  1. The CR recruitment thread, of course it's moving fast. A reminder on RCP More evidence of shittiness
  2. “You’re trying to intimidate me right now!” groused Spadone to an officer who was standing there looking bored, if anything. Clearly not his first time at the hotel boozehound rodeo! “You trying to intimidate me right now makes you look like a fucking faggot, so, stop doing it. And we can be cool.” The officers let him go on. “Any of you guys wrestle? Any cauliflower ears? I can take all three of you guys right now. Easy,” said the guy built like a potato and several inches shorter than the officer he was ranting at. “All right,” shrugged the officer.
  3. Policy? You mean Project 2025? That policy? Yes, please let us have a wide ranging discussion of that policy program.
  4. I'm tempted to go look at what she had to say about Atwater and Gingrich. If she wanted civil discourse she should have said something about it back then. Did she have a problem with Cheney telling Leahy to fuck off? Nah, she doesn't get off that easy. You made the monster. Because it's uncomfortable and tawdry now you don't get a pass when Atwater taught you how to whistle. Time to pay the piper.
  5. I stared at the comment last night. I could either go on a longcat rant about how this is one of the worst signs of his overall sorriness or nothing at all. Just report it with some detachment. Because if I said anything it would be a screed.
  6. Trump doesn't like dogs. One of his go to curses for people he doesn't like is to call them a dog. This author says he hates them. Trump observed that Republican senator Marco Rubio was “sweating like a dog” at a 2016 debate. He compared former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman to a dog when she published her book Unhinged: An Insider’s Account Of The Trump White House. Trump noted that Republican nominee Mitt Romney “choked like a dog” against Obama in the 2012 election. At various times, NBC’s David Gregory, Fox News’ Glenn Beck and Ted Cruz’s communications directors were all, Trump leered, “fired like a dog”. https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/politics/article/donald-trump-dogs#:~:text=“Donald was not a dog, understood Trump's hostility to dogs. Of course he had something to say about Noem shooting her dog. “Couple of rough stories, there’s no question about it,” the former president said. “Until this week, she was doing incredibly well. And she got hit hard and sometimes you do books and you have some guy writing a book and you maybe don’t read it as carefully, you know. You have ghost writers do it, they help you, and they, in this case, didn’t help too much.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/14/politics/kristi-noem-trump-dog-killing/index.html
  7. Look at this. This is how you do it. The man gets it. We are getting on a bus. It's going to get us to our destination in the general vicinity of where we want to go. Get on the fucking bus!
  8. FULL-TIME RESIDENT OF WICHITA FALLS Don’t apply. It’s hard work living in Wichita Falls. Most people would rather be charged by rhinos. Wichita Falls surpasses even Waco as the pits. At least Waco has the Brazos River, the Texas Ranger Museum, and the Lone Star Tavern. Wichita Falls is next to nowhere and all it has is bad weather. Last summer people in Dallas wilted for 36 days under 100-degree-plus weather, but Wichita Falls had them beat by an average of 3 degrees and 17 days. It’s no better in winter—unbearably cold, and it snows. It also blows. The 1978 Guinness Book of World Records lists Wichita Falls as the spot where the highest tornado winds on record occurredo280 miles per hour on April 2, 1958. Barry Williamson, like Wichita Falls’ other 95,007 inhabitants, should get hardship pay. He’s lived there for almost all of his 32 years. “I escaped twice,” says Barry, “only to come back, like most of my friends. We must be crazy. The countryside is drab brown with sickly mesquites, the weather is unbelievable. I’ve tried to kick the habit, but it’s no good. Our city’s motto is “The City That Faith Built.” I have always assumed that it referred to some dark, masochistic tendency in human nature, and that appeals to me, like watching Howard Cosell. If a city could be a person, I guess Wichita Falls would be Howard Cosell, the city you love to hate.” https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/bad-jobs/ This was written before the bad tornado of 79.
  9. Some day shifts are better than others. @TexasHammer @MissingInAction said this is you. Are you going to eat a hat? I remember a lot of crowing from you in CR back at the old place. I expect the Hillary thread has contributions from you. Is it you? You can break out another name. The tobacco name series of one poster is a testament to how easy it is to get by if you don't come out of the gate with the stupid cranked up to 11. Enjoy your hat. edit: That's not the real Texashammer name. Hmm
  10. Who was the president when you turned 18 and how did you respond to them? That's the pertinent question for each generation. It's less about when you were born and more about how you feel/think at that point you are able to vote. Reagan beguiled a lot of Gen X.
  11. The problem I have with this is why did they pull him then? If this is Southern Strategy 2.0 then you let him keep rambling. But, they got him out of there because they knew it was awful.
