  1. Harvey documented our walk this morning. It was a nice 3 mile walk, and Harvey crashed as soon as we got home.
  2. Finback, Three's Brewing, Strong Rope, and Wild East are all close, but I cannot comment on quality of beer/food. BierWax is a bar that is close, and would have excellent beer selection, but no idea on the food. If you are looking for dinner, closest restaurants I would go to are Pecking House and Sofreh (both on Flatbush Ave).
  3. Fall has officially arrived. The weather has been GLORIOUS. Harvey and I are headed out for a walk. Have not seen leaf changes yet, but expect to see them in the next couple of weeks as temperatures are finally getting to where they need to be.
  4. So my chili to today will be sans venison. I am doing 5 lbs (I make larger batches and eat on them for 2-3 days then freeze the rest). I am using 3 lbs of very, very lean grassfed beef, and then 2 lbs of normal grassfed ground beef (I think grassfed tastes better). I mixed a shit load of spices (other than the cumin) in with the meat last night, as well as some green chilies (for flavor), and let it sit, covered, in the fridge. Today, I will cook down one, large chopped onion until translucent, add garlic, then add the meat. Once the meat is browned, I use chicken stock and crushed tomatoes, then usually one or two small cans of tomato paste (all about taste at this point). I am also adding seasoning to taste. I use cumin, chile, cayenne, hot paprika, pepper, and a touch of salt (I am not much of a salt person), and again, am tasting to get the blend right. I do not measure anything. I am planning on doing jalapeno floaters more for flavor than heat (I like the taste of jalapenos). We shall see. I made a similar batch last year (though it was the venison/beef mix), and it turned out really well.
  5. I’m thinking about chili for the game tomorrow. I want to do a venison/beef chili. I’ve never used rehydrated chiles, and honestly, they are a bitch to find up here.
  6. I would grab a yello cab. Yellow cab to Manhattan is something like $75 not including a tip. Which terminal? This is important as there is construction, and ubers and other cars are restricted due to the construction. Terminal 8 (American and BA) still is at the terminal, but some of the others are bussed to a common area.
  7. It is on my list. My list keeps getting longer. Sigh.
  8. I have to have caffeine throughout the work day to function. I got about 6 hours of sleep last night, so relatively good for me.
  9. Le Rock in Rockefeller. You can get a 5 pm res and let them know you have a show at 7. The theater is 2.5 blocks away. Gallaghers is on 52nd and Broadway. It’s a short walk to the theater on 49th and Broadway. Kochi at 10th and 46th, again, get the earliest res and tell them you have a show. It’s a short walk to the theater.
  10. Already did this. Fuck Elmo.
  11. 1935 Labor Day Hurricane And these 42 have reached Category 5. Trump is an idiot. Water is wet. Here are the names of the estimated 42 tropical cyclones that have reached Category 5 intensity since 1924: "Cuba" - 1924 "San Felipe II Okeechobee" - 1928 "Bahamas" - 1932 "Cuba" - 1932 "Cuba-Brownsville" - 1933 "Tampico" - 1933 "Labor Day" - 1935 "New England" - 1938 "Great Atlantic" - 1944 Carol - 1953 Janet - 1955 Esther - 1961 Hattie - 1961 Inez - 1966 Beulah - 1967 Camille - 1969 Edith - 1971 Anita - 1977 David - 1979 Allen - 1980 Gilbert - 1988 Hugo - 1989 Andrew - 1992 Mitch - 1998 Isabel - 2003 Ivan - 2004 Emily - 2005 Katrina - 2005 Rita - 2005 Wilma - 2005 Dean - 2007 Felix - 2007 Matthew - 2016 Irma - 2017 Maria - 2017 Michael - 2018 Dorian - 2019 Lorenzo - 2019 Ian - 2022 Lee - 2023 Beryl - 2024 Milton - 2024
  12. I got both of mine on Saturday. This is now the third double I have gotten. Just each arm is sore. Nothing else. I love my Oura. It is depressing how little I sleep though.
  13. Sex isn't the only way to get pregnant. I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of those are through artificial means.
  14. No matter how much money Elmo has, he is completely repellent to the female of the species.
  15. Michigan losing not great. Sigh.
  16. Arky kicker pulls his groin on the miss. Lol.
  17. The announcers for the aggy game... No one is talking about aggy (talking about to win the SEC)... Didn't we all know Missouri was WAY overrated?
  18. Just here to say how sad this whole situation is, and I completely feel for the folks who thought they would be ok as they are far enough inland or far away from the storm's landfall (see Harvey). Chimney Rock State Park is where these scenes from Last of the Mohicans were filmed.
