  1. I usually hate bastardized basketball courts but I have to admit this floor looks cool as shit.
  2. Unless I’m misunderstanding his story, he wasn’t preparing the player and family for leaving. He was talking shit about them behind their backs to a bunch of donors in a group setting. That’s hardly high EQ. Even talking to individual donors about each player in a private setting would be fine.
  3. Helobious stacks another epic post on his illustrious crap heap of opinions.
  4. I may have this wrong but I don’t think Lange oversaw all content and video when he was here. It was my understanding Caten Hyde has that and Lange must have reported to him?
  5. Of the Top 10 recruits in the 2021 recruiting class, only Korey Foreman and Tommy Brockermeyer are possible busts. Eff the Brocks.
  6. “Should have removed himself from the situation.” Would you still have this absolute viewpoint if it was a woman who was the victim of domestic violence and “protected herself”? “The original story.” Ah yes the story. The police report. As I’ve said a hundred times on this website I’ve pulled evidence for tons of police cases and found that statements were complete lies and horseshit. Not saying she was lying just that you can’t take everything as fact. “Iron Clad Proof” No Derka doesn’t have ironclad proof. But is a police report or anything else we’ve heard iron clad proof? Nope. I think most of us, myself included, believe he probably did some things wrong and should have been fired. I just don’t think having an adamant view one way or another is reasonable. My position stems from seeing a few men get completely railroaded by lying females. I reserve judgement until more validated information emerges.
  7. This thread puzzles me. Almost everyone is adamant in their viewpoint that either Beard was (partially) responsible and deserved firing, or was possibly the victim of an abuser and thus shouldn’t have been fired. Anyone who takes a firm stance on this issue, either way, is wrong, in my opinion, unless they have inside information on the actual facts of the case. And here is why. Most are arguing that just because Beard ended up in an orange jumpsuit and/or hurt the reputation of the university, he deserved firing because the argument is he should not have put himself into that situation. That may be true. But it may also not be true. As Derka correctly points out, the courts, society, and laws have recognized the challenges that victims of domestic abuse must navigate. If he truly was a victim of domestic abuse, then you can’t necessarily automatically deem him in the wrong unless you knew all of the specific details of the situation. People lie their ass off all the time. Nothing you hear in the media is necessarily true. So stop acting like there are concrete facts. Conversely, he shouldn’t automatically get a hall pass either. We don’t know what really happened. At this point I’m assuming that CDC uncovered enough private information to deem him guilty enough to be fired. But I’m sure not going to condemn him or argue he deserved it. Because to do so would potentially ignore a domestic abuse situation, which would be very wrong if it existed.
  8. I had a quick question regarding Tenants in Common Accounts and probate. Hopefully one of the Surly lawyers can easily answer this. I realized that some of our main accounts are TIC instead of JTWROS, because we used to have a Trust that formed upon the death of one of the spouses, and moving those funds to the trust was required for estate planning purposes. We eliminated that trust a few years ago. But I realized that if one of us dies, a few of our main investment accounts will have to go to probate. In probtate, does that completely freeze the account from the surviving spouse? Are they not able to withdraw from that account, or change investments?
  9. Haven’t done an away game in a long time. I have a question about tickets. Back when I used to go I was Longhorn Foundation with pretty high points or seniority so I would always get tickets to any game including Texas OU. We dropped our season tickets during Covid and never picked them back up. For those of you without either season tickets, or maybe lower priority season tickets, how confident are you that you’ll find tickets to the game?
  10. Today we see: Longhorn vs Aggie. In some ways the two coaches embody the image of their schools. Shanahan is considered smart, creative, professional. Campbell is a lughead who stomps around like the Cro-magnan in a Geico commercial. But despite this, there is part of me that likes the non-conventional approach of Campbell.
  11. This team is poorly coached on offense and defense. On offense, it’s a simple 1:1 ball dribble with a few screens. It’s completely up to the player to win their 1:1 battle and score. That’s it. On defense it’s also a 1:1 battle. There is rarely double-teaming. Backside help is rare, coordinated switch offs to help are rare. That’s why the back cuts are killing them. It just points clear as day to the fact that the players don’t know where to go in certain situations. They’ve not been told how to recognize certain situations and react to them. I fear we are doomed.
  12. And…..Helobious takes the lead into the turn, but here comes BO&W! Helobious. BO&W. Helobious. BO&W. They are headed down the stretch, neck and neck. Which one is going to pull ahead at the finish?
  13. I may be making this up, but I swear we’ve seen several times the bond market go the exact wrong direction from news, then reverse shortly thereafter and go the direction they should. It might be just like earnings announcements on stocks. People sell the news, or cover shorts.
  14. So where and which spot DO we waste our anxieties? I need to know. I’m putting my schedule together for next week.
  15. What could it have been….hmmm… maybe because you directly quoted me? Seriously though, I woke up this morning with a massive headache and a horrific cough and was, one would say, a bit surly. ok cool, Hook’Em.
  16. That’s why I said it raises questions, rather than just saying it was less. I got my license originally because agents I dealt with were terrible and not worth the money being paid. So I get the general concept of trying to save money and being fed up with realtors. I only do deals for friends or friends of friends if I’m not busy with management consulting. Having been in the business for several years now, I learned many little actions and non-actions make a huge difference in how much money actually ends up in the pocket of a seller or how much a buyer has to pay. Or what quagmire of legal trouble one can find themselves in due to a incompetent rep. It doesn’t mean that 3% on a million dollar home is fair. It just means you have to be careful to not hire someone who ends up costing you money. It’s just like hiring a lawyer or accountant. You can go really cheap, and find yourself in trouble. The labor market in most industries are relatively efficient in terms of pay vs competency, notwithstanding major industry discontinuities like AI, etc. I have no idea if Pato maxed out. He may have done fine. Just like someone hiring a cheap accountant. They may do fine. What raised the question for me was .5%. At 1 or 2 %, quality realtors will often do that. Heck I agree to attractive rates for a lot for people.
  17. Jesus you’re apparently not smarter than this. You wrote an entire novel because you completely misinterpreted my post. I simply commented that I wouldn’t have an opinion on this hire just because Saban hired him. That didn’t mean in anyway whatsoever that I think it’s a bad hire. Nor have I anywhere in this thread said it’s a bad hire. I have no opinion on the hire. Take your sanctimonious bullshit War and Peace post and shove it up your beeper.
  18. If Sark decided to move on, it would be to the NFL. He is at an age where he still has a lot to prove, but could also start feeling a desire to settle down. So who knows. He obviously has to win at a high rate at Texas to be here long-term.
  19. Not really. Saban ran a system like a manufacturing line. He has written manuals for every position and many processes, so that he can plug any coach into his system. Now that doesn’t mean he doesn’t try to hire good coaches, or that they can’t contribute their own skills in his system. It just means that if he hires someone it doesn’t necessarily mean they are good. In his system they don’t have to be good. See Bill O Brien. See Wiggins.
