  1. Can't be a Tom Herman kind of asshole and have CFB success in the portal/NIL era. He's cooked.
  2. Yep, I deactivated my Twitter account Tuesday night. So I'm one of the followers you lost. Sorry. I can't do Threads or BlueSky. It feels like those were both created in response to the political climate on Twitter. We need someone to develop an app that can properly mimic what moderated and demonetized Twitter used to be 10 years ago, which had more of a focus on entertainment and laughs while also being a news feed.
  3. Completely agree. The Democratic Party needs to enter the 21st century and they should be embarrassed that Republicans beat them by quickly adapting to this modern, ever-changing world.
  4. I was a very heavy Twitter user for a long time. I get the idea of letting it roam free, but the results of that are only gonna get worse. And FYI, Elon himself and others get community noted sometimes. But a lot of the bullshit does not. Plenty of people have tried to community note clear falsehood to no avail. Factually, his algorithm skews heavily to the right. It also promotes violence (fight videos, footage of people getting shot and/or killed) and porn with zero warning or restrictions. The former will pop up in your feed uninvited. I'm assuming it's only gonna get worse.
  5. That's true, but the landslide victory this time around changes things. The Trump administration will have legitimate power with fewer checks and balances. I know some people that voted for Trump with the assumption (and hope) that gridlock would keep things pretty much the same. But that's not what the majority of his voters want. They want to see change. And the excuses not to do things might actually piss them off.
  6. Yes. He will be a 2nd/3rd rounder at best. Which would actually be the ideal situation for possible success. He's nowhere near ready, hopefully some HC with a good franchise sees potential and sits him for a year or two. He needs a lot of good fortune to make it in the NFL. His relatively slight frame and injury history will scare off most. If I had to bet on it, I doubt he ever sees the field as a chosen starter. He's made good NIL money and will be fine.
  7. I appreciate you bringing this subject up. It's fairly easy to assume no guardrails will be applied to social media during a Trump presidency. And I didn't hear any concern from the higher ups in the Democratic Party, so I doubt a theoretical Kamala presidency would have helped either. Even if you remove anything political on the app, anyone that has used and engaged with Twitter for a long time can see how much Elon fucked it up. It's not just one decision by him, it's a series of massive errors that have made it sooooooo bad. Monthly payments, blue check power, monetization, ridiculous algorithm, and no moderation. Sports twitter is a disaster. Entertainment twitter is a disaster. Reading replies is a worthless exercise and cesspool. The ads are for nothing but scams. Clearly political twitter is a disaster. Tons of #Resistance Libs posting stupid shit to rile people up. I won't tolerate a "both side" equivalency though. It's much worse on the right. Elon's idea of "citizen journalism" is an absolute joke. People openly lie for engagement and $$$. And most lap it up. We have free speeched ourselves into an Idiocracy. But I don't know the right answer to make things better.
  8. Cam has a ton of talent but needs to be more than just instant offense. Team is deep and we don’t need him right now. I’m sure he’s frustrated.
  9. Totally understand. Hopefully in time we can make it work.
  10. It probably wouldn't have moved the needle, but I always wondered why Dems didn't talk out loud more about the pandemic and inflation being a GLOBAL issue. And that we have fared better than most, if not all, when it comes to bringing inflation numbers down. Whether intentional or not, the framing of everything was that this was strictly an American issue. I know why people only care about what's happening here, but perspective is still important and that never broke through.
  11. That was not my intention. The hope for this thread also included a place to have civil, ongoing discussion after Trump takes office. Not that people couldn't challenge ideas or policies that could be enacted during his upcoming administration. Truce was probably a poor word choice. I'd like to have a place where we can discuss things with the temperature turned down.
  12. Not saying that. But they've had trouble finding a message to get consistent support. I think the major flip in this election confirms that problem.
  13. Even then, there was no confidence in getting support from the Latino community.
  14. If we're talking about Latinos, they are definitely not a monolith. And from what I understand, the Democratic Party generally acknowledges their trouble with connecting with Latinos.
  15. I don't know were #2 comes from. Feels invented by right wing media.
  16. I play golf almost on a weekly basis with my best friend's dad who is 30 years older than me. He grew up in Oklahoma, went to OU, huge Sooner fan, full blown Trumper. And I love him. He's a good father. He's an awesome grandfather who is attentive and always wanting to be with his 8 grandchildren. I'm close with all his children and their kids, all wonderful people (none are Trumpers, FYI). He's stubborn, passionate, and loyal. We couldn't be more different in many ways. He is many generations American, I'm a child of two immigrants from two different countries and cultures. We have many Texas-OU discussions and arguments, but always respectful. I know if I ever needed support or help in my personal life, he would jump at the opportunity and vice versa. We purposely rarely talk about politics, as it's gotten heated. But I realize he's all bark and no bite with a lot of these issues. We once had a calm and civil conversation, and a lot of what he genuinely believes sounds like something from a Bernie Sanders platform. Life is complicated. No chance I abandon our friendship due to politics.
  17. Also Frank, I've seen you mention narcissism from Democrats on other threads. I've been deeply affected by someone who I fully believe has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. It was not diagnosed by Menninger when this person went in for evaluation, but I think they just missed it. I made this discovery on my own through research, and a few years later I can confidently say it's been confirmed through my lived experience with this person. All of us exhibit some form of narcissism, there is a spectrum. And at least 6-7 types. My story involves someone who is a covert narcissist. I've seen some scuttlebutt about some loud political protesters on the left exhibiting a form of communal narcissism. I think it's likely there is truth to that. Narcissism in general is clearly on the rise, and it's a deeply harmful disorder that has massive psychological effects on their victims. I don't think it's talked about enough, and I know from personal experience there are not enough therapists and psychologists who are well informed about it or even looking for it. I could start an entire thread regarding this. Would you agree with me that Donald Trump exhibits all the forms of a classic overt (and most likely, malignant) narcissist?
  18. I think that's a fair question and concern. I would definitely lean on the former as well at first thought.
  19. For me, it's been different this time. I don't think Trump is a Republican. He's whatever he needs to be to acquire more power and influence. Bush, Romney, McCain...full on Republicans. The concerns were more ideological and represented the GOP. What scares people about Trump is the belief there is no ideology. He's a total wildcard. I know that's considered a positive by a portion of his supporters, but it's clearly not with people that have been against him, including myself.
  20. The goal here is just to start a conversation and go from there. Politicians are gonna politic. This thread isn't about them, it's about us.
  21. My question to Republican friends on here...care to chime in on this? If you want fewer abortions in this country, do you agree with the above being one of the acceptable solutions?
