  1. Thanks! The song is "Victory Dance" by My Morning Jacket. It's a slow burn, but always pumps me up and the lyrics feel pertinent. My favorite part was syncing up the Arch clips with the 2nd verse, where God (or a higher being) is talking to the main character: Hey there, I'm flying up above Lookin' down on the tired earth But I can see I can see potential Speaking through you, speaking to you From all of heavens possibility Power, hey do you know how it works? Hey do you know that the meek, they shall inherit the earth? But you should work, for the self and the family
  2. Easy excuse to extend the Surly tradition of appreciating this song.
  3. I edited this "hype" video weeks ago but wanted to share again. I can't fucking wait for this season. Optimal to watch with headphones on and a whiskey and/or weed pen in hand. Clips are strictly from Texas sports media team. Victory Dance.mp4
  4. The Taaffe family tree and their circle of friends have a lot of history with these summer camps. I can only imagine how many people they know who were deeply affected by this tragedy.
  5. Ol' Donny caught the Gheyscale.
  6. Swamp: DRAINED #MAGA
  7. Taaffe also has younger cousins that were two of the heroic counselors at La Junta . One is entering his freshman year at UT this fall.
  8. This is fake. Maybe that is already obvious, but in this world we live in now, it needs to be stated.
  9. The lady is an idiot and deserved to be fired. Say stupid shit, win stupid prizes. I'm sorry about your friend's granddaughter, a lot of us have been deeply affected by this tragedy and I understand your anger/frustration. That said, I'm not sure why this particular incident fires you up so much. Is it because she's a pediatrician, a job of stature and importance? That's understandable. Could it also be because she's a Democrat, and you expect more out of her? The reality is this type of trollish vitriol has been around for a while. I hope you'd feel that same anger (or more?) for the people in actual power who use compassionless words to hurt others who are suffering as well.
  10. Those are called drops.
  11. One administration literally campaigned on exposing the Epstein scandal and promised answers to their base, and now they are doing everything in their power to make it go away.
  12. This is the hope. These people really believed the “Drain the Swamp!” campaign promise and validated Trump’s candidacy early on. A lot of them are crazy, but they do have a backbone.
  13. I think most Americans (including myself) previously ate up the narrative that Israel were the good guys. A lazy assumption based on a lack of knowledge and the US government's staunch support all these years. The reality is the pain and death of this endless Holy War has created extremists everywhere in the region.
  14. The logic on the first option is pudding brained, but I love the chaos.
  15. The fatal flaw with this discourse is that it's still rooted in some sort of institutional integrity and normalcy. Trump's authoritarian power grows by the day. He owns the courts. He owns every single person in his administration. He owns Congress. He owns the media. He owns half the voters. Everything he's doing now with ICE and immigrants is just the starting point. American dissidents are next. If we don't take these realistic threats seriously, it's over.
  16. A Presidential assassination attempt on live TV was basically swept under the rug and memory holed by everyone. What a world.
  17. In all seriousness, the ability to talk about news/politics on here is important. Most of the internet is fucked now and social media has become harmful. Bots and algorithms rule the roost. But for all its faults, this site is filled with real people and real opinions. Sure we have posters who like to troll, but in general these are legitimate human conversations between people who have a united passion (UT sports). It'd be nice if we could all give each other some grace, but even without it, it's important to have this message board. I wish people would stop complaining about a medium we are lucky to have at this point.
  18. God, the @humblebrag Twitter account was so good. It feels like a lifetime ago. I just looked it up, the account was active from 2010-2015 until the user (comedic writer Harris Wittels) passed away in 2015. At the time it was such a fascinating phenomenon and harmless, funny criticism of human behavior. Now we live in social media hell with Trumpism, bots, and foreign bad actors. Fuck, we are fucked.
  19. Happy to see him break down that Mississippi State game. I don't know why - whether it was the terrible game flow and close score for 3 quarters, playing a shitty SEC team, or something else - but it felt at the time like our fanbase really didn't appreciate how good Arch was in this game. Mississippi State bled a lot of clock with 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense. But Arch was phenomenal, with lots of wow plays that we haven't seen at QB for a long time. The Johntay drop on 3rd and long (easy TD) was basically a turnover and still pisses me off. Arch played an A/A+ game, if it was a B+ or less the game could have been a nail biter at the end. I don't give a shit if it was against bad competition, the film doesn't lie.
  20. Must be the weed pen I just hit but I can't stop laughing.
