  1. A very timely post. See below for my current situation. Anyone care to offer odds on the 11/18 delivery date? Fuck FedEx.
  2. Ok, so which one of you is "Ex Con Guy" on Twitter?
  3. The mountains in the area are gorgeous, but Gatlinburg proper is a tourist trap (that is, unless you are a fan of the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum and Bubba Gump's). I very much prefer the Bryson City side of the park. Tons of outdoor activities at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, world-class mountain biking at Tsali, boating on Lake Fontana, tubing on Deep Creek. The Appalachian Trail crosses through the NOC campus, and a section hike one day would be a really neat experience. Also, I highly suggest you head a few miles south for a day and take a rafting trip on the Ocoee.
  4. I also did this for my dog for a while, and he absolutely loved it. After some time, he started trying to eat dirt, obviously trying to make up for some micronutrient deficiency. Reluctantly switched him back (Nulo, from Austin, of course), but he certainly prefers his chicken thighs, brown rice, and veggies.
  5. Considering where your wife is in the process (a couple of weeks behind you, I think?), was she able to enjoy the cruise?
  6. The only burnt orange in a sea of purple. Cost/benefit is debatable...
  7. Pinch hitter. Three pitches, three strikes.
  8. I am interested in learning more about “cloud hosting” for a small business server. Our office (12 daily users, 4 remote) operates on a local machine running Windows Server 2012 R2. It is inevitable that the server will need to be replaced or upgraded (it is six years old), and I wondering at what point it would make sense to move all this to a hosted environment. The current server runs basic Microsoft Office applications, as well as QuickBooks Enterprise, and currently houses less than 600GB of data files. The remote users, who use the server throughout the day, connect via VPN through a SonicWall device. Should I consider moving all this to “the cloud”? We have only had a few hardware issues, but I anticipate this may accelerate as the equipment continues to age. Also, I believe we will be looking at an end-of-life date for Server 2012 sometime next year. Any thoughts or recommendations would be very much appreciated; I’m not sure where to begin. Unfortunately, our small-town IT service providers leave much to be desired, and our small business cannot justify a full-time IT person.
  9. +1. One of the very few remaining old-school seafood joints. Traditional fried mullet sandwich is hard to beat.
  10. Rent a pontoon boat, go to Pirate's Cove on Arnica Bay. Live music, greasy burgers and pizza, brutal bushwackers. Quite a scene, especially on weekends. http://www.piratescoveriffraff.com/contact-us.html
  11. Geez, this reads like it was written by a sixth-grader with a thesaurus.
  12. The thirty lawyers that undoubtedly reviewed this document obviously have no idea what year this is...
  13. Absolutely heartbreaking. Can't even begin to imagine the hell you and family are going through...prayers for all of you.

  15. There has been an ongoing investigation by the feds into corruption in the New Orleans permitting/inspection department. Probably all just a crazy coincidence, right? https://www.nola.com/news/courts/article_636bae40-d644-11e9-bd7d-03e777aed0f8.html
  16. That James Harden guy is a pretty good basketball player.
  17. Megabus. Less than $20 on weekdays, a little more on weekends
  18. Someone actually felt the need to put a security tag on that shirt?
