  1. Double check what luggage you can take on the thing. You might be best off having your bags delivered. Last I looked, you were severely limited on the chopper on luggage, specifically weight. I live in Manhattan and fly in and out of JFK regularly. Most times coming home, it is 45 mins to an hour to my place.
  2. It was great 10-15 years ago (I last went in 2010), but there are MUCH better places in NYC. It is now a gimmick.
  3. Ilis was a gorgeous space. The food was very, very interesting. Lots of truffles and caviar. Will post photos when I get more time.
  4. Yeah, that number is way too low. But it is funny listening to a man try and explain how many tampons a woman uses in a cycle. Idiot.
  5. This right fucking here. This is the point.
  6. Napoleon was an absolute racist and completely erased a lot of the equalities black men had won during the revolution, reinstituting slavery in France after it had been abolished in the 1st Republic. His hatred of Thomas-Alexandre Dumas (father of Alexandre Dumas of Three Musketeers fame) is a hell of a fucking story. Also, Napoleon got his ass handed to him in Egypt.
  7. I am very glad to be not flying United. Since most of my travel is international, I stick to BA, which allows me a ton of flexibility. I have not sat in coach on an international flight in years. Having my home airport be NYC helps keep fares way lower than they would be if I were back in Texas. That helps a lot.
  8. That was probably Onboard before his permaban.
  9. This is @DalTxHornFan. @DalTxHornFan asks for honest discourse and debate, but has ZERO intention of that. Rather, he is a Trump/GQP fan boy who doesn't understand why we just neg and move on. Your shit is old and tired just like you are. TexAgs is much more your speed. Go post there. Congrats.
  10. It is called a tax on being a woman. Just like how health care for women is WAY behind that for men. But yeah, gotta make those little blue penis pills. Gotta love the misogyny some of the posters on this board flout on a regular basis. Pretty disgusting really. Why debate complete pieces of shit like yourself? There is zero fucking point.
  11. Average rent in Manhattan is above 4700 a month, for about 703 sq ft. You can find small walkups for less than that, but not in the best neighborhoods. And given subway and bus delays, being close in is important.
  12. Affordable apartments?!? And yeah, New Yorkers will tell you to move the fuck out of the way when you block the sidewalk, but generally, once you get us in a bar or a restaurant, we are pretty nice and easy to talk to.
  13. And @ocugolf has won the Thanksgiving edition of this thread. I am disappointed in the rest of us. We did not being our A-game.
  14. Having dinner tomorrow night at Ilis, from one of the Noma founders. Special Thanksgiving menu. Will report back. New York is a beating on restaurants. There are honestly way too many good places to go to.
  15. Went to Foul Witch on Halloween. Had the Sorana beans with salsa Verde, veal tortellini, and chitarra with Dungeness crab. Dessert was Habanada sorbet. Really enjoyed this meal.
  16. Check out Gallaghers, Keens, it St. Anselm. Last one is in Williamsburg. Sparks is solid as well. I also like Smith & Wollensky. best steak I ever ate in NYC is probably a tie between Keens, St. Anselm, or the Cote de Boeuf at Frenchette.
  17. Did you enjoy it? I want to see it again. Going to see Purlie Victorious tonight with Leslie Odom Jr. On Saturday evening, my friend and I are going to Ilis (restaurant in Greenpoint by one of the Noma founders). We dropped $390 a head (plus tax and tip), and that is before wine. We shall see. On December 1st, we grabbed tickets to the Roscioli takeover by Retrobottega, so that should be fun as well. Should have some good photos to post soon. Also if you are in New York, pop by the Alexander McQueen store in Soho (71 Greene Street), ask for Dwaine, and buy something, but only by November 25th as that is Dwaine's last day. My heart is sad, but my pocketbook is happy.
