  1. This. He is a troll. I just neg him and move on. His shit is tired.
  2. I think its simpler than that. We have a lot of people in the United States that say they are Christians, but dont follow the basic tenants of Christ's message ( love your neighbor, let he who is without sin cast the first stone, etc..), and maybe God is just sick of their shit, so God has gone back to the wrathful God of the OT.
  3. Any Dem, even Slick, is better than any Trump, JD Vance, or (shudder) MTG.
  4. First, I am not from Houston. I lived there for 12 years, but not from there. Second, there is no city in the US that is equally as expensive as NYC, and I'm not talking just cost of rent/cost to buy. Mamdani (spell his name right) has ideas, and some might not work, but he and Brad Lander were the only two who had specific plans to address affordability. Housing economics in NYC are a hell of a lot more complex than any other city I've lived in in the US and that includes Austin, LA, New Orleans, and Houston. But since you don't live here, take your hatred and hostility of Mamdani and stick up your ass.
  5. They should. That might cause a meltdown of epic proportions that would maybe cause a massive stroke.
  6. The stupid in this thread is astounding. New York City is the most expensive city in the United States by a long shot and one of the most expensive in the world. Affordability is an issue for everyone except perhaps the top 1% (you now have to make a million or more a year to be in the top 1%). And the NYT is very much in the fuxking wrong on this. They are running hit pieces to help Cuomo, a guy who fucking hates NYC.
  7. Agree with ole Troy. But I also layer in the state as well. The state licenses these camps. It is pretty obvious there were failures at Mystic, like lack of disaster preparedness, lack of communication, or just plain incompetence. A competent state government would revisit licensing rules and regulations specifically as it comes to disaster preparedness for sleepaway camps near bodies of water. But we all know the state is a bunch of fucking idiots, so nothing will change.
  8. Just a check in on how Kerr, Kendall, and Burnet counties all voted.
  9. So, instead of using the emergency management system, they are using X. That seems like a problem.
  10. I've driven over that bridge.
  11. Former director of TDOT. Explains the incompetence.
  12. This. I went through multiple events in Houston. I had weather radar on constantly and was physically checking things around the house every hour. I was lucky and had no flooding during the worst, but I was hyper vigilant.
  13. All sleepaway camps in Texas have to be licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Seems like a pretty common sense regulation to require camps with or near a body of water to submit safety and evacuation plans every year as part of maintaining their license. And it seems like everyone that works at the camp should be drilled on those scenarios.
  14. The reality is NOTHING is going to move the needle. It doesn't matter how many children are lost. That is not CR, that is reality. Period.
  15. Seems like Texas officials have been failing for the last 25 years or so. It's expected at this point.
  16. So, people ignored it. We saw this happen during Harvey.
  17. Julie is a cunt. I am not on Twitter anymore. Is this crazy one of the paid for a blue check idiots?
  18. Saw this in a Houston Chronicle article.. Marcel Reed..lol.
  19. Just wow. Between her and MTG, Georgia isn't bringing their best.
  20. Texas is in the finding out stage. Hurricane season will see more states that voted for Trump fully entering into that stage as well.
  21. I most recently used 817k Marriott points for my stay in Venice. My room would have been over 1,200 Euros per night. I got a suite upgrade because of my status, and that room was something like 3,500 Euros per night. I am basically st the point where if a room is less than $700 per night, I just pay for it and save my points for the big ones. Thats roughly 3 cents per point. So, you can still get excellent redemption, but flexibility is key.
  22. My last trip to Paris was 4 nights in Paris followed by 3 nights in Blois this past April. In Paris, because it was over the Marathon Weekend, my favorite hotel was booked, so I rented an AirBnB. It was absolutely fantastic. The only downside was it was on the 2nd floor (3rd floor in United States parlance) with no Elevator, and I had a number of large bags as I was traveling for work right before. In Blois, I stayed at Fleur de Loire, a 5 start hotel and spa with a 2 Michelin Star restaurant by Christophe Hay. I visited Chateau Chambord and the one in Blois (after Chambord, the other fell flat), and basically just relaxed most of the time. I want to revisit the Loire Valley when I have longer. But if you are looking, I highly recommend Fleur de Loire. It was great.
