Still, he was the far better candidate. The re-election of W was an abysmal moment for the country. -

I'm old enough to recall a time when it felt a little like this. This sea change is awesome. Truly awesome. This is a forceful expression of embracing citizenship and looking ahead. I also feel like the Dems have realized that they can sometimes place the common cause above their divergent interests and constituencies. I'll overstate it, but the herd of cats becomes a pride of lions. So thrilling. -

Get ready for the word quadroon. Why are bleks even voting for her? She's not even a quadroon! It's like Aggies pointing to the day they opened their doors as proof that they are indeed big brother. They're idiots who just don't get it. It's not the fucking DNA. It's that she does, indeed, get it for persons of color. -

I had to return to my desk to work and missed that part. I expected the Lady Gaga number to be a drag show prior to us seeing any faces. It would have been great. Gaga was great, anyway. @Brisketexan was the first I heard saying "cruelty is our brand." We know whom he meant. Outraged intolerance also fits in there. I usually don't watch opening ceremonies because they're slow with walking athletes and annoying with the constant drone of announcers spewing needless facts and detail. My beloved coaxed me to watch with her at lunchtime. Using the river was a fabulous idea to start with. Add all the spectacle and nice mix of new and old, my jaw dropped about every 4 minutes when Coke was sponsoring commercial free. Celine singing from the tower at the end was so very powerful, and she is basically never on my radar. The French set a very high mark. I'm not surprised, they do so many things well that we often scorn just because it's French. -

I think my name may be in there somewhere in size 9 font. Glen Gaspard's brother coached at my hs. He was fun. A friend of mine took a hit to the stomach or something. I was already out for the season with another knee injury. They brought my friend to the sideline groaning and holding his gut. Gaspard turns to me, "RomaVicta, run to the concession stand and get a large coke. Go to the front of the line and tell them it's for an injured player." I did so on my recovering knee. Urgently, I went over a fence and to the front of the line as directed. The sympathetic lady at the counter rushed to fill a large cup with the requested remedy. The hurt player was one of my closest friends. I retraced my steps carefully balancing speed with care not to spill a drop. I dutifully arrive back at the scene. My friend still moans on the ground. I hand Coach Gaspard the cup. "Thanks, RomaVicta!" Gaspard drinks it down himself. A second short story? It was late in the season, and I was hanging around on the field prior to a game in street clothes knowing I wouldn't play football again. I was wondering if I should even be with the team as I hadn't played a down of a game. I went down in two-a-days which seemed like years before. Remember how slow time moves when you're that young. I don't know if he read my face or what. Coach Gaspard sidles up to me. "RomaVicta, where's your tie? Coaches wear ties." I get moved just recounting that story after not thinking of it in decades. He was concerned that the tu faggy dildo-wavers in Asstin the center of evil, bullying, arrogance, irrelevance, and toxicity weren't being respectful enough to the rough tough real stuff Texas A&M Fighting Texas Aggies from Texas? I suppose we should mimic their ways. -

At the debate should there be one: Holy shit, Donald. What is that under your chin? Ewwww. I'm sorry. Are you okay? Can that thing be removed? Is that Silly Putty? I'm concerned about you. It will cost him the aesthete vote for sure. Also anyone with a gag reflex. I've missed this. I watched the ceremony and thought it was spectacular. How were my feeling supposedly hurt? -

They're likely being influenced by the fact that there are a lot of quotes about it, but I'll tip my hat if they adapt to the actual story more swiftly than I anticipated. -

