2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.

1. Okay, we're worried about the psuedo-Christians losing their fear and hate. 2. Good point. We don't want our school shooters and other white mass-murderers invading Mexico. Donald cares. 3. Hi, anti-science psuedo-Christians and other degenerates. Let's watch the children burn and starve, exspecially that Greta Thumberger. 4. Hey, that's my gig! Well, except I just keep the money. -

Yours? Catering? Do we have caterers? Are we falling behind on this, too? Here it is again: We cannot allow a catering gap! Inside every t-sip and Duck is an Aggie trying to get out. Stout hearted men who want to be Aggies! No shit. -

Oh, you brawny manful fellow. Sooth us. Thanks, Brauny man. No big deal if we fail to get a player. Of course, I'm not sure why we would celebrate when we do land one, but I'm aboard. It's not a big deal. Fluidity of movement. Preach on! 1. It is August. 2. So, we can't have recruiting opinions for 11 months out of the year? You sure that's the business model you want? -

[Harris+Walz] The 2024 DNC: TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?!
RomaVicta replied to Bullneck's topic in Cloak Room
Kamala Harris looking straight at the camera with a smile is pretty much irresistable. There's a shot like that in the Montel Williams kerfuffle when the MAGA Idiots were painting her as a slut (they're so good with women!). Irresistable. He's also the missing male half of me; the one who actually knows how to do something practical. In my bloviations about the new paradigm where old politics about policy and the minutiae of campaign strategies is defunct, I felt hopeless about the willingness and ability of the pro-republic party to recognize the need for a new point of attack and then deploy the attack. I had no real ideas of what to do myself. Harris and Walz are not crippled by my defeatism. I've mentioned a few times about reading decades ago that the conservative impact on Americans was to make us stop thinking of ourselves as citizens but to think of ourselves as taxpayers instead. This turns attention or even consideration about the common good into a constant whine about what is being taken from me. Harris and Walz have taken up the banner of citizenship. Shared goals. Helping each other. Pushing back on the strange and toxic plague of hate brought on by the GOPs. The attack needs to be led by younger and more vital leaders. It is. Like the rest of you, I'm almost not sure what to do with this elation and possibility of large scale victory. I enjoy riding this wave with all of you. High school girls might learn that they are menstruating! They'll definitely learn what the GOP thinks of their dignity. Give Vance a few weeks. He may turn into one. He's about due for another metamorphisis and name change. The J stands for Jewish! This all sounds like it's directed at keeping their rabid base. I'm guessing they may even be getting bored with the same old shit. So, Walz was actually a big enough loser to join the military and didn't retire at the highest rank he attained while active? Cadet Bonespurs is going to have a ball with this stuff.- 5091 replies

As president, I promise be focused most of the time. I think Kamabala started as an attempt to mix her name with Obama's. He fucked it up, of course, which may be good for him. I don't think conflating any candidate with Obama would be good for the GOPs. The other possibility is something to do with NAMBLA. He likely belongs to the heterosexual branch of that noted organization. -
That's a really good run of cartoons. @Jive Turkey's swim one is great. Happy days.

Somebody at Texags linked to the Coaches Poll. They're skeptical about their rating at 20 (too high) and note they are the ninth place SEC team based on the poll. Let's see where they'd rank in the Big 12: Fourth in the Big 12 and only four spots ahead of Kansas. Three former Big 12 are also ranked above them: Texas, OU, and Mizzou. They love their traditions. [Thanks to @Focht Up for reminding me that Utah is also in the Big 12 and ranked above A&M.] -

I opened the link for a look. There's a video directly under the OP of Kennedy telling the story of the bear. He appears to be in his kitchen where he tells the story to a woman in a housecoat. "Ah!" I think. Maybe there will be a glimpse of Cheryl Hines in this casual morning scene. Nope. It's not Hines. "No, that woman can't be...what is she doing there with a cup of coffee in her hand as though she just came down from her bedroom?" Weird. (Actually clipped from video. No joke.) -

He is obsessed with ratings. He'll go nuts denying the results of all polls leading to the election. He will lapse into repetitive gibberish about how wronged he is and everybody else is a bad guy. He'll exit as a clown. Sadly, he'll never accept it. He'll keep milking the cult hopefully from a cell in the psych ward of a federal prison. Excellent. -

Defeating Trump is a good step, but we still have the malignancy of a large part of the electorate. Most of the people who became Trumpists were already GOP. Trump just showed up and said the quiet part out loud and seized the reins of the hate engine. That engine won't sink into the sea with Trump. Using the word Democrat instead of Democratic started off as the GOP's version of tu. Have times changed so that everybody uses that form? President Vance. President Vance at NATO. President Vance speaking to the nation from the Oval Office at a time of crisis or tragedy. It's a worse vision than President Palin...well, probably. I don't presume to explain things to you as you're clearly expert. Vance and Palin demonstrate what I believe to be the only possible impact of a VP choice is making a dreadful decision. People should be able to imagine the choice as a sufficient president and then forget about him/her. No real impact. If you have a clown waving pom-poms and shitting his pants, that's a concern and the VP choice will not fade to its usual obscurity. That's my observation over the years, anyway. All they need for party control is a majority of the GOP. Ever since Nixon, there have been about 25% of the GOP as dead-enders. Nixon left office with 24% support. They've been weaponized. They won't dissolve. They may find another guru as yet unidentified who is more adept than Trump. It's not going to be over for a long time. At least the prospect of this deplorable part of the citizenry just gliding in for the kill is now set aside. Viva la resistencia! -

