  1. Yeah, no shit. Easterby can fuck right off.
  2. Benched due to poor play. Supposedly is physically healthy. Apparently he's pretty weak mentally.
  3. The only solace I take from that thread is that most of the mouth-breathers still blame Mond and not Jimbo.
  4. Big win by Texum Aggy. 1-0 in the best conference in the universe. Everything to play for. Beat a QB that may be a first round draft pick in a couple of years. Whoop!
  5. I love ... LOVE ... how they're rationalizing this as a "Sumlin recruit." Because Jimbo has recruited a band of brothers, or something.
  6. "Started all 13 games … Was second on the team with 73 tackles … Made his first start, making three tackles in the season-opening win over Texas State … Had five tackles at Clemson … Had a pair of tackles and a hurry in the win over Lamar … Made six tackles, including 1.0 for loss against Auburn … Had five tackles and a QB hurry in the win over Arkansas … Made six tackles including a tackle for loss against Alabama Had five tackles and a QB hurry in the win at Ole Miss … Made six tackles in the win over Mississippi State … Had six tackles, including 1.5 for loss, adding a QB hurry against UTSA … Made six tackles, 2.5 for loss, in the win over South Carolina … Had seven tackles, including 2.0 for loss, at Georgia … Made three tackles in the Texas Bowl win over Oklahoma State … Recorded first double-figure tackle game as he led the defense with 12 takedowns at LSU."
  7. Betteridge's Law of headlines applies.
  8. The kid can ball.
  9. Feel free to cite some data or a study to back up this claim that the virus is "weakening." The most widely held theory about this is that since more young people are getting infected, the overall death rate is lower. It is theoretically possible the virus could mutate to become more easily transmissible, and less lethal, but I have seen no concrete evidence this is occurring.
  10. He ain't come to play schooler.
  11. UNC going remote is a huge deal.
  12. Sorry for bringing information on threats posed to CFB in 2020 in a thread about dangers to CFB in 2020. One would think we are all invested, to one degree or another, in college football since we're on Surly Horns.
  13. It's possible -- and hear me out on this one -- that scientists studying new diseases will learn things in the months following the discovery of the disease, and its impacts on growing numbers of patients. It's a problem for college football because we've seen, in other sports including MLB, this problem occur in otherwise healthy athletes. So while the vast majority of kids who get COVID-19 will be fine, there are growing concerns about its effect on the heart and potentially other organs in the human body.
  14. The Surly docs will be along soon to tell us this is nothing to worry about, I am sure.
  15. Ladies and gentlemen ... Clay Travis has just saved the season. Just kidding, this is just going to further politicize a difficult decision that's already been made. Yay, culture wars?
  16. This is a HOT take. Unfortunately what it misses is that those are all pro sports leagues. It's not about the NCAA and University AD's being inept, although there is a fair amount of that to be sure, it's about putting thousands of student-athletes in a risky situation for which they are not being compensated; not having the resources to test them; not having the power to compel them to live in a bubble; and not having the financial resources to deal with years a resulting liability due to COVID-19 complications, etc. And masks are a big deal. If the background reservoir of the virus were not so high, some of the risks mentioned above would be lower, and more tolerable.
  17. Looks like Aggy’s 2020 dream schedule is going poof. Time to begin the hype for The King and his merry band of fuckwits for 2021. Lots of losable road games next year.
  18. Yes, if there's one way to bring unity to an issue in this country, it's for Donald fucking Trump to tweet about it. Travis is an unbelievable moron.
  19. Assuming you actually care about a rational response, here you go. If we actually had rapid and accurate testing ... you could test players with confidence before and after games. Unfortunately we can't even accurately test governors who are in the presence of the president. The kind of thing that competent governments do is respond to pandemics with things like a comprehensive testing plan. With tests you have information, and with information you can act. The experts you denigrate were indeed giving mixed messages back in March, and yes, they made mistakes. But later in the spring, as evidence became clear, there remained ambivalence on masks from some local, state, and federal leaders. It's pretty simple, if the nation had masked up we could help bring R0 below 1.0 across the country. However it's become part of the culture wars, and so instead of controlling the spread of COVID-19 this summer we've seen dramatic increases, particularly in the south. Here's a good overview of how anti-intellectualism, among other things, allowed COVID-19 to bring America to its knees. We probably should have had harsher lockdown for a longer period of time. This, followed by widespread mask usage, likely would have brought the pandemic under control and brought us back to some sense of normalcy by now. Instead we're talking about canceling fall sports and in the middle of some very, very difficult decisions about the extent to which we should open up public schools this fall.
