A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
Fun times around Big D when they were filming. He thought The Beer Barn on Walnut hill was the coolest thing. You could buy beer without ever leaving your car!

Saw it at The Winspear Opera House. Outstanding show. Better viewed from the lower balcony where you could see the choreography.

What have you done with all of your old CD's?
I keep the inserts in a separate box. Most of my Jazz is LPs and I don’t have a ton of electronica CDs so I combined them. There are 80 CDs in that box. I have a spreadsheet that notes box and position.

This is a David Byrne show tune.

These work for me. CDs are also ripped to a hard drive. I have a dedicated listening room, no TV just audio equipment and seating. For serious listening it’s always CD or LP.

Surly Olds (and Super Olds...looking at you Army Brat), Is the current state of the country the most divided in your lifetime?
I think one thing different during the 60s/70s was there was a feeling of hope. That we were making progress. Now we seem to be regressing which exacerbates the feeling of hopelessness.

Shit that was going down late 60s to mid-ish 70s was unreal. Bombings in public places were so common for a while they weren’t even headline news. FALN SLA BLA Weathermen. A lot of these organizations were comprised of mid to upper class young folks. “Eco Terrorism” was getting ramped up. Greenpeace an Earth First were getting into confrontation and sabotage. Environmental Life Force was using explosives and arson to get their message across. It was the golden age of airplane hijacking. So much so that it was just cost of doing business to the airlines. They even included charts of the Caribbean for pilots to make it faster/easier in case the got hijacked.

Isn’t that exactly what the Rs are doing with gun control? Any gun control legislation means they will next take all your guns.

Fine with me if they promote Jub Jam. And since 2011, P1s have helped us raise over $750,000 to help the Senior Source and their efforts to serve our community. In 2021, we raised over $135,000 and are looking forward to raising even more in 2022 on August 18th.

No worry. Mexico, I mean The Pentagon will pay for Operation Lone Star. WASHINGTON — Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Sherman, wants the Pentagon to help pick up the tab for Gov. Greg Abbott’s immigration-and-drugs dragnet at the southern border. Fallon said Friday he was introducing a bill that would require the Defense Department to reimburse the state of Texas for more than $1.4 billion in costs stemming from what has been dubbed Operation Lone Star.- Right Wing Extremist Violence Thread

Dug this Yosegaki Hinomaru out of my Mom’s closet before the moths decimated it. Luckily most of the writing is still legible. Taken from a soldier in the battle of Balete Pass in Northern Luzon. This will be on its way back to Japan via the OBON Society. https://obonsociety.org/eng/page/yosegaki-hinomaru- Whatcha reading?
Have to check those out. I get into historical fiction binges but then have to take a break. Read these from Jay Penner followed by his Cleopatra trilogy. He seems to know his stuff and has a succinct writing style that always keeps the story moving along. (Penner is Dallas based) - The Texpatriates Thread
