And DFW horn, tell Walt Anderson I’m still waiting on my email response from 2008.

I officiated TXHSFB for 10 years and worked both HL and LJ. At game speed, on-the-field I'd probably rule that pass incomplete too. Flank officials are trained to blow it dead immediately in that situation. We were also trained, by Big 12 officials at our seminars, to rule "laterals" as forward passes when in doubt.
This pass is too close to call at game speed and when in doubt, it will oftentimes be ruled incomplete. It sucks, but I think the QB drifting back gives it more of the illusion of being a backwards pass.
I don’t think people disagree with the on field call, but the booth should review. That review cannot be done in 40 seconds. I don’t think it’d get overruled on replay. But you stop the video when the ball is released and go from there. This is an instance of a play in which you cannot blame the onfield official for their call either way. No angle or perspective.
With respect to process, if there is any doubt, you should be trained to let it play out. Then rule. Errors have been caused because we call it based on letting it play out then the booth can’t overturn due to being inconclusive. So here, let it play out then come back and say incomplete on the field. That way if in fact it’s wrong and overruled, it works as it should.-

That's literally OU in a nutshell the past 2 decades. Everything goes their way, somehow.
I get what you’re saying but it is a rarity that we’re up so much so early. And every once in a while we get a bounce or a call (even a legitimate one). This game we got nothing.
Hell last year OU had double digit penalties (so did we). Even on the hold they called, I’m not sure there wasn’t a non -call on a blindside block. -
More than any other group, OL play improves when the unit gets some reps together. Transfer portal is going to be a limited option for success aside from getting maybe one spot upgraded at a position of true weakness. You’ll be surprised how much better a young group can get just by playing together.
This is correct. Dcarr00 is correct on Okafor too because it goes hand in hand with this.
There are a lot of continuity issues here - system changes, position changes, youth, injury issues. They aren’t the most talented bunch, but they’re capable. And there are instances in which they kick ass.
This unit never played together at these positions until last week. I’m not sure Kerstetter has ever played left guard. From a fan perspective, he is a Right Tackle. An 80 PFF pass grade is pretty stellar. That was often him at RT. That frees you up to help elsewhere. So not only are we restarting our communication on the left side Angilau now has a new RT. -
That looked like what they tried to do, but they kept losing yards on 1st.
Yep. It’s part of why we struggled versus Arkansas. Forced Bijan on early downs. They were giving some quick hitters to our wideouts that we didn’t take. Win first down in the 2nd half and the outcome is different.
First two plays of 2nd half. Worthy had a 7-8 yard cushion. Two runs. Figure out how to take that gimme. 2nd and 5 is way different than 2nd and 12. -
Haven't seen this one talked about much but I was surprised they didn't review this too. Honestly not sure if this should've been a fumble or not bc it's so close
Are you really surprised?
There’s no way that could have been confirmed between plays.
I don’t think we’ll ever see a game again with a team hanging on by a thread get the benefit of so many close calls or being on the right side of things by inches or split seconds. Unreal. -
In reading JimmyJames post about sitting at home pissing in your depends.
I’d say if it came to having to pissing in my depends inside the Cotton Bowl, I might just be down with it as opposed to missing part of the game.
We got there early. Inside about an hour before. Got drinks and a couple extra waters. They couldn’t scan our tickets, but no line and no rush. Parking was easy in, easy out, but we have a plan. -
Closest one we have is Overshown, but he overruns too many plays and misses too many tackles. Good, but not great. I'd like to see Collins at DE more often. He bull-rushed OU's left tackle to the ground with a sack. He can't do worse than Bush or the other JAGs we have playing on the edge.
True on Collins. His recruiting profile indicates he could be that superstar. There’s a lot of focus on Bush here, but it’s part of my curiosity with what we’re trying to do. He plays hard and often does a solid job of maintaining ground. Is he playing because of work ethic or because he does what’s asked of him? And if we’re still working on culture, then maybe that’s it. The Dline is the mystery for the whole season. Sorrel plays then he doesn’t. Collins play some but not full time. We need Collins to be the guy.
Thing I’ve seen with Overshown is that he gets picked off too often on plays away but honestly that may be common with smallish backside LBers. Personally I’m not concerned with the LBers. They are active and get to the ball. They do need to miss fewer tackles. And neither have just a ton of experience. The Pig LBers looked good against us, but Ole Miss just lit em up. A&M got 34 offensive points vs. Bama even though they shut the run down. Outside of Georgia, there’s not much defensive greatness.-

