  1. The "Caldwell should starts" thread is semi-ironic. Basically, one is started every time there's a new backup. If Caldwell does start Saturday, undoubtedly there will be a "Lacey should starts" thread created forthwith. You might know this if you read the board for a little while before spewing diarrhea all over the place. Less is sometimes more. I don't expect you to understand this, unfortunately.
  2. Nice to see Baxter not on the list at all. If he's fully healthy it could help our offensive line to have a true power back to help set the tone early.
  3. Only the Sith deal in absolutes.
  4. I would disagree with this, at least with regard to the last two hiring cycles. For Chuckles we can blame the previous administration, including Steve Fucking Patterson who I knew personally long before he came to Texas, and who is a grade A asshole. Anyway, let's look at the two most recent hiring processes. 2016-2017 College football carousel Tom Herman was the hot name after the 2016 football season and Texas rapidly identified him as the man and moved swiftly to make the hire. (It was graded an A by CBS Sports at the time, just to give you a sense of how it was regarded). If you look at who else was available, the pickings were pretty slim. Matt Rhule would arguably have been a better hire, but his only experience at the time was three years as HC of Temple. The only other guy of the coaches hired that you that you go, oooh I'd like to have him is Lane Kiffin, who was hired by Florida Atlantic. At the time Kiffin was something of a joke, having been run out of USC and spending three years in Saban rehab. Bottom line: In retrospect Herman was not great, but at the time he was seen as a home-run hire and Texas' process allowed the team to quickly secure him after he went 22-4 at UH. 2020-2021 College football carousel If you go back and look at the names hired that cycle there are a lot of people who you say meh to, including Bryan Harsin (Auburn) and Bret Bielema (Illinois). Texas was by far the highest profile job that came open that year and the team had its pick. Among the alternatives, the only other names that make any sense in hindsight are Jedd Fisch (NE Patriots QB coach hired by Arizona) or Josh Heupel (hired by Tennessee from UCF). Texas would have lost its collective fucking mind if Heupel was hired. Again, given the choices at the time, it is difficult to argue against the choice of Sarkisian. In October of last year, grading in hindsight, CBS rated him the best hire of the cycle. So yes, by all means, spread all sorts of libel about Sarkisian, his wife, former UT players, and babies. Talk about all of his (alleged) drinking. But even in hindsight I would argue it is difficult to say that Texas hiring process is "fucked up."
  5. I say this with a modicum of respect. Please stop polluting threads with this inane, ugly, and frankly moronic AI spawned bullshit.
  6. Texas 45 Cowbell 5
  7. Listen, I realize the Kentucky game was an absolute beating to watch. And for a lot of us, this year has not gone quite as we imagined it. And yet. And ... yet. Do you realize that there are just six weeks of regular season college football left? And that the offseason and its 200-plus days without football lies just over the horizon? So yes, it's fine to not be excited about the game tomorrow. It's OK to have some existential dread about the offense. But you should not, for one moment, forget that this is the best time of year. Football games every day of the week. Cooler weather arriving. These are the times, my friends.
  8. Mid Manning makes mad money, but not may not make the playoffs because he can’t make a medium pass in motion or man-to-man; makes me melancholy.
  9. Maybe don't engage with his inane ass, and put him on ignore like the rest of us.
  10. Pretty sure you can Rhule off Penn State's list.
  11. What a gobsmackingly awesome weekend of college football. These are the good old days, boys. Enjoy!
  12. Yeah man I'm worried about their DL going through our OL like a paper knife through butter.
  13. Interesting article that I missed this summer, thanks for sharing bill. I must say there are no clear lines of leadership here. Who is in charge? The University president, Harroz? The "football chair" Stephenson who is hiring the next AD (but maybe wants the job)? Nagy, the GM? Skeletor, the coach? The next AD? That is a recipe for dysfunctional leadership. And when you layer on the blame game at the end of what is likely to be an 8-4 or 7-5 type season with a blow-out loss to Texas, it is going to be a bloodbath. Can't wait!
  14. Some of you people are such a fucking beating. For those who may not remember, the 2010 Texas football team went 5-7, with five of those losses at home. They were: UCLA 12-34 Iowa State 21-28 Baylor 22-30 Oklahoma State 16-33 Texas 8&4 17-24 Do you think this team, already with four wins, is going to lose five of its next six games? Do you see Past-his-prime Brown on the sidelines? Do you think Manning is Garrett Gilbert? If so, fuck off and don't come back. Seriously, go away.
  15. And this kid is still balling out for Texas. By far the team's best RB and was our most important offensive weapon today. Also supremely underappreciated by our fanbase.
  16. Hey fuckstick, he's a true freshman OT who is stepping into a difficult position because his football team desperately needs him. And step up he did.
  17. Imma's right. The majority of posters on this thread have a serious case of bitchass. Texas has played some lousy football so far this year. At times they've also looked pretty good. The reality is that, in almost all facets of life but certainly in football with unpredictable young men, things are never as good nor as bad as they appear. The OU game is a gift for the Texas football team (and its bitchass fanbase) after the dreadful showing in Florida last weekend. It's an opportunity to get right, to find their mojo on the biggest of stages, and to reset the table for the rest of the season. In an era of a 12-team playoff everything is still there to play for. We waited all offseason for a new football season. Now it's here, and it's the divine hour of our greatest rivalry. If you can't get pumped about that, fuck right off.
  18. If Chapel Bill is run out of town I will be disappointed (but not surprised). His ridiculous hiring and coronation; North Carolina desperately throwing everything behind him in terms of resources; the whole Jordan "I'm not a whore, we're really in love" fiasco; her trademarking of every dumb saying imaginable; hiring all of his dipshit sons as coaches; and his severe failings as a college football HC have been one of the great stories of the last 10 months. If he leaves, heaven help us, we will have to focus on Texas football again.
  19. Fun story from a local radio station in North Carolina, including interviews with the parents of current players. In summary, shit is getting real bad, real fast in the Research Triangle. WRAL Article:
  20. I'm rolling with Bobby Burton, who predicted losses to Ohio State and Florida before the season started. After that, he had Texas winning out.
  21. It's been a shitty day, but I'm happy for @Sbbruin!
  22. Our boy Bill is losing to Clemson, yes CLEMSON, 28-3 at the end of the first quarter. At home. Does he make it to the end of the season?
