  1. I'm not happy about it or making excuses, but I think we just need to accept that is a transition year for Texas. Losing all that experience from last year's OL is clearly too much to overcome. Arch and Quinn are basically opposites with their QB strengths/skills and Sark's offense looks completely different. The transition has been rough and it's gonna take some time. I think Arch will be good but gonna take longer than we hoped and expected. Create a competition at RB to find out who can be the man next year. If no one breaks out by the end of the season than get a stud in the portal.
  2. I feel like the offensive struggles were dictated by personnel decisions before the game even kicked off. Trotting Stroh out there to start again was malpractice. What a disaster. That was a five alarm fire even in our cupcake wins and they ignored it. SItting Wisner for a few weeks and giving him almost every single RB carry against a tough Gator D? Not one touch for Gibson or Simon? Strange.
  3. Quinn would still be at the Gainesville hospital if he played yesterday.
  4. The decision to solely depend on Wisner with RB carries was dumbfounding.
  5. Some of y'all need to learn how to handle the liquor.
  6. The Trump administration considers Theo Von as an ally, so much so that they included a clip of him in a DHS deportation shitpost video without asking for permission.
  7. JFC. Just shitting words out of their mouths at this point.
  8. This is incredible. Never heard this version, thank you for sharing.
  9. Yep. These people are fucking with you. Lead, be authentic, don't cross the line in the sand, and embrace them into the fold whenever that day comes.
  10. Great post, Derka. We didn't root out the racism, bigotry, and misogyny. They just hid in their caves until it was ok to publicly think that way again.
  11. Javale! Always had a soft spot for him and drafted him many times on my fantasy basketball teams as a reserve back in the day. I saw him walking through IAH a few years ago and wanted to say hi, but he had that exact face on so I didn't, lol.
  12. I time stamped Bill Burry's comments on his Riyadh Comedy Festival performance. Completely leans in on whitewashing Saudi Arabia. I wan't some Bill Burr stan but have enjoyed him over the years. Bye.
  13. No. I know this has been an argument on Surly for a while now. Play their game and beat them. Do whatever it takes to win. No. We can't put a band-aid on this. This shit has to hit rock bottom and Trump voters need to willingly reject his horrific "project". If Dems start lying, it's definitely all over. The line is already in the sand, they cannot cross it.
  14. Agreed, this is the kind of shit that makes it feel impossible to get this country on track.
  15. My god.
  16. Was talking politics with a part-time administrative assistant in our office yesterday. She's probably early 70's, from a tiny town in North Texas, lovely lady overall. Grew up Republican, considers herself an independent, pro-choice, votes in every election. She has no idea what's going on in this country. ICE and National Guard stuff, Hegseth meeting with military officials, why the government shut down, etc. She says she can't stand Fox News or MSNBC, she occasionally watches the Sunday morning shows. She doesn't like Trump but not an automatic opposition voter. Was just a reminder to me that so many people are checked out or not paying attention to anything.
  17. Adams is just all around good vibes. I was pumped when we re-signed him.
  18. Caught this weasel off guard and look at how he responds.
  19. You're not wrong. The biggest fault of Klein's premise (doing whatever it takes to win back Republican voters so Dems are in power and can enact good policies) is believing the other side would sincerely give Dems a chance. Also trying to placate Republicans with disingenuous talking points will just bite you in the ass sooner than later. Coates is steadfast in his morality. It's fascinating to watch the dichotomy between these two.
  20. Didn't know where to put this but it's a conversation worth watching. The impetus for this discussion was Ezra Klein's article that was sympathetic to Charlie Kirk's style of politics shortly after he was killed. He and Ta-Nehisi Coates are friends, but Coates wrote an article criticizing Klein's piece. They discuss Kirk, but delve into a deeper discussion about how to get this country back. I respect Ezra Klein and think he's an intelligent guy, but don't agree with his premise on how Democrats can win back Trump voters. His blind spot IMO, is thinking that Trump voters are still gettable if Democrats meet them in the middle somewhere policy-wise. This is 100% a culture war. I think the only way they abandon and reject Trumpism is by undeniably getting crushed by his policies.
