  1. Purdy and ISU had some offensive skill talent. Breece Hall. Charlie Kolar has an ok NFL career thus far. Xavier Hutchinson is NFL worthy. Based on mock drafts, the UM talent is not overwhelming. I’m sure their Oline guys are better than ISUs but Breece may be the most talented teammate of Purdy or JJ.
  2. None of you nimrods are season ticket holders for other sports. But I can see the allure of 40 games all in 1 passes versus 6 games.
  3. Unpossible. Maybe over a summer. Or two.
  4. I’m beginning to think HenryJames lives under Disch Faulk Firld.
  5. Would you like me to start it up now or wait until the season starts?
  6. Yeah, that’s reasonable. I’m not advocating reaching just to get a position. If you’re convinced a guy is a superstar, you probably need to take him. In the Texans position, I’m not sure many of those exist though. That is somewhat the reason I threw out Murphy. If his strength and quickness translate equally, then you might have a unique player for the next decade as a potential 3 down player that you may be able to move around. That’d make him an option for just about anyone. It’s hard to separate how much that is Texas homerism versus legitimacy though.
  7. Fair enough. The depth chart looks to have reasonable youth. From an observation perspective, the pressure the Ravens created was noticeable and mostly took Stroud out of his game. With an elite Oline and a top flight QB, you should be able to compete in any game. If a Mike Evans or Coleman was added, I’m not sure that changes things significantly in a game similar to that one. Now maybe a healthy line does. Or an improved one. I’m skeptical of 1st round DBs. There are likely nice options for offensive skill guys to fit in later rounds or free agency. I’m an increasingly win upfront guy.
  8. My comment was largely an effort to trigger folks. I’m very pro-Jones and not exactly pro-TommyBoy. At the same time, I’ll certainly acknowledge who was here when Jones hit campus. Also, don’t have an issue acknowledging some good fortune and timing helping get guys here either. I figure we got some current Oline guys here because of that.
  9. I don’t religiously follow the Texans, but I think maybe the OC is staying because it’s ok to have patience. Continued success with Houston with result in future opportunities. Stay until you get the situation you want. Now off on random tangent. There’s considerable discussion about replacing QBs or simply how terrible they are with less discussion about how poor their Olines are. You can even take a look at “ disappointing” Trevor Lawrence. Well PFF says his Oline is bottom 6. Seattle, Carolina, Giants, Jets and Titans were worse. Washington is 24 but largely because Cosmi was the #4 Guard. Gates was the #16 C (so barely top half). Andrew Thomas Giants #18 T. Scherff of the Jags #20 Guard. Of all this teams referenced, that’s it for top 20 at the position. So maybe build upfront before determining the QB is the problem. All that to say, the Ravens pressured Stroud consistently enough to make things very uncomfortable. Chasing a WR is not the solution for that. Then compare to the Chiefs defensive success versus those same Ravens. Protect your passer. Harass your opponents. Skill guys of Singletary, Pearce, Schultz, Dell, Jordan, Metchie, Collins can be a winner. The Texans need to get their lines to next level. Murphy is at the top of the list for intriguing draftable players. If you think he’s Aaron Donald, you take him otherwise you build Oline.
  10. Great Tom Herman evaluation.
  11. He’d likely get my vote. On the positive side, his playoff defense kept the opponent in the 30s for the first time ina decade.
  12. I think technically Najee did start but believe Warren is the better ball carrier. They’re quality players and think hot hand is a reasonable strategy. Their arrivals on the team highlight the good and bad of the current Steelers. One a free agent. The other a 1st rounder when you don’t block particularly well and have holes on your defense. Warren was a far better deal than Najee.
  13. I see the real UT is at #8.
  14. All I know is every time I saw Oregon play their TE was making plays and scoring TDs. Whoever was coaching him had to be doing a bang up job.
  15. I’m not sure the Steelers need to draft 3 offensive skill guys with their first 3 picks. But think of the options they’d have.
  16. It was reported he didn’t want to switch. He was a starting CB. Not to say he was a lock down corner but top flight ones are hard to come by. We didn’t have an immediate replacement at CB. You did get a glimpse at CB without RW at OU. Not to say Watts makes the play, but both other options missed key tackles. There’s no guarantee that such a conversion works. And presumably RW should convert because he’s not fast enough/cover skills aren’t great. So the theory is in part convert him to S so he can get some man coverage. That’d likely be in the slot, which could in fact be more difficult than his existing role. Safety and CB are different skill sets. There’s not really anything Watts has shown to say he’s a S. I get it. He does have the potential, but the best converts are playmakers that have aged and lost some juice. He has not shown that playmaking ability. Where is this anticipation/breaking on the ball ability? I’m not sure it’s the exact reason but we have stopped blitzing him maybe because he couldnt finish the play. I hope he makes it. Maybe it’s safety. Maybe it’s cover 2 corner if that even exists in today’s NFL. But for us, it likely would be like Swoopes to TE would have been. Minimal impact.
  17. It did not force them to call time out. The run call thought was not bad but changing personnel and running a tight formation was. WBT mentioned higher up that not having the next play ready was the issue. If you run it, burn 15 seconds and keep the timeout because if the 49ers have the ball, they are burning 40.
  18. Thought Badgely got his butt cut. He probably isn’t 83% from 45 and 47. The rationale is convert one 4th and score a TD then you score more than 6. Personally I try the kick to tie, but the first one was fine. Catch the ball.
  19. Well Josh Reynolds killed two drives. Jameson Williams shoulda scored on the flea flicker. Sometimes you make the play; sometimes not. Campbells biggest screwup was the goalline time management.
  20. Mccaffery is averaging 3.3 yards per carry. The Lions pass D is not good.
  21. I think Reynolds can’t handle the thought of heartbreak at the hands of Justin Tucker again. He’s just unaware the Ravens lost.
  22. Not enough negative criticism for the Aggies WR dropping the 4th down ball.
  23. I never said that. Upthread there was talk about the loaded SF roster. Well? By the way, PFF had your KC Chiefs Oline rated #18 after the regular season. The Niners were #21. I’d take Allen. I think Burrow and more so Herbert are overrated. Of all those dudes Purdy is probably playing over his draft spot more so than the others.
  24. Dudes never done shit without the best trio of WRs.
  25. There’s nothing special about that Oline. The 49ers have quite a bit of draft capital in their skills guys, not to include Purdy. I too have a tendency to dislike overhyped players. Purdy ain’t that guy for me. Yet.
