  1. Holy shit, we’ve got us a completely naive bumpkin who actually thinks recruits came to play for Kirby because of a pretty campus. Just to fill you in on a few details, you are conversing with people who actually receive reports on what exact dollar figures were/are paid by Georgia, Alabama and others to secure specific recruits. Texas had to sit back and watch this shit for years until NIL. The improvement from Mark Richt to Smart was due to the increased focus on cheating. It’s sad one of your rivals knows more about what’s been going on in your program than you do.
  2. Bravo! Spectacular post. The SEC built a conference with a few top heavy teams by cheating their ass off more than any other conference by a mile, scheduling pussies for non-conference games, manipulating bowl game schedules to their advantage, and lying about conference strength for years. The strategy worked really well until NIL leveled the playing field and Texas entered the conference. Georgia would be just as irrelevant today as they were for years if it weren’t for the rampant, extensive cheating and payoffs of recruits.
  3. I’ve been going to the TX OU game since 1982. I’ve seen over 35 of them. Only missed a few years. Went last year. It’s always been uncomfortable, but it definitely got pretty bad last year. So much so I decided to not go this year. But no matter how bad it gets, I would never trade that incredible experience for anything else. Some of the most amazing sports moments of my life were in that stadium. It was magical and legendary. They just need to add bathrooms, add ways to get more concessions, and fix some flow issues. It’s doable. Anyone advocating for home and home or movement to Jerry World can go fuck themselves with a Sooner dildo.
  4. Good point. With Dallas it’s all just hell.
  5. The other frustration with Dak is the predictability of his suckness. It’s a simple formula. Pressure him and he makes a mistake, either on the play when pressure is applied or on a series of plays where there’s pressure. He gets jumpy.
  6. Dak hell is worse than Quincy Carter hell. With Quincy you knew the pain would go away as soon as they could find another QB. Dak is the gift that just keeps on giving.
  7. They were fourth in the country in turnovers forced. They were 19th in points. While they were 27th in rushing defense, they were 5th in yards per rush. They are likely significantly better than the overall yardage defense ranking would indicate because they are saddled with an absolute garbage offense, one of the worst in the country. Are they elite? No. But they are pretty good.
  8. Sports talk radio during the week, and at one point during the TV broadcast, they referenced OU’s defense being ranked 4th in the country. I don’t know what measures that was based upon, but they aren’t a bad defense. I think people way understate the challenge of knowing where to go with the ball when your defensive opponent either switches up coverages a lot, or sits back with multiple safeties and dares you to run, which is what OU did a lot yesterday. Ewers wasn’t sharp and he continues to struggle downfield, but his ability to read the defense is very good, and for the most part short and intermediate route accuracy is very good. Texas still isn’t playing their best ball and is winning comfortably. If they can put it together this week they can spank Georgia.
  9. Their punter was better. They should have had him punt on first down every time Gabe is a moron. Ant Hill was incredible yesterday. Yup. I turned to my wife and said I haven’t seen a LB this strong at Texas since Derrick Johnson and Ant should be wearing 60. Gabe sucks.
  10. A few thoughts on the game. First, there was no way I was going to visit the game thread during the game. That apparently ended up being my best decision of the day. Second, Texas played well but with some mistakes. And they basically shut down the offense in the second half to establish the run and run clock. This score could have been way way worse. No reason to worry about Quin at this point. He could have done a lot more damage to OU if Sark had kept the pedal down, but he’s thinking about Georgia next week. Smart. As for OU, wtf? They chase away a guy who’s now leading Oregon to probably the B1G title. They replace him with a guy we all knew wasn’t a five star QB. But they treated him like one. Then, rather than develop him, they toss him aside for a true freshman that is nowhere near ready to play. This Texas defense was great, but that OU offense is a disaster. Georgia will be a much better gauge of the quality of the D. Overall, that went just like it needed to go. Bring on Georgia.