Not a Lake Travis fan...
LT is short for "Long Time"
Ok. Sorry about that. Not even sure how I jumped to that conclusion.-

Hope we get a lot more analysis about the defensive struggles from this past weekend. Lots of personnel issues on a defense that has no "real stars". When some of the defensive starters are on the sideline getting a blow, the back-up's really underperform.
Not seeing much pride or frustration about how poorly guys are playing on defense. Get off fuckin' blocks, pressure their QB, and play physical.
Our tackling still really sucks -- just don't have any tough guy DAWGS on defense right now...
FUCK
Bro, you’re a Lake Travis fan. They play tough, hard nosed D? What do you know about it? In that vein, how come you never see any LT D1 defensive recruits? This last question is a serious one.
Maybe that’s it. We’re a star or two short. I’m not a fan of calling out dudes individually as crappy. Every starter we have has done some nice things. We just need more of it consistently.
I’m not sure what PK requires of his DLine, they seem to play to eat up blocks, but we have no one that constantly requires a double team or so it seems. Our LBs are small so you’ve got to keep them clean. And we do some but then we get gashed. A LB that can run in space against the spread but is great at taking on blocks is a bit like that cover safety that can legit cover a WR. Rare.
Against OU getting off blocks is difficult because of their damn holding. Perfect example is on their last TD. Brockermeyer has his outside shoulder free. He’s in very good position except the shithead Sooner has his left arm wrapped to his back. It’s so egregious that Brock attempts to spin free, but he gets no separation because the blocker locks him up and does not let go. It’s hard to evaluate a defense when rules are not enforced.-

Had Enough, how much is your NIL deal with Card?
I told you I have money riding on Casey. -
Although I love the game at the CB and would never want to change, for some reason my tickets the last few years have been on the press box side lower level goal line about 60 rows up. The shade from the upper deck was nice yesterday, but I’ll be damned if you can’t see shit from under there between the cement columns and low overhang. Can’t see either scoreboard or hear a damn thing, and I’ll be damned if the one monitor we could see over to our right had an outage right in the bottom of the screen, so never had a clue about down and distance unless it was obvious and no clue on the game clock. Gonna have to let the LHF those seats are no go next year. Been under there last 3 years and gotta say not a fan.
Sorry for any poor behavior I exhibited near you (I’m not sure whether I was press box side or not). You were up a little higher than mine. I would assume both sides have similar crappiness so even if on opposite sides we had similar viewpoints. I could see one scoreboard but not the other. I saw TVs mounted underneath the overhang, but they were a section over and completely out of sight. I was unable to see all of the end zone. I’d venture to say about row 50 is as high as you’d want to go. I did not get hot though. If I did, I didn’t even notice. -
And If Casey were an AI QB Robot, he'd never miss a throw! We're talking about a guy who threw for 5 TDs and ~400 yards. Not even Tom Brady is perfect and hits every throw and he's got more to work behind in the O line than our guy. Casey grades out as an "A" for the RRS.
He may have truly earned an “A.” Maybe an A-. And we probably had several dudes fail miserably. It wouldn’t surprise if he graded out better than anyone.
But Looks like PFF graded him at B-, 2nd highest next to Worthy. They don’t give out many As though.
I don’t really care about the stats. Except that I have $10 on him to win the Heisman at pretty good odds. So maybe if we can win out and he lights it up, he can get in the race. -
I'm honestly surprised Casey is even still able to walk after his line fucked him over the entire game. He probably got it in his head that he's gonna have to will this team to victory, and it unfortunately failed (not his fault). Our defense also fucked him. It's astounding at how shitty of players we have on both sides of the line. Astonishing, really.
Come on Spider this is dumbassery. 5 rushing attempts, 3 of which were sacks. 7 total QB hurries. That’s not that many hits. At all. Shit Sam took 4 hits in one goal line possession versus Georgia. Casey had several plays with no time which are no doubt inexcusable. But those throws to Worthy across the field require a ton of time.
I believe Patty Mahomes was pressured 50% of his passes in last years Super Bowl. That’s what terrible is.
Casey may have it in his head to will our team to victory, but we led by double digits for 45 minutes of the game so that’d be an odd thought.-

