  1. The QE pick on play 2 was monumental. Unforced. If he doesn’t majorly screw that play up, we may get a very different game. Sark needs to get creative on every first series. Give the D what they didn’t expect. He’s play calling early to not fold in half 2. Confuse the opponent, drain their confidence. Then let our talent and depth win out.

  3. When our dudes don’t finish on the blitzes, it won’t encourage the call. Remember Muhammad completely whiffing versus KU? Watts versus Bama last year? Really in 2021 to now our DBs have not been good at finishing. Ford isn’t a good pass rusher. Just last game our blitzes were failures. Now, if we have Hill and Catalon as blitzing LBs in pass rushing situations, you might have something. Gbenda might be useful. Per pff Catalon has not blitzed on pass downs.
  4. Gotcha. I’m first things first. Win our games. Win the Big 12. Then go from there. Lots of games to be played on both fronts.
  5. If we win out, there are only two teams that can go ahead of us. OU, OSU, and WVU are the only options. After today, it’ll be down to OU and whichever wins the WVU/OSU game. We need to play as though we lose, we’re out and win and you’re in.
  6. Was Presley warming up when Abreu got tossed? I’d say it’s pretty unlikely Abreu escapes that inning giving up no runs. That’s a pretty significant screwup in the matter of pride. The delay didn’t help. The resultant changes were worse.
  7. I’ve hardly watched since then. You tell me.

It wouldn’t be exact but you can look up each players number of pass rushes. You can look up how they’re aligned too. But I don’t know that you can differentiate rushing from the DL position versus Box or Slot positions. That impacts LBs but less so DBs. It won’t show blitzes on run plays. You can get an idea of how often guys rush the passer though.
  9. Catalon flies upfield so fast you do have to wonder if they just let it go and accept his aggression over a few misses. He may be physical enough to play around the LOS. Course he may blow out shoulder doing so.
  10. What the hell is a high level player? One that makes quite a few plays? If we’re talking all American, I’d like one of those. And the tenor is not that we’re looking for a high level player it’s that Thompson needs to be replaced. Safety wasn’t any more of an issue in our only loss this year than any other position. Probably less so actually. The biggest failures of safety play were Catalon and possibly Williams. I’d like to hear/see evidence of them being better. But I get it. Any play you see that the safeties don’t make that means it’s a problem. Never mind, The only sack we had versus OU was a 1 yard loss after missing an opportunity for impactful sack on the same play. Gabriel escaped up the middle on his longest run and most crucial pass. The corners missed multiple tackles that were crucial/impactful.
  11. Catalon has given up the most in the pass game thus far. He’s helped in the run game, but he’s also missed quite a few tackles. I get it fans like dudes that fly into the play. he’s played half the coverage snaps that Thompson has. He’s also played about 30-40% fewer/less snaps than Williams in coverage. As you said, he’s not likely to play full games and certainly not half a season worth. Williams hasn’t really proven much of anything. He made some solid plays versus OU and has a very bright future. He was beaten by Stogner on a key 3rd down out route. I’m not sure what he was doing on the big Stoops play. He helped make a play on the goalline. He also stood in the end zone on another while the runner walked in. Williams will most likely have played the 2nd most snaps of any safety after our next game. Odd that people wish to write off who has been our best safety the past two years. Highest graded, most tackles, most PBUs and most picks (probably most dropped too).
  12. I’m with you. Hit it hard and see what happens. If you trust Red in the wildcat, you should trust him here either as the RB or Qb.
  13. If he hits Worthy in the second window, it’s better odds than not he scores I’d say. Also notice the pass protection there. This was an incredibly significant play. It set the tone for the game for OU. QE was quite good for much of the time, but he missed some big opportunities. 3rd and 14 rolls right. There’s plenty of space to look downfield. Whittington was wide open. Throw away and we punt. The scramble in which he gets tackled inside the 10. Worthy is breaking open for 6. It’s good he’s moving/running, but he needs to understand situations a bit better.
  14. Looks like everyone is blocking right. If your ball carrier is 4.5 yards from paydirt and one defender is 2-3 deep in your backfield, it is not likely to be successful. Brooks is a patient runner. That will work occasionally on the goal line, but your best chance of consistent success is to hit it hard. He needs to know who the unblocked guys are and account for his nearest threat.
  15. They should sit him. I wonder how much he actually practiced last week. And in retrospect it makes our first OU play odd and a poor choice. A hobbled dude who was limited at practice as your sole blocker.
  16. Probably due to the recruiting aspect. There’s often quite a bit of shit talking Sooners after the game. Some dude was over walking by the band. I can’t imagine he was thanking them. During the Covid year Rattler and some other dude ran down to the Texas side to talk shit post game.
  17. Don’t believe he’s calling Worthy contact shy.

