  1. I was going to make a joke or tongue in cheek comment on this but it looks like I was 13 minutes too late and this post was already quoted like 4 times. I will say, my joke was going to be funny. A real shame.
  2. Seems you didn't grow up in Amarillo Texas.
  3. Yea it's cloudy and 70 in flower mound right now at 5pm in July. A cool north breeze. Feels like Oct-Nov Fuck ya I'll take it. Each day below 100 from July- August is a blessing. Looks like at least a week of below 95 degree temps. Unheard of recently.
  4. I hope this is the path that holds. Getting a good 2 or 3 days of soaking rain in DFW to cool off would be perfect
  5. I'm demoralized reading all of this. What a perfect storm for us to lose our democracy.
  6. Have a 2 week vacation lined up for the second half of July to mexico city so I'm hoping the next 2 weeks aren't ridiculous. Looks like dfw has a temperature break coming in 4 days too. Hopefully it lasts until.the 17th when we fly out. My tolerance has changed i think. I'll take this past June every year moving forward. Yes last week kinda sucked at right around 98-100 but it didn't feel oppressive to me. It's when it's 100 at 11am and 108 by 3pm where you'll hear me start screaming. So far so good. Hopefully I'll just be upset in August. I can handle 1 month a year of bullshit temps.
  7. I thought about that but I think Im just going to keep raising my wind/hail % deductible instead. I just want to pay a grand or so a year for the off chance the house completely burns down from some electrical BS or there is a direct hit of an F4 or F5 tornado. If my roof gets fucked someday from hail I may have to eat that and most likely hire someone to patch up the parts that need it instead of always trying to get a total roof repair paid for by insurance. As a home owner for the past 20 years, I have never filed a claim. But I have paid about 25 grand to insurance over that time. Moving forward its going to be ridiculous paying for the coverage Ive had in the past, even as recently as 2 years ago...
  8. Just now clicked on this thread. Didn't watch the debate. So fucking depressed. What a nightmare. I hope it was not as bad as what I'm reading here and more like a game thread after we go 3 and out on our first possession.
  9. This is next on our list for my brother and I after we beat BG3. We are both pretty excited.
  10. https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/13/weather/el-nino-la-nina-summer-forecast-climate/index.html El nino is dead. La nina coming fast and that means drought and heat for texas. I was hoping el nino would last another month so we could keep getting this rain but it's not gonna happen. Had really enjoyed the El nino weather so far this year in dallas. Well fuck.
  11. So pitchers in college softball can just throw forever? No inning limit? 200 pitches in 1 day, throwing both games of a doubleheader the next? What about tripleheaders? What if they threw 600 pitches in 1 day? They can throw the same amount the next day? What about a 1000 pitches in 1 day? Seems like that rule needs to change so that there is at least SOME strategy involved. I say that knowing we had Cat all those years ago and basically would do what Stanford did this year. Still seems like a shitty non-rule to have.
  12. My wife is from Mexico city and she says it doesn't really matter who is elected president right now. There is too much corruption in government and the cartels have too much influence. Reports yesterday in multiple cities of people trying to burn down polling places and obstruct the voting process. I hope she is strong enough to make real change.
  13. I really thought climate change would be incremental, like 'normal' food inflation prices at a grocery store. If indeed the ball dropped in 2022, it's been a sledgehammer so far. The last 2 summers have been hell and this summer looks no different. Home owners insurance on basically every coastal state has skyrocketed since 2022 due to wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, wind hail etc. Not to mention the ridiculous temps, both highs in the 105-109 range and lows in the upper 80s.
  14. Another whif on the forecast high today. Already 98 with 105 heat index and was supposed to be only 94. A bunch of fucking idiots.
  15. Feels like 103 in dfw. Its a sauna outside. I hope it dries out before Sunday
  16. What are all these people on questionable diagnoses going to do when the drug companies finish ramping production and the FDA takes semaglutide and tirzepatide off the shortage list? Is this how crack dealers work?
  17. It's here... today was the first morning since Sept where I sweated during my morning dog walk. While it's not oppressive, it definitely feels like summer in dfw now. Ac running a lot more. I think it's the abnormally high low temps that make it worse. A low of 77 over the next few days with high humidity means you never feel like you catch a break. I have a bad feeling our first 100 degree day is coming in the next few weeks. Hope I'm wrong.
  18. Definitely not as much into top 40 as I was growing up. Im 49 now. I guess I was probably around 40-45 years old when I noticed how little I knew about what the best songs and groups were. I still enjoy some of the hits that come out in all genres but not like when I was young. I'd say peak music listening for me was mid to late 80s. I was a taping off the radio with my cassette recorder fiend. I would be glued to Casey Kasem on Sundays. MTV, vh1 on all the time. Funnily enough my wife and I listen to the alternative radio station in dfw mostly now when driving. I like the new Taylor swift song Fortnight and that only came out 3 weeks ago. I'm impressed with her songwriting skills in general though. I liked the Morgan wallen county song, last night. That is catchy. But it's definitely few and far between, now vs when I was 16.
  19. The sequence to end the half, 8 points in 18 seconds was just ridiculous to watch. Wow. That can break a young team.
  20. Latest from noaa.gov. may 9 2024. La Niña may develop in June-August (49% chance) or July-September (69% chance; [Fig. 7]). Hold on a little more el nino. Do not want the high pressure la nina domes this summer.
  21. Don't go into healthcare. Patients can be... less than pleasant.
