  1. The song was rewritten after Mike Love voiced objections to the lyrics.[16][17] Love stated in a 1993 interview that he found the original lyrics "so totally offensive [and] nauseating" that he refused to sing them.[18] He told Wilson that he was strongly opposed to drugs such as LSD and did not wish for the Beach Boys to be associated with its culture.[19] In his recollection, he was aware of the fact that Wilson had experimented with LSD and knew that the "prevailing drug jargon [suggested] that doses of LSD would shatter your ego, as if that were a positive thing... I wasn't interested in taking acid or getting rid of my ego."[20] He said, "The people that I'd seen indulge in those things exhibited behaviors and mannerisms that left much to be desired."[16]
  2. Couple of Mexican restaurants here around Taylor do that, actually chicken fried fajitas topped with queso, damn tasty. I always ask for tortillas and make some cfs, rice and bean tacos.
  3. He's a good man... and thorough.
  4. Not mine, but damned if I ain't gonna try making these soon... https://www.expressnews.com/news/local/article/crispy-dogs-san-antonio-17768887.php
  5. It also happened in 2017 and the judge reversed the order after new shit came to light. Just a clickbait post unfortunately.
  6. and the chaser for those that can't see comment: "Only foe was Gen. Stairwell Jackson"
  7. As soon as they stopped giving away quality merch like this, they were doomed (of course I had one, was like talking into a cardboard tube...)
  8. Yes, the plan is working...
  9. Story above reminded me of a pic of my brother and Dusty, taken somewhere in downtown Austin, my brother worked a lot of the clubs on Red River so could have been at one of those...
  10. That damn fine print
  11. First think I thought of, they're just ripping off Brian Regan. "Take luck!"
  12. Yeah, he did that here on KLBJ as well. Dale Dudley used to play a phone message from Joe, Dale had slandered him on the morning show, saying he was high or something like that, and Joe found out, the left a message threatening to sue Dale "for everything you got! I love a war man! So get a good lawyer!" (still remember that word for word) But yeah, RIP Jim. Only knew him from his projects with Roger Waters, and then later on his Sirius show. Classic DJ voice and excellent interviewer. As a radiophile, a good DJ could transport you anywhere, fill your head with things and sounds you never dreamed of. One of the best ever for sure.
  13. Good ol' Ralph Fisher, my parents were friends with him. Got some video somewhere of him on the Letterman show with Dave and a brahma bull, and then riding a longhorn steer out back of the NBC building. I knew Bill Ham ran ZZ Top but damn, no fun of any kind! In the '70s heyday no less.
  14. If you're on the road Saturday morning head north from Crowley about 20 miles to Fred's Lounge in Mamou. Live cajun music with a radio simulcast and a whole lotta drinking and dancing. Opens at 7:30 and is standing room only by 8:30 or so.
  15. Just saw that, dammit. RIP sir. Unsung hero of many of my favorite bands, as mentioned above.
  16. I know somewhere on here it's been discussed, because someone brought up the Whittakers, that's how I found the channel. Wow. The wife and I spent a whole evening watching some of those. Sad thing is, we both have some relatives that are not that far off, on the poverty/low education level anyway, not the straight-line family tree... And like the Whittakers, they are perfectly happy. I really like that the guy doesn't judge at all, just wants to capture the human condition from all sides, and try to help out if he can. Something to be learned from that.
  17. 512 IPA for me, Shiner Cheer for the missus, this after a pitcher of Blood and Honey
  18. Ah, that makes sense now, lil fish just got a charity scholly to be a kicker at Samford, nsiap
