  1. ...which is a result from two political parties trying to game the Electoral College for decades.
  2. Everyone is going to absorb this result at their own pace, but if Trump was gonna win, this was the best way for it to happen IMO. Policy wise it will be a disaster for women and marginalized people, and I'm pretty nervous about foreign policy. But if there is ever gonna be a reconciliation of the people in American society, this is the shock to the system that can get the ball rolling. So Surly Trump assholes, do your thing for now. But let's all start talking like adults soon.
  3. Dismiss it all you want. This country has been broken for decades. When was the last time we had a Constitutional amendment?
  4. Yeah, I think it's unlikely to ever happen. But if you're looking for a tangible reason why we are where we are today, it's the Electoral College. And I would say the same thing today if Kamala had won the EC and popular vote.
  5. LOL, what a shortsighted comment. The EC has been the primary mechanism that has politically divided our country. It was a slow burn, but here we are.
  6. We should absolutely abolish the electoral college.
  7. Ok. Also I think it's important for Trump supporters to see how this plays out today and coming days. - Kamala will concede - Outside of the fringe, no one is going to say the election is rigged - You will see a lot of sadness, not violence. I hope they absorb this and reflect, however unlikely.
  8. With the understanding and concern for all marginalized people in the country, the only "positive" I see with this result is that it was clear and indisputable. The government and media are not going to unite this country. We're gonna have to do it all by ourselves, one conversation at a time. And grace will be needed.
  9. Clearly it's not just one thing, but hopefully the state of MSM, internet, and social media will be taken more seriously. People are consuming two completely different and fully separated sets of information.
  10. I said it last night, we are gonna be pelted with reasons why Dems have "failed" so people can deflect from their decision to vote for a con man and authoritarian. Don't fall for it.
  11. Goodnight, y'all. I'll be back tomorrow. The only good news tonight personally is I told myself months ago that I was gonna deactivate and delete Twitter after this election. Went ahead and did it tonight. Man, I've been addicted to it for almost 15 years. Will be better for my mental health and I'll focus even more on enjoying life with my son, family, and friends. Fuck you, Elon! Onwards.
  12. All the Republicans and Trump sympathizers are gonna blame the Dems for their "failures" instead of taking any accountability for their vote for a lifelong con man.
  13. True, but then there would have been a bloodbath primary that would have split the Dem party even more. 2020 primary was ugly, would have probably been worse this time around.
  14. So Jan. 6th was pretty much a nothingburger for past and present Trump voters. Wow.
  15. The only laugh I was able to muster tonight. That was so fucking stupid.
  16. This is it. The Monday morning QBing we'll hear over the coming months about political issues, what Dems did wrong, grocery store prices, etc...it's all bullshit. Those will be the rationalizations used to ignore the bigger issue: the American project has failed. Decades and decades of terrible decisions have split this country apart.
  17. Usually I agree that the Party is to blame when they lose. But the real problem now is the people and the information they consume and process. Network TV and newspapers maybe weren't always telling the truth back in the day, but Americans consumed it all together. Cable news, social media, podcasts, YouTube, etc. just split us all apart. With a a sprinkle of foreign interference on top.
  18. It's ok just to blame the American people at this point.
  19. The rural counties always come in first. So in metro areas that are Republican, they call it quickly. But they wait on states where Dem metro strongholds haven't come in yet.
  20. Respectfully, a lot of people need to log off or drink some water to ease the gummy panic high. I was hoping this thread would be informational, not hysterical. The dream scenario didn't happen, big fucking deal. Everything we need and more is still in play.
  21. STAY STRONG GEORGIA, FUCK THESE FASCISTS
