  1. I love my LP Traditional. What year is it?
  2. Mostly likely Korea. They moved production from Japan to Korea in 1987. I had a Korean squire Strat in the early 90s, and it was a nice guitar. But the electronics were finicky and I traded it toward an American Standard in 1994.
  3. Apart from the obvious differences in fuel and vent control, what differences are you talking about, cookingwise? Are you talking about what to expect from different temperatures?
  4. Absolutely valid reason to avoid these. It doesn't bother me, particularly once I've been playing it for a about 10 minutes. It's just one of those things you either mind or you don't. I found it at Guitar Resurrection in 1996, bonded with it, and made a deal. It has one blemish to the headstock, which I put there when I was lifting it over my head to get the strap off and whacked the ceiling fan. Other than that, it's perfect. It was speculated to have been left under some kid's bed when he went off to Vietnam, and brought in for sale decades later. That's how clean it is. It has some indicators of 1969 (no dot over the Gibson "i", but the serial number says 1970. Probably an early one.
  5. I laugh when people dog on Norlin-era Gibsons. I'm sure there were some dogs, but there were some gems too. I've owned mine since 1996. So, twenty years later, when I read about the dreaded "volute," I was like, "What the hell is a volute?!?"
  6. This one is up there with TX/OU should be a home and home. Haunted
  7. Rain was pretty constant here for 12 hours or so. I took a little walk when it let up. Saw this on my walk. Here's some of the run-off. I assume this channel leads straight to Houston. If anyone in Central Texas wants to come figure out a way to divert it, have at it. On a serious note, I hope all of you get the power back on soon. Despite how tame it was here, ours decided to go down for several hours for no apparent reason. As an example of how light the winds were, we had a water bottle sitting on a patio table in the backyard that must be related to the blue shed. That sucker hasn't moved an inch.
  8. How does it play? I've got a 1970 Walnut-finish 335 and it's so "even-playing." I love it.
  9. Sorry to hear it. I have an uncle in Katy, who lost power in the middle of the night. No word if it's come back yet.
  10. Yeah, I just edited my post. Looks like we'll see things picking up over the next hour. The three areas of concern with tornados are northeast of Tyler heading northwest. Be safe over there.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I see "Warning" for Harrison, Panola, and Rusk (City of, not county), so Henderson, but I'll keep my eyes open. Radar shows mostly green and bits of yellow radar blobs for Tyler. More worried about the wife and kids. I actually work in a building with a cold-war era-fallout shelter in the basement. /edit. Looks like things are going to be picking up over the next hour. Thanks again.
  12. It's just been a steady sprinkle in Tyler since about 9 a.m. The wind has started to pick up, but just a bit. All the models had this going to the east of us, but the radar seems to have it coming straight for us, if only a bit to the east. There' a tornado watch but when isn't there? If your username checks out, I imagine it's a little dirtier where you are.
  13. We've been at Summer's Eve stage in northeast Texas for the past month (as far as June weather goes). We now have 36 hours of flash flood warnings. Hopefully, we can soak some of it up for you guys. But the tree roots already have too much wiggle going on for my liking.
  14. [CSB] I went to high school with Billy. He was a big weather nerd back then too. [/CSB]
  15. Well, I'm just hoping this thing weakens a bit. I'm in Tyler. It's looking like we're just going to be on the clean side of this one, but I'd rather it be a TD by the time it gets here. I just got my yard cleaned up from the freakish, straighline winds that came through here a month ago.
  16. At least the food is good. But still, I moved away from Houston 23 years ago and have no plans to return. I can love it from a distance and from higher ground. Stay safe. My people in west Houston have been without power since about 4 a.m. My sister had a generator on order, but was not scheduled for installation, at the earliest, until September (you know, around the start of hurricane season).
  17. Cross-posted from the Enchiladas thread.
  18. Yeah, the windows will be busted out. Technically, it will be open.

Sorry, but nothing good happens when OU wins.
  20. Nikita looks like Will Ferrel with a sunburn.
