  1. I’m far from an expert but my understanding is it’s not actually oxy, it’s Mexican cartel-made counterfeit oxy, and they make it partly with fentanyl because it’s cheaper and/or easier.
  2. It's increasingly common for oxy to be laced with fentanyl, often without the knowledge of the user.
  3. Skaggs’ family, and Rusty Hardin, are alleging an Angels employee gave Skaggs fentanyl-laced oxy.
  4. Seems like that would depend on how much you like Disney/MCU/Star Wars.
  5. Not hilarious but solidly funny. Probably second best comedy so far this year behind Booksmart.
  6. I know they've been bad the last 5 years or so but that still seems really low for UConn.
  7. Yet its others who are living in fear...
  8. Meh. Dicaprio and Pitt were great but it was a bit of a meandering slog.
  9. He was in a tough spot but the best move there was to just put up Christie. That way you either take out one of the strongest players in that alliance or you get rid of her power.
  10. They actually did do most of the voice acting alongside the people they were in the scene with but I agree it doesn’t really sound like it a lot of the time.
  11. That’s about right.
  12. It had a couple of moments but overall it was not good
  13. What makes you think we paid for the road already with taxes? At least in the Austin area, the construction costs for toll roads are paid for by selling bonds, which are then paid back with toll revenues.
  14. Hate to break it to you man but Prop 1 didn't even prohibit the creation of new toll roads, let alone say existing tolls must be removed. Prop 1 diverted existing revenues to road building/maintenance but only that newly diverted revenue can't be spent on toll roads.
  15. Because punching in a passcode reveals the contents of your mind. Holding your finger on a sensor does not.
  16. Even the CSA Constitution did apportionment by counting the whole number of free persons (plus 3/5 of slaves).
  17. I think it’s just really tough to pull off. It’s hard to repeatedly protect someone you’re not publicly working with without drawing suspicion from the people you are publicly working with. It’s also hard to build trust with someone if you’re not spending a lot of time getting to know them and working together.
  18. I would think they would have just announced the cause had it been something like a car wreck or homicide. I'd imagine suicide, overdose, or some random medical condition like an aneurysm.
  19. This financial cliff they’ve created is Republicans’ insurance policy against a Dem takeover. If Dems actually were to win some statewide power in 2-4 years, they’ll be forced to either support a tax increase or to roll back the teacher pay increases. If Republicans keep power, they’ll just cut women’s healthcare some more or something else white evangelicals don’t care about to make up the gap.
  20. Politically, I think it would be a bad move for Dems to impeach in the House (although if there was enough momentum for him to actually be removed by the Senate, then that political calculus probably changes). But it would also be the right and lawful thing to do.
  21. I don’t either but leaving that door open is the only real reason to resign.
  22. A lege staffer mentioned the possibility to me but had not heard whether it was actually being considered.
  23. I don’t know that it’s going to happen but by resigning immediately before adjournment, Abbott is now allowed to re-appoint him until 2021.
  24. Resigning immediately before adjournment sine die allows Abbott to re-appoint him until the next session in 2021. Abbott can’t appoint someone whose nomination was rejected by the Senate and if the Senate adjourns without confirming the nomination, the appointee is deemed to have been rejected. Since the Senate never actually voted on his nomination and because his nomination was not still pending at adjournment, he was not technically rejected.