  11. One of the reasons I have a very open mind about the nature of the universe is that both my mom and I have a strange sixth sense. She used to sense events before they happened, and I’ve had a few of those myself. The strangest one was a few years ago when out of the blue I suddenly sensed very very strongly there was something wrong with my brother. I don’t talk to him very often but I texted him immediately and asked if everything was ok. I’d never done anything like that before. He said he was fine, so I just thought to myself that was weird. Well, a few hours later I got a call from the emergency room in Marble Falls. My brother had had a stroke and it started right when I texted him. That wigged me out pretty good. I’ve had other experiences like that as well. As a result, I realize there is a lot about this universe we don’t understand.
  12. Very logical thoughts. But based upon our understanding of the universe today. Given your decent grasp of the size and scale of the Universe, why in the world would you think that we, as you say in this backwater area of the universe, would have all knowing intelligence. Our understanding of physics, time/space, telepathy, and other relevant topics could be infinitesimal. Your whole argument about the massive size of the universe making alien visits impossible actually could make the argument for the opposite. We don’t know shit.
  13. Utah got beat again last night. Why is that relevant to TX OU? There were reportedly four teams last year that were video cheating like Michigan. Two have been identified: Clemson and Utah. Another potential team? OU because of Venable’s tie to Clemson. Michigan, Utah, and OU all look significantly worse than last year, now that there are headset communications. Texas ought to be able to be better today if they were in fact cheating last year.
  14. Have a very hard time believing that. Why does he think that?
  15. Wtf? Seriously? What’s the situation with 2025 recruiting? How many spots? I saw the two top recruits coming in for a visit, plus Fleming. I scanned the top 100 and saw more Ole Miss commits than Texas. Is the situation better than it looks? Football and baseball have their act together. Would be nice to see basketball get fixed.
  16. Perfect. Thank you.
  17. No it doesn’t.
  18. Oh shit. The iconic Longhorn logo is very likely a copyright infringement.
  19. This is sooo stupid. Hockey is a niche sport with a narrow following. Sticking the SEASON OPENER on espn+/hulu just ensures a significant portion of your narrow target audience can’t watch. And they do it on the opening game of their brand new Victory app! This is ridiculously stupid.
  20. You have to have ESPN+ to get this in Austin? What a goat fuck.
  21. what law or contract did they break that results in financial damages?
  22. Can one of our surly lawyers explain like I’m five why these lawsuits are able to go back in time for damages? The rules in place by the ncaa were based on voluntary participation in a sport in their league. Why are these lawsuits able to prove that anything was against the law by the ncaa? What is the hook the lawyers have used?
  23. I just bought one for an ear that went bad due to an inner ear disorder. I decided to buy a high quality one because my military buddy said the one he got from the VA was problematic. I chose the Oticon Intent 1. It’s $3k for each ear. But it uses AI to optimize sound in your ear. I’ve been extremely happy with it so far. I’ve had none of the issues otherscomplain about with theirs. My MIL also got Oticon Real, a previous generation design and she loves them. Phonak has a brand new one that is coming out that is supposed to also be hot shit. But it wasn’t available yet when I purchased. Spend money on quality. You wear them all day every day.
  24. Except for this brilliant observation, the rest of you need to relook at the thread title. It’s unpopular opinions, not dumb ass stupid opinions.

    Media Bias

I’ve seen this same sort of response from cloak room haters for 8 years now, including myself a few times along the way. And there is a bit of that. However, in this instance and frankly more often than not the people criticizing you are providing facts, nuance, and solid analysis, while the person who feels “persecuted” strikes back with propaganda, low effort wrong opinions, and garbage. Feel like you’re being attacked? Stop debating like a 10 year old. The people supporting Trump right now fall into three categories: a) uninformed, b) wanting to preserve their considerable wealth like Elon, or c) bad people (racists, nationalists, etc). That’s it. If you were truly informed there is no way you’d vote for him. He’s unfit to be President, just as his ENTIRE CABINET has said.
