  1. Never let facts get in the way of a good narrative.
  2. They're going to get so rabidly focused on this that tomorrow they're going to forget the first rule of 9/11, which is you never forget 9/11.
  3. If it was a right winger, they'll just say they were inverted, thereby making the right wing the left wing. /smoke bomb
  4. Just admit you were wrong. You spouted shit and it wasn't true. It doesn't mean you're a bad person or you did it intentionally. But any intelligent person can discern that gang violence isn't a broad term in any way, shape or form. We actually have specific laws in this state (that are in no way unique) that enhance crimes committed by criminal street gangs. It's not the same thing. It is something very specific. But call it "AI slop" (otherwise known as a useful tool for gathering information that disproved your suspect post in mere seconds) and pretend you didn't mean "gang violence" when you said "gang violaence" because you simply can't accept that you were passing along bullshit as truth.
  5. who are in the community, domestically. Jeez.
  6. Silly me for copying your post, which quoted Kirk's last words, into Google. Words have meaning, and it was fair to surmise what the intended meaning of "gang violence" was as used. Nice try.
  7. According to Google: No, the majority of mass shooting events do not involve gang violence; most mass shootings are linked to community violence or intimate partner violence. While gang-related incidents can be a component of some mass shootings, they are less common than those stemming from domestic disputes or general community conflicts, according to the U.S. Concealed Carry Association and Everytown Research & Policy Types of Mass Shootings Mass shootings can be categorized by their underlying cause, and these categories include: Community Violence: These events often occur among people who know each other and may be related to gang violence or drug deals. Intimate Partner Violence: These incidents involve a perpetrator targeting members of their own family. Public Mass Shootings: These are often thought of as random acts of violence in public, but they are less common than community or domestic violence events. Extremist-Motivated Shootings: Some mass shootings are carried out by extremists, often linked to white supremacy or other ideological beliefs. Other Types: Incidents can also be motivated by personal reasons, such as deep-seated grievances, or can be connected to criminal activity outside of organized gangs. Frequency of Gang-Related Mass Shootings A study by the Congressional Research Service found that events associated with criminal activity (which can include gang activity) and domestic disputes made up a large percentage of mass shootings between 1999 and 2013. However, research from the Gun Violence Archive and Everyday Violence suggests that mass shootings are more frequently linked to community or intimate partner violence than gang activity.
  8. In a semi-sane, slightly less dumb version of this timeline, the people of Charlie Kirk's ilk who, each day, grab the tiny shafts of their microphones and spew vile, divisive crap out into the ether, might take a moment of self-reflection and consider that, while they certainly have the constitutional right to say, with a few noted exceptions, anything they want, perhaps it would be better to be a bit more careful with their words, which, if said in public not so long ago (instead of on a podcast), might have resulted in a swift ass-kicking. Because that vile, divisive crap helped escalate the problem that ultimately resulted in Charlie's untimely demise, which is something most of us think is worth preventing and have been saying so for a long time. But in our actual timeline, said ilk will double down on the same brand of disgusting, divisive crap in faux tribute to poor Charlie and his young family, all the while happily gobbling up his subscribers and advertisers. It's going to be a vicious cycle of play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
  9. I thought we decided the shooter was likely former military, not fake army?
  10. She's a sweet girl and a good player. But I think she only played in three matches last year (so not sure if she is a scholarship player). She used to hit with my younger son when she was in high school and he was getting ready for freshman tryouts. Also, you have a near 8 UTR? That's pretty good for a Surly poster.
  11. It also might be that BCBSTX for State employees is not at this time.
  12. I got mine at Walgreens yesterday. They pharmacy tech said they'd been turning people away and I told him my BMI qualified me as obese and that should be enough. This guy was well beyond three bills. So I guess it's all relative, and he continued to work his way down the list of comorbidities. But in the end, he got me COVID and Flu shots lined up and into my arm. A friend went to CVS and got his no appointment and no questions asked. I was there earlier picking up a script for my kid (already had the Walgreens appt) and the tech was encouraging COVID and flu vaccines. So in this part of Texas, at least, CVS seems to be the way to go.
  13. It's a good strategy. Back when I was a much younger lawyer, I had some franchised auto mechanic charge me for a bunch of stuff that wasn't actually fixed. I sent a demand letter and was delighted to get a response from a large, expensive firm in Houston telling me to piss off. So I sent a settlement offer, knowing that this would at least require the big firm to consult with the client and respond (and bill them too much for the service). My goal was to keep engaging the big, expensive law firm until I was satisfied that they had billed the mechanic at least twice what his shop screwed me out of. In my mind, one way or another, that auto mechanic franchise was going to hand some lawyer its money. It only took one more settlement offer for me to get what I was owed plus a little more for my trouble.
  14. You're just lucky I opted not to use the gif with his giant ass gyrating.
  15. What do you mean? I was made to understand he's a huuuuge tennis guy.
  16. I think they're from Missouri. She's jailed in Kentucky. But we still can hope.
  17. I got mine today. But the Walgreens tech was dubious about my chances, saying he had to turn a lot of people away the day before. But the ERS version of BCBS apparently isn't trying too hard to keep people from getting the COVID vaccine. I looked at the tech, who was at least tree-fiddy and said, "Hey man, according to my BMI, I'm obese. That should get me there."
  18. She's not that kind of a girl, Booger. Now ask, "Why?"
  19. . . . to become the new Attorney General. /because animal abuse is a qualification
  20. Oh, a volcano man, I see.
  21. LOL. Homer reaction. And username checks out. This was just the perfect post. Thank you.
