  1. This shouldn’t be a surprise. Trump has the Senate he needs to confirm replacement cabinet members.
  2. Dems gained House seats. No disagreement. But Dems are going to need a candidate that can counter weight Trumpism in 2020. I would have felt a lot more confident in the Dems 2020 chances for the Presidency if we had seen some of these big statewide races go to the left. It would have made the path to defeating Trump look easier after tonight. However, it appears Dems still have a lot of hard work in front of them. The wrong candidate in 2020 could leave the US stuck with Trump for an additional 4 years which I was hoping would be inconceivable after tonight.
  3. 2016 proved popular vote doesn’t matter. Electoral college count is what matters in Presidential race. Florida still looking very red. TX looking very red. Dems have to find a path that leads them to EC victory in 2020 vs Trump. It’s not clear that tonight has revealed that strategy.
  4. Still appears that Trump has major appeal in statewide races. Tonight appears to be an indicator that Trumpism will still be very much alive and thriving in 2020.
  5. I don’t see the purple. The statewide races appear to all still be Republican winners. Hard to imagine 2020 being better for Democrats with it being a Presidential election.
  6. Beto did well but just a bit short apparently.
  7. Kobach going down in Kansas is a surprise.
  8. Voted this afternoon at Shriner building in Austin. No wait. Took longer to vote then get the access code.
  9. I don’t get out of Austin much, but had to go up to Georgetown yesterday. Saw 3 Cruz yard signs in one small neighborhood. 0 Beto signs in said neighborhood.
  10. This right here. Dems need to stay hyper focused on their healthcare message.
  11. SPX down 94 at the close. That will leave a skid mark.
  12. Being a climate scientist today must be incredibly depressing.
  13. There really doesn’t seem to be anything else to add to this thread. Dems should take the same advice. Get back to talking to people about issues and how they can be helpful. They can revisit the SC if and only if they succeed in a massive blue wave.
  14. Heard this on Bloomberg news yesterday. This likely won’t have a happy ending.
  15. Collins could have sped this whole process up by announcing last week should would vote “yes”. Nothing in the past 7 days impacted what she said today.
  16. I don’t see Collins switching to a “no vote” 30 hours from now. I still think this is a done deal for Mitch.
  17. Collins sounds like a yes vote this morning. Flake sounds like a yes vote this morning. Kavanaugh is going to be confirmed.
  18. What is the upside to back stabbing McConnell at this point in time ?
  19. The Turtle will bully his way to getting the necessary votes. The Week delay for the FVI was a cover for Flake being able to step in line with the GOP. Collins can be bought off. Kavanaugh is going to be confirmed.
  20. Is that a prediction that Democrats will support this agreement ?
  21. Based on the timeline, will the current Congress review the deal or will the next Congress review it ?
  22. Republican base will love Graham’s fight.
