  1. They clearly aren't familiar with Rummel v. Estelle, 445 U.S. 263 (1980), in which the U.S. Supreme Court held that the imposition of a life sentence without parole for fraudulently obtaining an aggregate of $230 (spread across three separate offenses) under the Texas recidivism statute did not amount to cruel and unusual punishment. If that's not C&UP, very little seems to be.
  2. Plus, if you want to leverage as much as possible out of him, you make him sweat it out a little closer to the deadline. I don't know if the Saudis (or Trump for that matter) is as concerned with appearances of impropriety or the need for secrecy as your run-of-the-mill sociopaths might be.
  3. Last week, I picked up at TC Electronic Vibroclone for not a lot of $$. Years ago, I had a Neo Mini Vent, which did about all I could ask for in a Leslie simulator. But it, for lack of a better description, laid a digital "sheen" on my tone I didn't love and was too easy to sell for the $$$ I put into it. Plus, it resulted in too much "Cold Shot." Anyway, I always wanted to have a cheap Leslie pedal lying around, with the idea that I would run a stereo rig with the B channel being just for Leslie tones so I could blend them or kick on the "Leslie" during leads for something interesting. I've got to say, for the $59 plus shipping I paid, this gets close. The drive knob is useful, and the slow and fast sounds do things convincingly enough. Down side is that there is no footswitch for slow/fast (just a toggle). But for the price, I can't complain. Now I just need a decent switcher that doesn't cost much.
  4. These are for liquids These are for solids. Although they hold the same volume, they apparently are not interchangeable, at least for baking. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/packages/baking-guide/difference-between-dry-and-liquid-measuring-cups
  5. I think in 2016, he had no interest in winning, thinking the grift was in the campaign. Then, he won and found out that he could just ignore the rules and be on the take while in office. So I think he was out to win in 2020 so he could continue the campaign take and the sitting-President take. This time around, he's got to win to see if he can contort the law into some KingsX immunity argument. So sitting at home and collecting checks from rubes isn't as desirable.
  6. I guess we'll see. I'm not one to argue that Elmo makes wise decisions with his money. As for the Saudis, he already owes them $540M (which they may have under their couch cushions). I just wonder when they decide to cut bait on Trump. Russia might decide it's easier to fuck with the election on the cyberfront than to contribute to Trump's gofundme. I'm just a spectator. And I will never play monopoly with the Saudi government, the Rooskies, or Elmo.
  7. Congress critters are cheaper and more bang for the buck. Trump is like having a hotel on Baltic Ave. A shady senator is like having 3 houses on the orange properties that everyone seems to land on.
  8. The whole text chain during the credits was brilliant.

I know. I have such a history with that album. I saw it early on and left it, figuring I'd find something else.

I went to a local record show today. I didn't end up with anything although the Ace Frehley Kiss solo album (since it was my first album (8-track)) was tempting. Really, at this level, it was like being in a medium-sized record store with way too many people. Glad I went. Wish I could have found a few things I couldn't live without. I did pick up Fela Kuti's "Zombie" last week. Highly recommend.
  11. It's probably been 15 years since I've been there and inedible about sums it up, but I'd add overpriced as well. Sounds like they've improved matters.
  12. Reversion to the mean.
  13. Ain't that the damned truth. I spent twenty-three years in Houston and four in Austin before moving to Tyler. And while I like Tyler and consider it to be "home," I'm definitely do not consider myself "from here." There are distinct differences between where I grew up and where I live now. But that's Texas for you.
  14. I haven't heard that the Mobberly location is any better these days since Bryan left to start Sunbird. Although I think, at one point, the Hallsville location was supposed to be decent. I live in Tyler and still haven't felt the need to try that Bodacious location. Also, if @GreenspointTexas is craving more BBQ in Tyler, the correct answer is to go back to Stanley's and get a Cadillac Clucker. I don't care how appetizing that Dickey's on the loop looks.
