Fox News is practically considered liberal media to diehard Trumpers. They are watching further-right TV now. And also don't forget conservative radio. Lots of Michael Berry listeners out there (at least in Houston, don't know his national outreach). Then obviously the grifters on social media. It's a large scale coordinated attack built on shared beliefs: disingenuousness, amorality, and fake Christian values.
And he took another shot after he was physically in the clear. Amazing - but not surprising - that the argument from right-wingers is the only person that has any responsibility here is a citizen, not "trained" law enforcement.
There was always a positive argument for Arch playing at Newman, just like his uncles. Their teams were filled with 200 lb guys on the offensive line. Every Manning had shitty protection in high school and dealt with tons of hits/pressure. I'd bet anything they all think it benefitted their play and careers.
Yes! Some people have found favorable odds and capitalized, then the app started limiting those people's wagers to like $5. Also the odds are generally WAY WORSE on the betting apps. It's completely designed to take people's money, much more so than before.
I feel like I"m going insane. Are people just so distracted by so many other things that they don't see what's happening? I wish more in society could walk and chew gum at the same time. I always liked gambling a little money on sports. I liked the action and could always control my bets. But I have to admit the fact that it was a "vice" made it more appealing. Now that it's legal, anyone can do it, and it dominates sports culture, it's all off-putting to me. Especially knowing how many people can't control themselves and are losing tons of money. It literally affects the economy!
Well, yeah. I'll also add some blame on Trump/MAGA for the gambling epidemic. Fanduel, DraftKings, Polymarket, Valshi...wtf are we doing? We have become a lawless nation.
But coming back to this, this Demond Williams ordeal is a much bigger story if this drags on and isn't settled quickly . QBs are the hottest commodity, UW desperately wanted to keep him and he reportedly agreed to a $5 million contract. The stakes are high with this situation.
No, I was talking to a good friend before the portal opened last week and we were lamenting all the massive changes and the circus CFB has become. I know that Texas benefits from the influx of huge $$$ in the sport, but I still hate it. What made CFB special has gone away. I know change is inevitable, but these changes are a disaster and they need to start finding some band-aids.
Thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread where people can vent about what College Football has become and try to contain the negativity about it in here. I mean, WTF. This is all so fucking sad and disappointing. I'm glad players are getting paid. But not putting any guardrails on any of this NIL/transfer/Portal stuff was a HUGE mistake. I acknowledge that the sport hasn't been "pure" for a while, but these recent changes have completely destroyed what we all loved and grew up with. I know the TV ratings have increased, but I don't buy that as proof that CFB is thriving. If I had to guess, the massive influx of legal gambling over the last couple of years (particularly with younger people) has probably contributed to the ratings spike, along with the fact that football has become the holdover live TV event people will watch in this streaming era. I've been a huge Texas and CFB fan for 35 years. I'm not gonna stop, I'm too invested. But the future is bleak IMO. This dumb, practically lawless circus will catch up with the sport sooner than later.
