  1. Either pull up your pants, or stop digging.
  2. Both Manuel's left and right hands show exit wounds in both palms. The autopsy further reveals that Manuel was most probably in a seated position, cross-legged when killed," lawyers said in a press release. (From the article),
  3. Just saw one of those women speak: after cervical insufficiency early in her second trimester, her water broke. She had to wait until her body went septic before doctors could save her life. She now fears the delay has damaged her chances of carrying a child to term. She also mentioned another of the five plaintiffs, who lost both twins when the abortion of one of the twins could have saved the other. Despicable law supported by rock brained fools.
  4. Toll roads are the consequence of the lack of political will to spend public dollars on roads. Despite government designing, building, and maintaining roadways more cost effectively than the private sector.
  5. Shocking. The US government has sued Exxon Mobil for failing to address racial discrimination after multiple nooses were found at a worksite in Louisiana. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64842269
  6. No surprise. It’s in the playbook. “Michael Knowles—right-wing political commentator associated with the Daily Wire—said “for the good of society... transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely” at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday afternoon.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/michael-knowles-calls-for-eradication-of-transgender-people-at-conservative-political-action-conference Fuck you, Republicans. Fuck you.
  7. I guess nightmares are just fantasies for psychos.
  8. Sure, fascistic legislative fiat is already a fact. I was referring to the medical community, and what their consensus states. That consensus is spoilered, as it is redundant to this thread.
  9. The medical community’s best practices is not determined by right wing alternative truthers, who blatantly ignore relevant facts. Yet.
  10. Filthy pig fucking boot lickers.
  11. What a heretical megalomaniac. in other news, now there’s an attempt to exclude the vaccinated from donating blood. What could go wrong?. ”A bill to ban donors who have received the COVID-19 vaccination from giving blood will “decimate” blood supply in Montana and leave patients at risk of even death, said opponents of House Bill 645” https://dailymontanan.com/2023/02/27/bill-banning-vaccinated-blood-donations-would-decimate-blood-supply-opponents-say/
  12. No, I got you. Curious about the evidence this isn’t happening, though.
  13. You are up to criticize peer review studies, but stand by a position paper containing the above paragraph? Which implies threshold psychological examination has meaningfully been abandoned, based on the anecdotal evidence of two human beings? And ignores the strain that living a transgendered life entails, how it factors into the two mentioned concepts, and then gaslights others as unaware? Solid fail. Since these studies look at meaningful mental improvement as a desired outcome, what have you to offer by way of distinguishing between internal and external causes leading to a failure to achieve the desired outcome?
  14. I approve of these parents. When can I expect to see this guy at the Catfish Parlour?
  15. Had a similar reaction to the article. Starting with the stated percentage of detransition, which was not qualified by the percentage of those who detransition due to external factors, which is north of 80%. These external factors, such as bigotry and even disapproval, are listed in every study I have read, and whether and how this societal downpressing is factored into the conclusions is important to a clear understanding of the success of medical intervention. @Anastasis says he could design a study which would yield a conclusion, pro or con, free from the flaws of previous studies, and also free of a control group, which is a much more humane position than the JBM took. He could make an important contribution to trans health outcomes, and I hope he takes the time to do so. It would be interesting to learn how he would factor societal pushback into his conclusions. I could help by being part of the effort to find folks to conduct the study Edited to add the link supporting my assertion of fact: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8213007/
  16. Some replies suggested Biden squirms around while being measured, but I think he started adding that gelatinous cartilage stuff to his pho.
  17. I’ll say it again, the power a billionaire wields can easily become a threat to national security. Which we have seen over the past decade, as Thiel, et al, have fostered a credible quest for a one party, monarchical rule. If corporations are people, and can also be financially restructured into smaller entities, to promote competition and strengthen our economy, we can, and ought, break up such vast concentrations of wealth held by individual families.
  18. Yeah, these links focus on pain relief, and opioids are cheap. I remain curious about white demonization, in action. I don’t even understand how to search for examples, as I frame the issue with words I know will give me right wing nutbutter. I will add my take on how to make progress on the racial divide. We embrace our country’s values, and find pride in that Mexico’s culture is American (ie USA,) that Rhodesian, Vietnamese, Iranian, et al, cultures as American. that every culture is part of the social fabric of our immigrant nation. We ought celebrate this truth. Fucking revel in the canopy of the tree of Liberty whose roots reach every corner of our bright blue ball. And, we think carefully and examine diligently, how our systems and assumptions play out for all, and do whatever we can to ensure equality under the law. We see what links us all, as US citizens, and put that nationalist pride towards inclusion, and not exclusion.
  19. I think this thread is the perfect spot to post further examples of institutional racism. Please note, there are plenty of people who refuse to believe that institutional racism exists. I have posted, in other threads, supporting evidence that black citizens currently face discrimination in the accumulation of wealth, and in their ability to effectively utilize the right to vote. This post addresses another, major, aspect of a better life, and the institutional racism black Americans face in our healthcare system. ”Serious racial disparities exist in the U.S. healthcare system. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Black and Hispanic people receive worse care on 40% of the department’s care quality measures, Batten professor and social psychologist Sophie Trawalter told an online audience during the most recent installment of Batten Expert Chats. Trawalter emphasized the importance of paying close attention to that data. “The stated purpose of healthcare is to reduce pain and suffering,” she said, “and so to condone healthcare inequalities is to condone the pain and suffering of Black and brown people.” https://batten.virginia.edu/about/news/black-americans-are-systematically-under-treated-pain-why Edited to add: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMsa2034159
  20. No, I was pointing to proposed legislation currently making its way through the process. Legislation conceived and supported by folks on the alt-right, all white side of the discussion. While we might share a fidelity of intent, I was describing the perspective of folks who actually believe there is ‘white people are evil” subtext in diversity initiatives, African-American studies, women’s studies, CRT, etc. Other than the nonsense I see from alt-right sources, I am drawing a blank in this demonization of white people you mention. Perhaps an example would help me understand your second paragraph. I hope you saw the video where a guy details the difference between white folk, and white people.
  21. Inchoate false equivalencies are so 2016. “White folks are the real victims, dems are socialists/communists, and Dems want to take all your guns” was the laughable beginning to a point of view yet to be factually articulated on this board. Example: “white folks are inherently evil,” The only venues peddling that bullshit, effectively, are the GOP grievance media: Nevertheless, the message has been repeated constantly, to the point that the lying liars feel justified in criminalizing the discussion itself. The solution, according to the new right, is halcyon days where one shit heel can use racial and homophobic slurs, free of consequence, while another calling out those behaviors as racist and homophobic can face civil liability. There is no hope for meaningful communication as long as facts are not respected. The right did this. It is their stated plan, towards a stated goal of monarchical rule. Remove the log. Then let’s talk splinters.