Yeah that Had enough take was ridiculous.
Nope. Nothing I said was inaccurate you Romo loving son of a bitch. -
The Texas Ou game in the second Saturday in October in the middle of the Texas state fair with the crowd split 50-50 is the greatest atmosphere in all of sports and some of you gaping vaginas want to move it because it takes too long to get your coke.
Well allow me to retort.
Go fuck yourselves. Go to the nearest HEB and buy your fucking Coca Cola and your Zima and your Michelobe ultra and sit on your ugly ass fucking couch and watch the greatest game in sports in comfort from your shitty couch in the woodlands.
Now this is the kinda passion and intensity I want to see.-

Does the Big 12 have a strict rule against publicly calling our these jackasses post game or in a formal press conference? Because if this is our last year in the Rig12, I say let it rip. Call out these bastards and Rig 12 front office that allows this.
I’m not sure the Big 12 would fine anyone but would issue a public reprimand. Leach complained publicly at least once after playing us. Mangino did too.
I’d put each questionable play on video and share it publicly. But you gotta put some of our good fortune on there too.
Supposedly, each team submits weekly issues. Would that fall under FOIA? -
because the the other ref immediately came in and talked him into a force out so he put his hat back on and that was that
My understanding was that they considered him pushed out on the field, and that is why the booth did not review that part of the call.
It was a subjectively ruling that could not be overturned. If they had not previously ruled, then the running out of bounds element could have been overturned. -
That’s all semantics. 48 points is enough if you have a defense with a pulse. We gave up 670 yards evenly split between run and pass. We couldn’t take away ANYTHING from OU. We got gashed on several 30+ yard run plays and gave up arm punts to a freshman quarterback. He likes to drop snaps and we made him pay ZERO times for that. We’re the second worst defensive team in the Big12, next to fucking Kansas. Our offense isn’t perfect, but there is a massive disparity between the two units and it’s glaringly obvious which one is by far more responsible for losing the game.
It’s not semantics. It’s a fact. In 3 of 4 games, scoring 48 would not have won the game based on the winning teams score. Yeah, we can talk semantics when we won by 48. Point is that points are being put on the board.
And in no way do I find 48 points or that many yards satisfactory. But context needs to be considered.
The refs called a straight up offensive game. Riley’s offense is more difficult to handle than Grinch’s defense. OU has historically put more into the offensive side than the defensive side.
And you are right we didn’t take away the run or pass. We lost a key part to our dline early. If we had one all American and an all conference type upfront, I think we’d be in pretty good shape. But we don’t. It’s not changing this year. Our safeties need to make more tackles.
In spite of it all, I hope the defense figures it out. -
Just stop.
You got me. Should have been a question mark.
I’ll stop with facts and accurate statements.
I get what you assholes are saying and know that sentiment did not originate here. Sometimes dudes play well and lose. But if you lose, you simply did not do enough to overcome whatever shortcomings exist. Those may not be your shortcomings even.
But I’m also not on board saying Worthy was a loser last week even though his team won.
Mostly, I’m still pissed about losing. I’ll talk about individual plays and the impact on the game, but I won’t blame any one particular player or group like some of you jackasses.-