I'd stay away from that one because I hear him saying, "I'mmaahh a Christian." Focus on that, and there is room for doubt. I wouldn't choose, as Dem strategy, to claim ground I'll have to defend. He'll get the question from others. He'll say what I wrote above, and I'd let it go to get to this: There is no room for doubt in his promise that "you won't have to vote ever again and everything will be fixed." I'd claim that ground and attack putting him on the defensive. He offers opportunities like this all the time. Just because it doesn't fit the CNN/TV News template for covering an election like a horse race, doesn't mean you can't break that template by hammering, hammering, hammering. Soooo, you're looking to make America Great Again? This gets back to my weird deal about the TV news media. They've largely become quote services. Dickhead A says this. A few other Dickheads say this about that. Let's go to the panel. They do not frame a story with attention to what's vital. I think many Dems, for awhile including me, expected these incompetents to express what is going on in the big picture. It's too dangerous for them to report what they observe (pussies) and not in the templates unless it's a war or mass murder. They follow quotes. Trump produces attacks and quotes constantly which are picked up by Wolf and the boys at CNN who ask Dems and their precious panels to disprove the remarks. Who is on the offensive and who on the defensive? The girls on MSNBC (and a couple of dudes. They're even white!) do a great job in covering and analyzing the real story, but they're despicable libs who are all clearly DEI hires who weren't good-looking enough to rise at Roger Aile's FOX. The Dems coming into the spotlight now get it. They launch attacks by quoting Trump which means the cycle could become that Trump and MAGA appear on TV trying to explain things brought up by Dems that should have always been on the front burner for TV journalists. I feel like this will playout, at least public discourse-wise, like the Nazis gearing up everything for the final assault on Moscow but being smashed by an attack from Russian forces bolstered by Siberian battalians who were fresh, veteran, and well equipped. This stops here. I don't know how the silly Electoral College will work out, but I believe we will see a surge in Dem enthusiasm (No shit, Roma) and young enlistment in their (our) ranks. -

The songs both sides have been singing for decades have become worn out and ring hollow. Dishonesty hollowed out the GOP songs and, evidently, gets them tuned out by most as soon as the intro starts. Basic out-of-touchness by the Dem leadership aged and hollowed their songs about the threat to medicare and the lukewarm statements about real, current problems such as climate, medical care, and being a good ally. (I hate the way the Dems never found a riposte for "the world is laughing at us." I'd love to see an ad quoting Trump over and over as we see him crowd the queen, toss a fellow head of state aside, get scolded by the European allies, salute a N. Korean general, and consult with fucking Vlad Putin.) One side found a new, vigorous voice that maintains Democratic themes but applies them enthusiastically to things people care about. This voice is bright, honest, and in-tune. The other sticks to the old formula which worked so well to drum up hard core support through shameless and dishonest hate mongering. The hate addicts are still down for it, but they're not getting as many people to try out the cult as they used to. You're right. The American people were tired of blah-blah-blah, but what was the alternative? Now there is one. -

She sounds politically smart, but she cleaves to the tired old songs that used to rouse the hate and disdain. Kamala's progressive. We're moving ahead and we're not going back. Good. Kamala failed on the border. Trump failed on the border and managed to fail on the border when he wasn't even in office. Kamala is against drilling and fracking. We're going to face the climate crisis. Good. Looking ahead. Kamala's more progressive than Joe Biden. True! The Republicans are regressive and how is that working? Good. It finally feels like someone smarter than me is running the campaign. It also feels like people smarter than me and better speakers are beginning to steal the show. It also feels like there may be a Democratic rebirth to pull the country out of this hideous spiral to fascism. Yes, we can! We're not going back! Obamala changes the country. Biden held off the barbarians maybe just long enough. -
I wonder if adopting language like "When they say DEI, we know what they mean." "We know what they mean when they say a woman didn't earn a position they covet. They mean that a woman can't." I thought earlier about, "When you hear DEI they're thinking n-word," but it's too direct. I like for the n-word reference to happen in the mind of the listener.

I'm joining the neg fest, Sport. You will lie about your non-support of Trump. You will republish lies. You will not make a single good-faith argument. You're a bot, a Russian, or a particularly enthusiastic amateur operative. You're an embarrassment to the deplorables--well, I guess not since they will cheer you. You personify them.

In one stroke, Trump is forced to the defensive and suddenly on the verge of becoming the laughing stock he should have been all along. I'm stunned. Harris is way too nimble for plodding Donald's lazy reliance on old attacks. He's looking foolish. And looking that way to a lot of people. -
Did anybody from Texas talk about this rivalry during SEC day? I know we talked about OU which is a big deal. I continually get the feeling that the SEC people go exclusively to Aggies to talk about our arrogance and expectation to run things on and off the field. A&M is an important game to us. It has nothing near the intensity of the OU game. It hurts them to think that. Weirdos

Think of all the heroes the Aggies will celebrate for giving their lives to preserve the Aggie Spirit.
