  1. ^^^^Good stuff. Now I would like to hear from a flat earther. How high do you have to get before you can see the entirety of the flat Earth? Which reminds me, yet again, how evangelicals (because flat earthers are most often evangelicals) love their neighbors by believing overwhelming numbers of their neighbors are part of a conspiracy against God.
  2. Those buggers are smart, indeed.
  3. Hey, asshole, here is what Snopes posted: ”The existence of a diary and the authenticity of purported facsimiles of a diary are two entirely different questions.” Negged. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ashley-biden-diary-claims/
  4. Unrealized gains which pass on to the next generation might not be taxed at all.
  5. If I learned my daughters chose to share their intimacy with the whole world, it would sadden me.
  6. Yeah, well, the first dam on Austin’s stretch of the Colorado was built in 1893, and it led to Austin being one of the first electrified cities in the US. Its failure flooded downtown. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/history/history-of-dams-in-austin/269-a8c54cb0-2394-49bb-87e7-94eeaac5a2d0
  7. The right is for peaceable protest, and within that structure, no I do not concede arrest is acceptable. Defending oneself against attack is another right I think we both insist decides legality of one’s actions, and not perceived attack by a bitch ass imagination. If the national guard attacks peaceful protestors, then Biden is no longer our standard.
  8. Sure, you’re right. Again, the burden of proof (of taking over buildings, or erecting tents) is on the state. Arrest those who do so, without stepping on the rights of others to protest. Disrupting classes? Only the disingenuous believe that protests do that. Stormtroopers massing to bring violence into protests? Yeah, that belies the sanctity of class time non interference.
  9. Maybe. I damn sure am the father of a young UT grad who went to one of the first BLM protests, and who was standing near the young man who caught a metal shot “bean bag” with his head, which entered his brain, and which was fired by APD while confronting protestors. Could have been my daughter. Exercising a Constitutional Right. Forgive me if authoritarian tactics piss me off, and I oppose them regardless of whichever side of the spectrum they originate. And so, now that my youngest is on the 40 acres, I expect her to be able to speak her mind, in public, without fear of jackboots and their sycophantic supporters.
  10. He is presumed innocent. Proof is on the state. Show us his tent.
  11. Interesting. I can’t deny there are people who use that group for the purpose you describe, but I don’t label the whole for the actions of the few. So, how do you choose when to throw the baby out with the bath water, and when to not do so? To explain my perspective, I remember active pushback during nutbar-right demonstrations. You know the ones to which I refer, and fascism is a fair description. That has defined my view of the group, generally.
  12. Yeah, I think the norks are run by authoritarians, and their people are fucked over by their government. If you want to pledge fealty to fascists, do so. I’ll assume you get confused by the disconnect between label and fact. Edited to ask if you think antifa is not anti-fascist, and if so, why?
  13. Push on a cop like that, don’t be surprised if assault charges are filed. Greta’s parents are anti-fascist, and some folks think that’s a bad thing?
  14. Better to yak sooner than die later. A buddy swears he has never found a boletus he couldn’t stomach, but he is braver than I. I have the opinion that when the shrooms bloom, en masse, the rainy season is done for the time being.
  15. Radar has underestimated the southward reach of this squall line. Maybe .3” west of Buda. Anyone else gauge the likelihood of near term future rain by the emergence of mushrooms?
  16. Something similar, yes. My quick search does not find me wrong, either, though particular jurisdiction might have some bearing.
  17. I assumed there was an oath of office required of LEO.
  18. Is it your position that LEO have a constitutionally protected right to make unsupported allegations that do the exact opposite of uphilding and defending the Constitution?
  19. Settlement? WTF?
  20. Racists have the right to assemble and spout their hate, but too often their protests are not peaceful. And the cops don’t seem as concerned when the no violence rule is broken as they do when the no tent rule is ignored. Go figure.
  21. Objecting to cops killing murderous dogs is as whacky as objecting to paying taces to feed the hungry and housing the homeless.
  22. Ah, youth. Zero point two,
