  1. E Hogan addresses upcoming changes Listening to it now, no announcement on personnel (still working through it apparently), just talking about financial and signal issues
  2. I figured it was, just too foggy to remember that exact line last night, good on ya!
  3. Killbilly was kind of a precursor to the Bad Livers (Danny Barnes, Mark Rubin, Ralph White), good friends with Mark even though he is living in New Orleans now, did some session work with him for the Newton Boys soundtrack, good guy
  4. Missing my brother something fierce lately, he introduced me to the Old 97s and actually was a roadie for them. In fact, the last song on Drag 'Em Up (No Mother) describes his death, how is that for a pepper upper? Regardless, I appreciate Rhett and all the guys for doing that, it meant more to my mom and me than they will ever know, even though I can't bring myself to listen to it without totally losing it, so I don't. I still love the band though and they have brought me a lot of joy, so for Joel, let's fuckin' rock this joint. Alcohol may have been involved in this post.

    Vinyl

Grabbed a bunch of LPs in an online auction the other night, run by an antique place three blocks from my house so went and picked them up this morning. Except for the Monkees (expected) everything else was VG to Mint, just a few light scuffs on a couple. $52 including auction fee and sales tax, not bad. Got most for $1, I think the highest was the McCartney Russian album, paid $6 for that. Got into a bidding war for a copy of the Xanadu soundtrack (don't @me, I'm a huge ELO fan...), price got up to $10 so I bailed. Got outbid on lots of others but nothing I couldn't live without... The John Denver and Manilow are for my wife, btw
  6. May-Oct is prime church picnic time here in CenTex. Played a picnic in Ammannsville on Father’s Day, at the end they were selling leftover fried chicken (huge pieces) for a dollar apiece and a gallon baggie full of smoked sausage for 5 bucks just to get rid of it…
  7. Midnight Sun Pleasure Town IPA, Seward Alehouse
  8. Various, Matanuska Brewing Company, and a moose
  9. At Alaskan Burgers and Brew
  10. And I am sure that was verbatim - because "he consistently and continuously ignored border laws or whatever".
  11. Dedicated thread in Food & Travel
  12. Not coming to Texas, but Big Boy is leaving tomorrow to head to Omaha for the CWS. So hopefully if the Horns make it, go check out some Big Iron. Video from a test run yesterday:
  13. Jump to about 2:30, pretty sure Bill and Boebert's mom crossed paths at some point
  14. Had a great time at East Bell Taphouse today, manager there used to be a bartender at Texas Beer Co. in Taylor, hired my band to play a "polka brunch" today. Not a big crowd, but very appreciative, and the first one they've had, we'll be back at some point. Had an open tab for the band, was a little worried at the end, ala the Blues Brothers at the Country Bunker... We definitely equaled our pay with the bar tab.
  15. his friends call him Kenny, but he got no friends
  16. Just straight-up trailer trash
  17. Not bad...
  18. No real confirmation, so take with a grain of salt, but wouldn't be surprised at all
  19. Evil Roy Slade
  20. And yes I know I am derailing the thread, but can we just maybe not think about this impotent, twig-legged mother fucker for a few minutes. And I'm not making fun of no cripples (see the Monkees "Head" for reference), as Gordie Lachance said, "No Ace, just you..." (my pop culture references come out when I get drunk, back to your regularly scheduled programming)
  21. I'm not QUITE as old as Armybrat (although I do live in his wife's home town of Taylor, maybe that has something to do with it), but I do miss a simpler time with simple technology and shitty local commercials....
