No a 6 year career is not typical. But it’s not typical that a dude comes to football late as a high schooler, works with 2/3 coaches under 2/3 schemes and misses a spring/summer/parts of a season either. Then the dude gets thrown at LT before he’s even mastered the RT spot and faces off against well above average to great players in the Big 12. He was more productive as a run blocker than in pass pro. And his struggle was mostly against quick twitch guys. So you say 4 year guy, but it was really his 3rd year, which is typically the natural progression for many Olinemen. He was heavily ridiculed and overly criticized. So what you highlighted was those handful of plays and perhaps even the meaningless stats I quoted - 1 sack, 1 pressure. Again against an NFL caliber dude. But certainly with 600 yards of offense and 50 plus points he made some good blocks in that game. I don’t have the stats now, but there are metrics from 2021 that says the run blocking was damn good. We also gave up fewer TFL that year than our opponents per game averages in all but 2/3 teams. We faced 3/4 top 10ish teams in that stat too. They were a well above average run blocking unit. But yes kudos to both Jones and Flood for where we are today. I just wish Jones hadn’t been a little bitch two years ago. So there. Your final word if you want it.