When did they give up on the certainty that Trump was actually running the country and only weeks away from returning to the White House? Of all the predictions about the impact of the internet years ago, I don't recall anyone warning about massive cults. It was the information superhighway and we were all going to be learning great things via this newly available medium. I guess we can just add a "dis" in front of that name and it's perfect. -

They will only see what they are looking for. I agree with @Brisketexan & @Willfully Horn. Discourse is dead. Persuasion is useless. All you can expect from the cultists will be condescension or betrayal. It occurs to me as I see some of the above discussion about Black voters who choose Trump. Often it's wondered how they can so blindly vote against their own interest. Everybody who is not rich and voting for Trump is voting against their own interests. If it's only a single digit percentage of Black men voting Trump, they're beating the fuck out of the white man vote. -

Also, as has been pointed out many times, A&M took a Big 12 offense and team to the SEC which was still largely hostile to passing the ball. The SEC was surprised by the offense and JM eluding their rush complicated their adjustment. There would be no element of surprise in the Big 12 whose defenses were ready. Manziel was fun as shit to watch. A&M turbo-hyperventilation over him was funny to watch. -

Who are we calling kids here? Seriously. Twenty to early thirties? Collegians? I will presume to take up their perspective. I think when they say "too old" that they're saying more than "it's time for the young generation to take over." Two geriatrics where one is a criminal lunatic who manages to get elected and the other is well-meaning but is stuck in the past of political discourse and literally difficult to understand, present more than an aesthetic objection. I'm guessing that many view the world governments including the US as Greta Thunberg does. The short-sighted profit/growth driven economies and governments are doing very little to address issues that deal with their future. The olds still see the world as having a future similar to when they themselves were young. The olds are fucking way off. Climate cataclysm is the easiest example, and it indeed exemplifies what the young must be seeing in any number of contexts. They just really don't give a fuck, and there's nothing I can do about it. They see BLM and Me Too dismissed or even villified in the case of the former. They see 60s style police crackdowns on non-violent demonstrations on campus. They see a criminal system of justice unable to even jail the leader of an insurrection they saw on TV. There has been a cold-blooded collaboration between banks, governments, and colleges to strap them with high five to six digit debt the day they leave school to embark on their young lives. That is unconscionable, shameless, and mandatory. The college loans are unironically presented as providing "opportunity" while severely limiting same. Horrifying. The young already exist in a de facto fascist-authoritariam society in which their interests don't matter unless they conform to the rapine ways that got us here. Get the job to pay the loan to live the future your grandpa did which doesn't exist anymore. I won't promote what is essentially "we didn't include them, so why don't they feel included." Their world will go to shit and they will rightfully hate all of us as selfish materialists. So, yeah, I don't see myself having an easy time sidling up to a "kid" and offering to set them straight on how to run things. And, here in Idiot World, they'll blame teachers instead of the dickheads interfering with curricula from above. We've got tons to share. How do you think we got ourselves and the world to where it is today? My friends, there is a rich fountain of absurdity or absurdism going around. Wisdom is in short supply and always has been. Age does not automatically confer it. Close to my take. The GOPs are evil and the Dems are weak. Maybe the Dems are bucking up. -

Facilitiesfacilitiesfacilities is one of those things anybody can do if they have the money. In their heads, it provides an off the field victory that they can crow about. Somebody else might think, "you know, that quarter of a bil we spent on facilities didn't really bring in any revenue or elevate the program. Maybe we should rethink our investment strategy." Not the redass Aggies. "Our facilities are second to none, but we're still lagging on recruiting, performance on the field, and ROI. What do we learn from this? We learn that we just haven't spent enough on our facilities to get the guaranteed results gold-plating always brings. HOWDY!" They like it because their teams will ever be mediocre and irrelevant, but they can brag about their facilities. It's like their claim about halftimes being contests that they never lose. No scoring. No judging. No records. Their favorite situation for claiming victories. -

Holy shit! 1 Ok, that covers number one of four. Let's check out number 2 once we've digested number one. Okay, ready? Good! 2 Boy, that's a lot of insight to take in. I may have to take a nap before proceeding. 3 On to point number 4. One trivial Aggie thing is that he announces 4 points then uses letters to distinguish them. It's the little things. 4 In summary: A. Get really good players. B. Get really really good players. Players with pop! C. Get really really really good players. Impact players! D. Ummm, be like Vanilla Ice and get it done. We better alert Sark that A&M has additional strategies besides having players practice, lift weights, and be cultured. Doom. -
