  1. I am pessimistic, since Nov 5th. Most people who pay attention are pessimistic. So, this post’s focus is on the positive. The opposition is still fact based, and the majority is not. Reality will have its say. I don’t know which fool called the claim that turnip’s cabinet and staffers had predominantly cautioned against voting turnip, saying he was unfit for office, “fake news.” It could have been batshit @Balcones, it could have been the anti-Christian @Frank Drebin. Doesn’t matter, as both are going through life blindly, and neither will bother to learn what is true. Might have been posted, but for the record, the claim is factual. I have cited apneas and pbs. https://apnews.com/article/former-trump-officials-criticize-2024-e202861911ab37cadfcf058b5b163fb9 https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/former-trump-officials-are-among-the-most-vocal-opponents-of-returning-him-to-the-white-house The screw will turn, and when it does, job number one is divesting the oligarchs from their power, through confiscatory tax policy.
  2. Thanks. Both my wife and I enjoyed this video of him, at work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV0gJjYmrfs
  3. Anyone know the name of the metal smith in Pampa?
  4. I think religion plays a more important part than philosophy. The political philosophy of Texas has already determined that a human life is not worth the value of lawn furniture, after sundown. As for religion, there is no consensus. Striking the right to privacy, outlawing abortion in those states that have done so, is the establishment of a national religion, which goes against our values. Striking an established right does so, too. The cost of raising children compared with that of lawn furniture isn’t apples to apples. Any argument that the parent(s) assumed that cost goes out the window in cases of rape or incest.
  5. I believe the more moderate the church, the less they push back of the shittery. With exceptions, such as my friend Father Susan’s Episcopal church in St Paul. The more devout the church, again, imo, the more push back.
  6. There are thousands of churches in the USA whose congregations do not embrace the values @Brisketexan (rightfully) decries.
  7. I think he is talking about your ilk, those who claim to be Christian, but whose content of character is awful. I certainly think you give Christians a bad name, based on your posts, and would be willing to print out your posts and visit, with priests and pastors of the five largest denominations and seek their opinion on how well you walk the talk. My earliest ancestors arrived in the new world in 1715. That guys comments would make my ancestors skin crawl. I say this with confidence, as they were Quakers. Also, and it has probably been said, Texas secession would increase, not decrease, the burden of red taker states. Texas is a donor state.
  8. My most pressing worries are the protests that, as in 2016, will spring up across the country. The women in my life are passionate about their rights, and will be attending these rallies. They are all committed, because they believe in non violent, constitutionally protected speech. Turnip has already said that he will arrange a terrible and violent response to such protests. I will be cautioning my family, but my concern is real. I will likely feel obliged to go with them. Herding cats amidst tear gas, batons, metal shot filled “beanbags” and horses hooves.
  9. Even if Surly Rs do agree, it won’t mean shit. There are many issues with broad support among the masses. Because these posters elected politicians for whom working togather, for the common good, went out with Gingrich. Issues like immgration, as we recently learned, once again. Abortion is another issue. As is sensible sex education (I assume.) So is weed. These things have strong majority support. Compromise is not how minority rule works.
  10. Truces don’t work when one side will not agree to work together on issues on which there is cross the aisle agreement.
  11. Race to the bottom. Ready? Go!
  12. The days of not taking Sack seriously have come to a middle.
  13. IMO it is possible sun dodger is Ana’s sock.
  14. FL affirming choice, but not weed, is believable. Lots of elderly folk are suspicious of the devil’s lettuce, but senior ladies fought too hard for the right to choose.
  15. Yeah, that’s difficult to believe.
  16. Four Roses will do for me. In on six. MIL voted this morning. Ninety years old, and dressed in blue.
  17. Hey, Aillie, it’s 1111. Do your thing, from the other side.
  18. “They’re grown ass men. If they want to vote, get their ass to the voting place.” -Mrs WH
  19. When dealing with folks who have no integrity, I feel no burden to act with integrity. Agree. Then gut him like a fish.
  20. I am grateful that Selzer’s poll has afforded me enough hopium to not feel stressed since its release. I figure the worst case outcome will suck just as bad; at least there are a few days without gloom and doom. I was proud our youngest went with us to cast her first vote, and that the oldest drove to San Marcos, from San Antonio, to vote in her second presidential election. I need to be more mindful of wearing the Harris/Walz cap. Got my blood drawn today, and either I unlucked into the world’s shittiest phlebotomist, or the hat pissed her off.
  21. Thanks for your post. Cenk’s name does sound like that slur. I’ll take your word the guy in the audience was Uyghur.
