  1. How does one view holding an elective office in Washington D.C.? It's employment to feed your family and get great perks. It's like working at a big corporation where you put in your time eat the shit you must eat for the sake of your family and yourself. The actual job description is to support the Constitution and act in the best interests of the nation and your constituency, but we all know that's all bullshit. This thread has been very depressing the last few pages. The buffoonery surrounding the actions of a hateful tyrant. Wearing baseball caps, selling perfume, name-calling, the president unleashes an army of masked thugs on persons of color whom he villifies at criminal with absolutely no evidence. Ironically, it's depressing because it makes me want to laugh dismissively although I remain murderous. Maybe those ingredience combine for malaise and melancholy. Oh well. Sort of a pointless post. Nothing fresh or amusing. Like our world at the moment.
  2. It's a genetic condition that creates an optical illusion in beholders of the thumb toe?
  3. So, if we get three of four from Sarandon, Graham, Biel, and Fox, we'll have a top 3 class?
  4. I stopped watching the trailer half way through when I remembered the book. Even know what you're talking about, I didn't want to see it before seeing the movie. Luckily, it was in time.
  5. We can trust the death committees to make the right decisions.
  6. I'm going to a July 4 party hosted by a Dem that will have many MAGAs present. In the past, nothing has been said about Trump. I'm feeling acquiescent just attending the same parties they do. I want to put a Mexican flag on our fence on the ranch road we live on to show Latinos some of us don't think they're dangerous criminals, but that would be too provocative according to my beloved. She's not a Trumpist. She sends more money, by far, than I do. Writing here and talking only among friends who agree begins to seem and feel cowardly. I give a piddling amount of money to groups that are more active, that feels like too little as well. Getting membership emails from GLAAD doesn't really make me feel like I'm part of the fight. They surely are; they're on the front line. I'm struggling with this. My disapproval turns inward. Napoleon instructed all of his generals and marshalls that they must always march towards the sound of guns. I'm not really doing that. Makes me feel complicit in the coming defeat.
  7. Tryna show me up, eh Carton? Throwing me under the tumbril? I'll have my revenge, damn you!
  8. The entrapment statement seems like something TexAgs would say if their QB were accused of sexual assault. The sips set him up. We told you young'ns about tu, do you believe us now? In sexual assault cases, I generally start out believing the woman. Sadly, if it's he said she said, it's hard to prove. Predators rely on this. I guess that works both ways. A predatory woman could use the same veil. I just don't think many women (a few, surely) would go through all of this. No matter, either a woman was assaulted or a man's reputation for life is damaged due to false accusation. Something bad is happening to someone. I believe women because such a huge number of them experience varying degrees of assault or harassment during their lives.
  9. Are all you guys astronauts or something?
  10. Sir, why didn't you vote in the last election? Do you think Trump policies are harming America?
  11. The songs are good, but they shouldn't be the prime provider of emotional content. That's pretty much the definition of a melodrama. Great music videos, but that's not why I watch.
  12. We all know about the controversy when the great boxer Clay changed his name to Cassius.
  13. Somehow, the ease with which this discussion has switched to streaming tips indicates to me the detioration of the show. The digression is not drowned out by enthused observations. The fuck you-fuck you arguments last season became unbearable (no pun intended). The creator now loves having all disagreements immediately become loud voices speaking at the same time. It's not unrealistic but it isn't ubiquitous either. This becomes annoying rather than fresh. The quiet moments just about always are comprised of interminable moments of a character groping for words. Again, not unrealistic but not ubiquitous and now annoying. @Jimbaround has it right: spit it out already! Carm running all the way to Claire's to say something and then fumbling for ten minutes is, IMHO, a fumbled opportunity. For once, somebody knows what they want to say to the extent that they can't wait to say it. How nice of a change in style and how appropriate to the moment would it be if Carm blurts it out immediately? Take the dialogue from there. I'll watch the rest of the season. The special for the young woman who wanted their classic sandwich and to see snow in Chicago is the only trace this season of the magic created early on when the staff learns to do new jobs in a real restaurant. No, I'll add Carm telling Mike what a restaurant is as he makes sauce in their home. But that's about it so far for me anyway. Lastly, this is not a condemnation of those who still love the show. That's great. Truly.
