shinola. The State Bar attorney chimed in to say the CPA hadn’t identified any actual fraud (in the book he wrote, I assume,) either. https://www.rawstory.com/john-eastman-disbarment-hearing/
  15. I read the Swiss are putting solar panels between railroad ties. We should be putting those things almost everywhere.
  16. Tell that to every person gunned down in a mass shooting, you psycho who thinks requiring training to buy those firearms is an infringement on his rights.
  17. Not in my day. Argyle only offered education through ninth grade. Carter was President when I went to the Jesuit hs in Dallas.
  18. Argyle schools used to celebrate Sam Bass Day. We got a half day off and an official mixed message.
  19. Getting old sucks. Teresa Taylor (aka Teresa Nervosa) has died of lung disease, her former bandmates in Butthole Surfers announced. The drummer and actor known for her role in Richard Linklater’s 1990 Slacker was reportedly placed in hospice last year. Taylor was 60 years old. https://pitchfork.com/news/teresa-taylor-butthole-surfers-drummer-and-slacker-star-dies-at-60/
  20. Folks who conceal carry, after going through the training and licensing required at the time, don’t concern me. Of course, those requirements are part of the past. Reinstating the training, and expanding it to include all hyper-dangerous weapons, those capable of more than three rounds without reloading, makes too much sense.
