  1. Reading on Reddit, apparently she has a $25000 judgment against her from the Wisc, Dept of Workforce Development, and her partner has a 4 year domestic violence (with a firearm) restraining order against him, lovely people. Dollars to doughnuts, her business is about to go under anyway, this way she can blame it on Biden and use the cause celebre to parlay it into some form of grift, either a Joe the Plumber type deal or run for office like the covid hair stylist up in Dallas, Shelly Luther, is that right? She'll be the darling of the OAN/Newsmax crowd for a couple of weeks. Regardless, the grift is the goal.
  2. And also, last week we lost Mike Pinder, from the Moody Blues. He WAS the sound of the Moodies, that Mellotron was on everything.
  3. Probably not deserving of a separate thread, but Richard Tandy, keyboardist for ELO, passed away yesterday. Unsung member for sure. RIP sir. Here he is on keyboards and also the "weeping" lead guitar solo as well.. so many subtle synth parts bubbling around in this one, and the telephone ringing, created with a Moog..
  4. Pretty interesting, I read up a little more on it and watched a couple of YT videos. Every June a new tripod is built, so the one I saw last year was brand new. In March, they take it apart, drag it out on the ice and put it back together. It's made out of spruce logs (I thought it was metal...). A cable is attached to the top of the tripod and runs to the tower on the bank. It has a set of pulleys, so the cable is actually rather long, with a bucket at the end. The tripod does not have to fall into the ice for the contest to end, the cable just has to be pulled far enough, around 100 yards, for the bucket to be pulled all the way to the top of the tower, that sets off a siren and stops two separate clocks keeping time. The video below, the ice from upstream finally caught the cable and dragged it far enough to raise the bucket, well before the tripod ever finally went into the water. Pretty cool.
  5. Saw this on a train FB group, and this is a small one... Edited to add: here is the full video, you can hear them slowly get more and more nervous.. From the conductor: "I am a 27-year conductor with the same railroad company. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me while on a train. This happened while sitting stationary waiting for signal to continue westward. This happened during the afternoon hours on May 26th 2024. The Nebraska tornado outbreak. The tornado blew over and derailed 31 cars. The engineer and I were unharmed."

    Vinyl

Headed over to Giddings yesterday for an estate sale/antiquing, nice haul:
  7. Have this on CD, back in high school a friend loaned it to me on vinyl. Still love it. Justin Hayward, Phil Lynott, David Essex, Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann), it's really a great album, very proggy.

    Steely Dan

Lotta fuckin yappin in this thread (sorry, I'm drunk, nothing personal), let's have some goddam music Had this one stuck in my head ever since I saw this thread bumped Love all the Dan stuff, but Katy Lied/Royal Scam is pretty much the high point for me, before they got a little too slick might be my all-time favorite, here with both the guitar and sax outros and a great deep cut, only available on certain greatest hit albums, have this one on vinyl, sounds fantastic
  9. Safe home sweet prince, er, Count...
  10. Got a ‘70’s pop summer lined up, first up is 10cc at ACL Live in early August (no Eric Stewart, but Graham Gouldman and half of the six-member Dreadlock Holiday era band), then a couple of weeks later Barry Manilow at Moody (wife’s favorite), then back at Moody in October for ELO.
  11. Damn, I watch that yt channel all the time, cool to watch the ships come in and out. They usually train the camera on the port during the day, lucky to have it facing the bridge last night. Rewind about 7 hours and you can watch the whole thing unfold, sickening how slowly it happens. Prayers to all the workers on that bridge..
  12. Still funny, but isn't this from last year? Doubt she is getting near the speaker's chair any time soon.
  13. Yep, Fairbanks and North Pole. I shoulda honked. No shit about those skeeters too, jesus.
  14. Passed through there last summer, tripod was ready and waiting..
  15. Fuckin A, let's get some up in here. Loved this one when I was a kid. Listening just now, was struck at how it has the same electric piano sound and vocals as some of the songs on the Beach Boys 1977 album "Beach Boys Love You". Sure enough, both were recorded the same year and that is Brian Wilson and Bruce Johnston on backing vocals.
  16. This day can just fuck right off... Rest in peace sir https://variety.com/2024/music/obituaries-people-news/eric-carmen-dead-raspberries-singer-all-by-myself-go-all-the-way-1235938937/
  17. Fucking gutted man, goddamn it. Loved World Party, essentially a one-man band. Rest in peace sir. and Karl loved him some Beatles, both in spirit and straight up covers