  14. The music dominates too much. The show feels like a music video in the first few episodes. Have faith in your dialogue and actors. I fell asleep when Syd was getting her hair done. The show is limping.
  15. I tend to agree with @billfromlaketravis. While the ease of admission to A&M makes it easier for the existing family tradition Aggies to keep it going, the volume of students admitted who don't give a shit about joining in on all the weirdness will make traditional aggies less dominant. Only in the last 15 years have I encountered many Aggies who immediately volunteer that they are 2%ers. They're embarrassed by the stupid shit. There have always been some Aggies who were normal, but I never heard anyone claiming to be despicable 2%ers.
  16. No shit. Amid the blather and jungle of pronouns, there was this: Ironic that one of your few coherent sentences, William, mentions Longhorn logic. I guess we'll just have to own the weird notion that winning defines status in sports. It's obvious why Aggie logic, such as it is, prefers a different standard: we're loud! Yes you are. You're probably louder than us. Now go get your shinebox. It's a waste of time making fun of that whole line of drivel. You can't really parody it. He makes Olin look like Pulitzer Prize material. I'll just do this one thing because it's so Aggie: Their upset record is impressive against teams [they've] played. Impressive? Not compared to your record against the teams you haven't played. You had a 12 game win streak against us! You won the Big 12 those same seasons! Iron sharpened iron! You were SE motherfuckin' C!
  17. Thank the new God that I have a white man pass! Really digging the new middle part in Big Brother's gorgeous hair
  18. I think there is the usual confusion between underrated and under appreciated. Big Trouble in Little China flopped at the box office. When I saw it in the theater, I was amazed that it wasn't killing it. I don't recall the reviews, but I see that it's got a so-so rating in IMDB and Rotten tomatoes. It also seems to have a cult following (clearly brilliant people of good taste and likely good-looking). So where do you put this movie? Heaven's Gate is underrated, IMHO.
  19. Yes, William, it's part of the sunshine pumping campaign that is based in generating delusions of relevance. Even though these influencers do indeed brainwash Longhorns, their toxic dreamweaving is largely designed to convince Aggies that guys who chose A&M didn't actually choose A&M.
  20. Kind words, and you're right. When you think about it, wouldn't we all like to be an even better Le'Veon Moss? All filled with the colorful purpose of running through motherfuckers' faces? Dream on that, my friends. Dream on that.
  21. ETA: I can't shake the recollection of when I first found Hornfans back in 2000. The @SL Xpress handle and the clever turn of phrase triggered that. I was living in Los Angeles and suddenly felt like I was right back in Texas maybe sitting at Memorial Stadium before the start of the game and surrounded by wise asses critical of everything but funny. Anyway, a nostalgic walk down Memory Lane.
  22. Compliments to both on this exchange: We're Marie Antoinette. They're the rabid mob. We're winning the wit war and losing everywhere else.
  23. Changing the names of Navy ships. The Trump administration is having the USNS Harvey Milk re-named. They've also delayed the start of a ship to be called the Thurgood Marshall. From the CBS story; Harriet Tubman may be the bravest American in history or certainly in that class of the courageous who cannot be surpassed. I'm ashamed that I didn't know her story until the last decade. Milk was a dive instructor in the Navy until he was discharged for being gay. They had to throw him out of the service. Donald Trump couldn't be dragged into the service. He'd have gone down on the recruiting officer if getting a gay deferment were his only option. The kernels of corn in the shit of every person named above outshine Donald Bonespurs Trump. Racisim, sexism, homophobia all on display via the Navy due to the shitwad president and the ocean of shitwads who either voted for him or couldn't be bothered to vote at all. Goodnight, America.
