  1. Nd looks like they are not going to suck like I thought they were going to suck.
  2. The hornball one has a 40% off code but it kid if looks like it might be more adult themed than my 12 yo nephews might be ready for. Has anyone ever done that one? I just want some place to watch the first playoff game. Do they show the game at LCL? Looks like pat green is playing and that may be fun.
  3. You are probably right, but it did keep me from getting to the Florida tailgate before the game due to some poor risk planning on my part. Traffic was just a bit worse getting into that area than expected and it cost me an hour of pregaming. Lesson learned. You've got everything that anyone would want in a set up but there is still a ton of volatility especially around the times of the games not being known. If they had put Georgia at 11 I'd imagine you wouldn't have gone to the trouble you did and that it wouldn't have been as wild as it was. Im not complaing about the $100 or really suggesting you change things up that much...it sucks that there wasn't more of a buzz. I was ready to make it a priority of my day even at 100 to the extent that I told my wife to tell her parents to pound sand on the coming to our house to "do Christmas" on that Saturday so I could get there in time to watch game 1...I got dirty looks and everything. I'm just steelmaning the other side and coming up with ways to take those complaints or concerns out of the equation. I can't help with game hype. I think others have alluded to the strange calculus of maybe holding back because future games may be coming that are more expensive(I paid out for some nosebleeds for the cotton bowl that I expect to take a bath on if we don't make it). I agree with you. I'm floored people aren't talking more about the first December games in dkr ever. It's fucking amazing. I guess you've got: 1. Family Christmas obstacles 2. Hesitation from Potentially volatile weather(which will decline or accelerate as game day gets closer) 3. Keeping powder dry for future games if we win.(but with two more potential games in a place we just played you'd think this might be muted...that or the peach bowl is about to be the least attended texas postseason game ever and for the next few decades) 4. Year end cost concerns. I don't think any of those wouldn't be easily overcome with a precomitment. You may just need a way to compensate/account(give consumer confidence) for what one may think is $100 tailgate(premium night game/afternoon opponent) vs something....less...which the schedule seems to be full of next year. Im happy to noddle on it with you and help come up with something that makes everyone's experience better next year(and make your life a hell of a lot easier.) Like I could certainly consider committing something like 3k for 4 passes x 7 games if I knew I'd be able to off load them for games where my kid ends up with a dance recital and/or refund if it ends up being a mimosa and donut game.
  4. Have you ever met a wife? 😂 I was told to trust her and that the math would check out. As an aside going at thanksgiving was prompted by the fact that we just couldn't afford to go over Christmas break. Everything was 3-8x more expensive. It was nuts.
  5. Of course and it is even more valuable with all the parking lots on the south side disappearing. My parking permit is actually on the south side(near scholz) and would make it even more often if it were over there, but I'm sure a bunch of high rollers have premium LBJ parking. (And I'm not sure there are actually many places left to have it over there.) It is what it is. Maybe they'll open up the capitol green space as they finish it out? I haven't heard of any plans. in future years it may be worth getting people to pre commit. If you have to pay in for a the "season" pass for the extra game and you just credit people the cash for that game if we don't go then it might give people the push to self organize their buddies when it happens. Of course that is MORE admin for whoever is carrying most of the burden. Has anyone suggested to CDC and RevelXL to combine funding your favorite tailgate up front and getting digital passes that could be handed out and sold along with tickets through seatgeek? If they streamlined the whole thing we could prefund you at the beginning of the year and then send a bunch of assholes to the tailgate when we can't make it to our games(I actually have to sell my parking permit separately so maybe we could be more discerning with who ends up with tailgate passs). They could offer it to all the tailgates as a service.
  6. The issue here(and with the awfully scheduled Arkansas game next year) is that more and more texas schools are giving the whole week of thanksgiving off. I was supposed to be there but we decided to go skiing at the last minute and by the time I realized it was the damn Kentucky game we already had stuff scheduling paid for. it is a great week to get out and do stuff with family when most others are distracted with thanksgiving. You can even squeeze in a couple days in Mexico and make it back for turkey. It is going to be a shitty weekend for home games for the near future.
  7. A tent at academy made in china and flat screen tvs are cheaper than they've ever been. Food is expensive as hell but for years that tended to be a byom and byob thing for tailgating. CDC has for a ton of amazing things for the game time experience, but in my experience the consumerization of the TG scene is a choice with consequences. I'm sure they are making bank and I'm always appreciative of rolling up with little effort especially in this phase of my life. But sometimes I also think the collective approach was better. Imma's a hero for always pulling it together for a bunch of strange internet people so this isn't a complaint, I'm just voicing thoughts in my head. Maybe some where in there are some ways we can help out and all make it our own.
  8. While a good deal, it isn't what everyone is looking for when they come to a TG. All you can drink when there is like two choices of liquor can mute things a bit(this happens at tgs when you get sponsors) and if you are bringing friends it is a lot easier to throw 80 in the can than 400. The food a the Georgia tailgate was insane and plentiful and certainly worth that price, but I'm unlikely to purchase that for any guests I bring on the spur of the moment when I'm not sure if they are the kind of folks that want to pig out before going to a 4 hour game. ...and when I bring my kids they aren't going to drink and are more than likely going to wait to get a cheese burger in the stadium because they have the palette of the pre-teens they are. I guess all I'm saying is that when you hit that 100 price point your committing a good bit more and the decisions become "more considered" than when it's 20 bucks to ensure you have a place to grab a beer, watch the early games, and see what's on offer that might be good to eat. I went straight to the site to buy and then when I saw 100 I heard the screeching sound in my head and decided I need to figure out who was going with me first....and now it is canceled likely because myself and a few others hesitated.
  9. Maybe a combo? I was a bit surprised to see $100 after previous weeks it had been $20 but was still going to pay it for the convenience of being near my seats and generally liking you degenerates.. I have no problem with charging more as I saw how much you killed yourself for that Georgia tailgate. I actually went poking around to see what else was going on and another talkgate that I've considered it the past that is usually $40/person just isn't having it because they are using their parking lot to stage construction. It may be a tough ticket to get which sucks because I was looking forward to watching as much of the first game as I could get away with before ducking to my seats and was hoping to maybe watch part of the third while the garages emptied out. Any suggestions on an alternate would be appreciated. Happy to contribute something to it, but not in a position to put a couple grand or anything. I guess the days of rocking up with a 10 spot and a 12 pack to an empty parking lot where someone was smoking 100 lbs of brisket are over. Shame. There just really aren't many parking lots left....I love the feel of the LBJ setting, but I get the feeling they want a pretty penny to set all of that stuff up for you(and I know Imma saves a ton with the solar and his own TVs.) I basically had to tell family to get bent as well to get to the game, so I guess it will be a bit sparsely attended, which shocks me because since we've never had one I assumed it would be a once in a decade(maybe 5 years) opportunity to get into DKR in December. We'll also see what the weather ends up being...it could be quite a range(looks like mostly sunny with a high of 59 and a low nowhere near freezing which sound just about perfect as long as the wind isn't coming out of the north at 25mph). A lot of tickets out there and others in my section are 100 less than the last time I looked:
  10. Yeah...reconsider that WKU, South Florida, Wisconsin, Mercer gauntlet.
  11. There have been issues for decades. The best team is supposed to win. If you want conf championships to "mean something" and you want teams to keep scheduling hard schedules then reseeding solves this. You give #12 a chance but because they play such a weak schedule they're going to have to play the best team at every round. For the team that has a killer schedule and goes 12-0 it is a reward at every round.
