  1. This was a while back, but I rode the train in from Plano one year(The Shipley kick return year). We were packed in like sardines and by there were a number of stops where there was no one able to get on as we approached town. We got stuck outside the fair at some point in Deep Ellum. We eventually pried the doors open as game time approached. I had to run to the game and got there just in time to see Shipley's return. That sucked and I haven't ridden the DART since. I'm sure they've gotten it straightened out, but I'm scared for life.
  2. I'll be the old man...the speakers are ridiculous. I'm half deaf so I don't care, but it can't be safe for kids that still have fresh hearing. My 12 yo and 6 yo begged me to leave in the first quarter. The heat wasn't helping, but the kids were trying to stand on bleachers to see the game with their hands over their ears. Stupid. We left. I live it when dkr is rocking, but needs to be from the fans and not the speakers. My Apple Watch's 90 decibel warning going off in the first quarter of a Kansas game is sus.
  3. These don't make me feel nearly as queasy as when UH wore the powder blue. Go Rice. Beat errrbody. Wear these every week.
  4. Hahahaha....those shots of the band playing for the frat/sorority houses is fire. 😆 I may stop by this week but will have three littlish ones in tow, so we may get distracted by Bevo BLVD.
  5. I was culling through my podcast feeds and noticed that HornsCast hasn't had an update in a while. Did Will, Darius, and the Fire X coach podcast move anywhere?
  6. I don't disagree. The argument for doing SOMETHING is that since 2000 we've increased the state population 43%. The Freshman class size has gone up 0%(or thereabout). If the state wants to keep having the same number of flagship educated students they have to find a way to graduate 43% more students. It would suck to go somewhere else for two years, but it is one way to get more people through with a UT degree(which is what people ultimately want). Other options might be going to a trimester system and only letting kids be on campus for two of three with the third being remote. This also has crazy logistic issues. We Could also just bulldoze the Erwin Center and build Tower 2.0 that is a 110 floors full of classrooms, but that takes capital and there is more prestige in using the space to train like 6.5 doctors a year. We need educated Texans who are proud as hell of the institutions they attended and want to send their kids there. It is good for the state and the economy. Maybe the UTSAs and UTEPs need new, cool, more prestigious names and things just have to spread out. But: Texas A&M has 16,000 more undergrads than UT right now. Over a generation that starts to make a huge difference in Alumni and donor base.
  7. You are not wrong, but I'd say it is a both/and. If you pay taxes in the state you should have a pathway to go to the flagship whether that involves a semester/year(or two) at a satellite, so be it. We are so tied to the four years in one place narrative that it feels like failure to do something else. The old provisional masked this, the reincarnation didn't....and I don't know if they even do that anymore. A lot more texas kids could get the "best education" if the moved all freshmen and or sophomore to satellites. But that would really screw with football...and we can't have that.😬
  8. This whole thing pisses me off. Covid was a great excuse to figure out doubling enrollment. Having the same number of seats as when i graduated two decades ago is dumb.
  9. This is a good point....still would be a fun graph to see over the course of this year.
  10. It feels like more. One thing I know is that I haven't seen a single onside kick yet and we're headed to week five. I don't know why the new clock rolls would affect on sidekicks, but it seems like they are. Anybody know where to look up the stats? It'll be really interesting to look at the year over year change.
  11. I'm Austin for Pearl Jam on Monday and Tuesday. I have a ticket each night in the arena, and I'm kind of betting on the "no bad seats in moody", but I'm still so pissed I missed the fan club sale and am not on the floor or in the pit.
  12. I've upgraded every two years religiously. Last year I was like...I think I can squeeze another year out of this. Yesterday I was like... why would I even bother? My battery is a bit chippy and it keeps deleting my apps, but I think I'm just going to roll with my 12 pro.
  13. I know we need the rain, but my trip to Austin has me a bit:
  14. I always punch in Snarff's Sandwitches.
  15. Any specific plans/needs for this weekend? Planning to head over a bit before the game...how early may depend on who they announce for Longhorn city limits.
  16. I was here. 🤘
  17. What channel will this be on when the Aggie game goes long?
  18. Don't get lost and miss the game. 🤘
  19. 13-7. Bad Guys. I think this game will be ugly and short. I wish I'd seen something different last week, but I just don't like the way the o-line came together. If they can get that fixed then maybe we win 14-13. But this game will likely feature under 55 snaps for both teams. Last year it was 64 and 67.
  20. Put the engineering school on it. There has to be some kind of carbon fiber sail we can run up as long as the wind is below 30mp4 three times a year.

    Week 1 Recap

Uhhhh....no one at my high school looks like that QB. If Finley stays healthy they may make some noise in the Sun Belt.
  22. I'm not going to lie..those uniforms were fire. I hope they never wear them again. They made me feel all funny inside.
  23. More threads > less threads. I've never understood rolling things into one thread..it loses all nuance and context. Maybe it is good for SEO? But it sucks when you have something specific to discuss.
