  1. After UNLV's games began, Cromartie contacted Cottrell and director of player development Hunkie Cooper. "They keep deferring -- 'We don't know. You have to wait,'" Bob Sluka said. "Then it was like, 'We're going to give him game checks.' So we're like, 'OK, great.' We did not ask for a single dollar [more]. At one point, we are out of pocket for him to be there, because his expenses to live there weren't even being covered." Bob Sluka told ESPN that Marion and the agents from Equity Sports agreed to a verbal deal back in the winter, after a recruiting visit where they spent most of their time with Marion but also met with the entire coaching staff. "We left there understanding that we were going to get a certain dollar amount for Matt to come there on the NIL deal, not a blowout number, but a reasonable, fair number," Bob Sluka said, adding that Matthew later received more than 25 NIL offers from other schools, including Big Ten and SEC teams, that were "four, five times the amount money we were willing to take from UNLV." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41438172/matthew-sluka-nil-dispute-unlv-hinges-verbal-offer
  2. I really appreciate what you do for Texas with NIL stuff, SurlyHorns, tailgates, etc. But that experience has absolutely nothing to do with Sluka and UNLV. Stop being such a know-it-all asshole.
  3. Maybe this situation ends up as an outlier, but my instincts are always to support the worker over the money/institutions.
  4. Being a clown idiot is why he's been this successful politically. That's the feature that attracts most of his voters. If he was a serious man he never would have even won a Republican primary.
  5. I hope we get an insider longform article one day about the disastrous situation with Arnold. What a huge fuckup by Venables, but I guess you can give him a little credit for cutting the cord quickly.
  6. Dear Kamala, Please put this man in a very powerful position when you take office, thanks.
  7. Not buying the hype that OU's defense is "elite". They gave up 300+ yards in a pillow fight vs. UH, who subsequently got shut out by Cincy this past Saturday. Venables is very familiar with Tennessee's offensive style, and when your offense is absolute dogshit and no threat to score, the opponent tends to play it safer on offense. Auburn has trouble moving the ball forward, so I hope and expect the OU defense to have another good day. I welcome the talk and hype of OU's defense vs. Texas' offense heading into Dallas.
  8. Fuck Silicone Valley, fuck AI, fuck tech bros. I hope everything they are "building" for profit right now fails spectacularly. Assuming we can end the Trump era, the next focus needs to be bringing down these AI assholes.
  9. Didn't know where to put this, but I'm listening to an amazing and riveting minute of openness from Bob Dylan.
  10. I've decided to believe that come Election Day enough people will vote Kamala for a significant popular vote and EC victory. At this point I can't be bothered by "good" or "bad" polls as it seems impossible to trust methodology or even the people they are polling. Would rather be optimistic heading into a make or break moment for this country and our society, since we'll have plenty of time (a generation or two) to be devastated by another Trump victory.
  11. The way political journalists have rallied around Nuzzi is not surprising but the newest example of the corruption in a major American institution.
  12. Feels like this is way too forgiving and dismissive. JD Vance is a piece of shit that wants to hurt people.
  13. Pinch me right now as I couldn't be happier with Sarkisian and his staff. It's a long season and we haven't really faced any adversity yet on the field, but I want to express my appreciation after we've been wandering the college football desert for the last 15 years. - I love that our Head Coach is also our OC/playcaller. There is so much turnover with coordinators around college football, and it can really stall a program when you the next guy doesn't work out. Look at OU's situation right now. Look at Kansas and others. We have the most player friendly and NFL ready offense in college football, and since Sark is the architect, the best HS QBs and offensive recruits will always want to play here. - We are handling the timeline with Arch Manning perfectly. We stress DEVELOPMENT and PATIENCE. And the public perception is important too. Nationally I think everyone respects how we're handing the QB situation. That rules. Haters wanted this to be a public debacle and controversy. Sorry, fuckos. - We have kept most of our staff together. My guess is Flood and Kwiatkowski are not guys looking for a HC job. Flood has been there done that, and it seems like PK is a lifer at DC. Maybe I'm wrong. Nansen looks like an amazing hire so far. We might lose Tashard Choice at some point and that will suck, but what a sweet job opening that Sark could easily fill. - Recruiting's been great. We used to lose out on the Ryan Wingos and Colin Simmons and Anthony Hills of the world. We actually develop our players, which is something we struggled with even during the Mack glory days. Texas football at this moment feels actually good for my health. What a world.
  14. If we're gonna lose, getting embarrassed like this is the ideal way. Feels like this team and coaching staff were very happy with the 2-0 start, and did little to correct the issues we had in the first two ugly wins.
  15. I'm just so happy we don't run that Veer and Shoot shit anymore. I don't care how effective it can be, it's so much more fun watching Sark's offense.
  16. OU defense really benefitted from being familiar with Tenn's offense and the uptempo. What Sark runs is almost a different sport. Not sure I saw a guy in motion last night .
  17. Just did a quick re-watch of this game. It was even uglier on second viewing. OU defense swarmed, I give them credit. Their secondary was not tested at all on intermediary routes. Arnold is a joke, but Littrell might be worse. 3rd and longs rolling out left. False start on their own 4 before a straight handoff out of shotgun that ended up as a TFL and safety. Really fucking stupid play by Arnold on that 3rd turnover, but I don't think that was a backwards pass and they got screwed by the ref's call on the field. Tennessee had some huge chunk plays, but Nico is still very raw. A better team makes them pay for those 2 sack fumbles. Heupel was incredibly conservative because he could be. Hawkins made some nice plays, but he is tiny. Fluky hands to the face on 4th down on their last drive gave them that trash touchdown and made his night look better.
  18. This was always gonna be a down year for OU, especially due to their schedule. You ship off Gabriel, hand the offense to Littrell and JA, then bench him when you go down 2 scores for the 1st time? It just seems like amateur hour with Venables. Very happy they extended him in the offseason.
  19. He carries himself like the biggest piece of shit ever. I was looking forward to us fucking him up this year.
  20. Venables benching Jackson Arnold at the end of the first half is pretty fascinating. Yeah, JA really sucks right now. I hope he sucks forever. But you tell Gabriel to take a hike to hand the job to Arnold, then bench him before your team even loses a game this year? The overall lack of confidence in him this quickly is pretty stunning. Either they fucking hate Arnold or Venables just panicked. Hawkins showed moxie, but Tennessee basically shut it down before he got them a couple of scores late. What a weird and terrible situation. I love it.
  21. Baylor's prayers finally answered. "No", says God.