Even though we lost, it’s dumb that a game 2 would be more important. Diminishes the first one a bit. That doesn’t mean I’d rather it not happen.
  19. Well he sure didn’t call holding on the 2 pointer versus KU. They didn’t call squat versus Baylor and gave BU credit for touching the punt even though it traveled 40 yards with no discernible change in trajectory. They don’t really benefit ISU so that was probably fairly called.

Thanks for the response. I’ve been here long enough to know a bit of your current status and that you’ve been here a long time. I don’t need the current, personal greatness of you. I was curious about your athletic background. Good to know you couldn’t handle the physicality of football and chose track. I’ll stick with our loss and most of our losses are due to execution rather than emotion. And certainly Saturday was about execution. I do not disagree this means more to the Sooners although last year you quit trying to win. Emotion is important but there’s ton of shit matters more.
  21. Well damn since you put it like that. And of course, the offense gifted OU a short field early too. And they could have finished the last drive with one more first down.

I do get it asshole. I was there. And I just watched it again. It’s an emotional game. You get a pick early you go ape shape. You give up a TD. One team rises. The other fades. We didn’t lose on lack of emotion. We lost on lack of execution. Your first TD was on a play in which our safety and LB chased the motion. Great play call that dictated our reactions. Execution not emotion. We got a damn unsportsmanlike penalty after our TD. Probably only cause we wanted to have fun. Point is. Your failed possessions meant your emotions/fire weren’t carrying shit. Then a shitty call gave you an emotional lift. Just out of curiosity what sports did you play? That’s a serious question. I’m interested as to where you’re coming from.
  23. Only the once. I was joking. I’m not finished being pissed so rematch isn’t really on my mind yet.

Yeah OU was by no means perfect. But you were touting OU as shitting fire and Texas shitting rainbows. Not true. Now OU does sell there soul more so Texas in this game no doubt. There were a shit ton of things that could have occurred to change the outcome. That includes some that could have put it more in your favor. And the timekeeper screwing up the game clock after Bowman’s injury was potentially significant. In your favor. Unfortunately, on that first OU pick, Worthy was wide ass open and potentially scoring. QE chose poorly. There’s no bigger what ifs than that one since that set the tone for the entire game. And when you’re talking high and mighty about wanting it more, remember you had 3 failed offensive possessions in a row. Then your punter flopped on very minimal contact. So your offense and team got a jumpstart from a 100% horseshit call (yes, incredibly dumb of us to be in that position).
  25. Yes, I remember the review to call OPI on us. I don’t recall seeing that before. It’s been my stance from the get go this season that it wouldn’t necessarily be the Big 12 officials out to get us. It’d just be what has become the norm. And they likely wouldn’t take it out on OU. In my opinion OU holding on the Oline is not as blatant as it once was. This past weekend the outside WRs were pretty bad. On the one goal line play in which Brooks was held but also whomever 82 was blocking was something. If you’re that blatant in front of the officials, you fear no repercussions. There was a play earlier when the LT held Finkley, Stoops bear hugged Barron and somebody came back on Holmes and pushed him in the back. The two holds were drawn out with an unobstructed view.