2018: 48 wins (OU scored 45)
2019: 48 wins (OU scored 34)
2020: 48 wins (OU scored 31 in regulation)
I didn’t say for us to win. I get why you inferred that though.
In 2018, OU needed 49 to win. They didn’t get it and lost.
Yes 2019 was low scoring.
2020 I didn’t say regulation. We needed more than 53. 49 wouldn’t have won it.
2021. We scored 48 and lost.
So 3 out of 4 years the loser needed to score 49 to become the winner. Yes, the OT is not comparable, but it’s a factual statement. But I’d also guess we’re at a time when scoring is coming in at historical highs. -
Yeah that’s fair. Tho Stoops was able to block Foster easily so maybe they got us in the blocking department haha
Yeah and that little punk had a huge TD against us last year.
Let’s keep an eye on Washington. He’s been playing hard. He went up and got that ball yesterday, which is the best he’s done that I recall.
My original point was basically that it’s a team game. We didn’t lose to OU necessarily because they’re more talented. And we didn’t lose because of one unit. OU was incredibly lucky but at the same time made some incredible catches/plays. I’ve never seen a game in which one team fought off momentum changes and were so very close to not. The catches, the non-fumble, the almost stop on 4th and 1. No penalties. Mims not out of bounds. Washington not in bounds.
Yeah, the Oline blew it multiple times, but they sure as hell weren’t worse than two years ago. Or in 2004. Or those buttkickings in the early 2000s.
Yes, the defense gave up a lot. But they created two turnovers, almost had a 3rd. OU had 16 possessions which is quite a bit. And three of those possessions were extended on long 3rd down conversions which were well defended. And only 1 OU penalty that put them behind the chains. And one officiating error that allowed one of those to extend.
We had 4 three and outs on offense and another 4 down drive with no points. We had 3 other possessions of 3 or fewer plays resulting in points. We only had 15 possessions. We ended the 1st half with it being first down at their 20 after killing more than 30 seconds off the clock. Our 2nd half strategy was to give them plenty of time to get in field goal range. We chose to not kick the field goal from the 20 in favor of 4th and 11 with plenty of time left and needing 8 points to win. All of this impacted the final outcome. I’m not usually a time of possession guy but 36:24 doesn’t help the defense. 81 plays to 61 plays is a function of that.
Everbuddy contributed in some way to the loss.
Sorry Casey for the tangent in your thread. -
Is this Hudson Card's burner? If your analysis of Casey is this long, I'd love to see your book about our D. Quarterbacks aren't robots, sans robots like Burrow. They miss throws, especially when an O line lets the defense by the second the ball is snapped. Can you share your thoughts on Karic or the 20 or so real issues that are more pressing than Casey?
Nope. Just want to win. There wasn’t a single incorrect statement I made. I’d rather have0 yards of offense and win than lose to those punks.
I contend the trashing of the Oline is overblown and partially full of shit. Absolutely they blow way too many assignments and leave free rushers. But they also do a damn good job quite often too. All those deep throws? Pretty clean pockets. I’ve also Bijan do a crappy job in pass pro but that doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s the best player in the country.
And probably our most pressing issue cannot be addressed mid-season. And an injury to jacoby Jones ties into part of that issue. -
Yeah I’m not complaining about Casey here. 5 TDs and no INTS? Please…give me that every fucking RRS. Could Casey have used his legs more? Yes! I wish he would have cause they can be dangerous. But not everything is going to be perfect or lucky like ousux had. And we certainly don’t have the WR talent that ou has.
I didn’t really like the screen calls, and I would have preferred some K Rob touches. But the hope here is that a lot is learned and Casey is coached up to understand situational awareness more. I get he’s been at Texas a few years, but this is only his 3rd start? And his playing time is almost freshman level. We’ve been so shitty during his time at Texas that the only meaningful time he’s played was last years bowl game prior to this year.
I am not certain there is much disparity in the receiving corps. They play Stoops. We underutilize Whittington. They never covered Worthy much. Moore was pretty successful in his opportunities yesterday too. Mims is awesome. Otherwise nothing special. Think about our long throws versus theirs. In theory we had them covered every time save the double pass. Moore and Worthy were way open every time.
Second paragraph I’m there with you.
Tackling

Got a middle schooler. Bigger school. They don’t practice a helluva lot and seemingly tackle very little in practice. Their tackling ain’t the 80s and 90s variety.
I have to think they aren’t the exception.
