  1. Fruit smoothies have a lot of sugar. Fruits do have some fiber which helps. Most people don’t completely drop sugary drinks, but the reason I have such a radical viewpoint on it is because a diabetic burns out their beta cells over time. Once that happens you need insulin. Today beta cells can’t be regrown. There is research to do it but it’s a long way off. The better you do controlling carbs, the longer your beta cells survive, the longer you go without insulin. The Mediterranean diet is the best diet for a diabetic. Most dietitians recommend Mediterranean as well but I wouldn’t eat quite as much carbs as the diet suggests. Limit breads, tortillas, starchy things like rice, potatoes and pasta. I’ve got 25 years not only as a diabetic but also started and ran a software company that provided diet software for diabetics and others
  2. Number 1 diet advice. Stop drinking any drinks forever that have sugar. Except maybe a few alcoholic drinks on occasion. No cokes. No juice. No lemonade. This alone will have greater benefits than anything else she does.
  3. Two 3 stars with track speed. Seems like Sark/Nans wants more speed on the field on D.
  4. If he doesn’t get his act together we could declare a fatwa and be done with him. I rarely recommend that as a solution, but he’s progressively getting more lame.
  5. The grill and the cheek kisses were dead giveaways that he’s a tone deaf moron.
  6. He totally supported keeping Pierce and now he’s trying to hide behind bs “standard” and “data”. Now he’s flipped. It happens.
  7. Late in the season you were firmly in the camp of saying he should be kept. What changed for you and can you please share that view with the delusional Balcones because his posts have become even more idiotic.
  8. Why can’t they run all of the classes, lectures, and university services out of a Chinese call center? They’d save a lot of money that way. And it would make foreign espionage much more efficient.
  9. Good grief dude. I think the people who frequent the recruiting board know that the Houston area has talent. I was referring to the Ft Bend area specifically. Come on, man.
  10. I can't follow every post in this thread, but had a question. Supposedly the Wall Street Journal published an article that the Biden tax plan would result in tax increases to 61% of the country. I think that has to do with not renewing the tax cuts that sunset in 2025. Does anyone have this article? It's paywalled. Also, I presume that Biden is running on a platform to raise taxes on a certain percentage of the country. Does his plan not renew the current taxes for a part of the 61% that would see an increase? Because if his plan doesn't reduce that 61% somehow, I'm not sure he gets re-elected.
  11. I just came here to post a very similar sentiment. I used to live down there and holy cow it’s aggyville all over that area. That area is starting to produce some talented players with good enough academics. If Texas could be more successful there that could be a great pipeline.
  12. I’m still not quite sure what’s going to happen. I’ve always thought the $1M+ market had lower negotiated rates in the past but they didn’t. Those wealthy sellers cared more about having a good agent than saving some money. It could be the same when the change takes effect. But, the sub million dollar market is likely to see some pressure. Home buyers will finally get educated and start negotiating the 3 percent down to 2.5 or 2 in some cases, and then the seller will price the home assuming they have to pick up the buyer agent cost. Everyone will be happy at 2-2.5%, I’m guessing.
  13. I’ve become very knowledgeable on prostate cancer. To echo others’ comments there are a tremendous number of different treatment options depending upon the level of cancer you have and the type of tumors. If possible you should get a Decipher test which will tell you how fast the tumors grow. And if your cancer score is low enough you might be able to go on Active Surveillance for several years without treatment. Conversely aggressive tumors need quicker treatment.
  14. Thank you for your application Mr Jarrett. Your hiring pitch was very well written, with excellent punctuation and grammar. The University will get back to you.
  15. Yes, I described it incorrectly. We have found historically that if 90%+ of people like something, we usually really like it a lot. It didn’t happen this time. It didn’t work for us with Once Upon a Time in the West either. Although days later that movie has definitely stuck with me.
  16. We are confused by the movie’s Rotten Tomatoes rating. We thought the movie was solid 80’s, but it’s rated 90’s. That wasn’t a 90’s movie to us.
  17. Very interesting view. I’ve only had limited interaction with the state. I dealt with the New Mexico State police a lot. I found that law enforcement organization to be pretty solid. It didn’t seem to be as corrupt or political as other State law enforcement orgs. Maybe I was shielded from it as an outsider from Texas.
  18. Yup. I’m trying to decide whether it’s always been this corrupt but now it’s out in the open due to the internet, or it truly has degraded. I believe the corruption is way worse and it’s sad.
  19. Several years ago before the Orange Cheeto made the political situation in this country almost intolerable, I had friends looking where to live in the country based upon political beliefs alignment. At the time, I thought that was crazy. Now it is almost necessary. Things have gotten that bad. Just give me the location with a bunch of moderates with great social programs and responsible spending that is consistent with fair opportunities and I’ll be happy. Which postage size stamp of the country is that?
  20. Come on man keep going! Make a prediction. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!
  21. You answered your own question in your response. The main plot line of the movie was completely made up. Heck, he didn’t even moonlight in the job, and wasn’t a college professor. The only true bits of the movie were the side plots of people he caught. I admit that I’m sitting here struggling to figure out a better way to describe how they’ve taken bits from real life and included it in the movie. I guess I’m looking for something besides “based upon a true story”. “Real-life bits included” “Some of this shit actually happened!” ”Its not all fake!”
  22. Correct. They did not formally fire Herman until Sark was clearly on the hook. However, it was known internally (except by Herman) that Herman was gone months before, regardless of Sark, Meyer, or anyone else ultimately selected. There was no process where they thought about keeping Herman if they didn’t get Sark or Urban. Herman was done.
  23. We have mixed feelings. There was really no point to making it “loosely” based on Johnson’s life. It deviates so far from reality that they should have just ignored that aspect of it. The pilot twists were interesting, but we were left at the end feeling somehow unsatisfied. It was ok.
  24. love the help. Trying to adjust with your input. Why do I have to get the car before Glasgow? We stay in Edinborough for a few days, take the train to Queens station and pickup a car at a nearby rental place. That way we don't have to drive an extra hour, since we have 5 hours ahead of us from Glasgow to Islay. We looked at other ways to get to Islay, but I didn't want to backtrack to Glasgow. Would rather just go direct from Port Ellen to Oban, which then requires a car. Really appreciate your thoughts. I have not spent time there before, although interestingly, I was 24 hours away from taking a job in Edinborough, site unseen.
  25. So spent the morning thinking about different ways to get from location to location, and while we aren't a hug fan of a ton of driving, it just seems that for Scotland and what we want to do, driving in spots is important, particularly up in Isle of Skye and Oban areas. So, we are thinking about taking the train from London to Ediborough, stay for a few days (mix in St Andrews, maybe play if I can get on the course), take the train to Glasgow, rent a car down to the ferry to Isle of Islay in Port Ellen, stay there and see my top three scotch brands right next to each other, then drive up to Oban via the ferry again, then from Oban to Portlee, then finally Portlee to Inverness where we will fly out to Heathrow. Roughly 14-15 days.
