  1. I was just ragging on the representative. I've seen AI that writes pretty well, but that wasn't my point, amigo.
  2. The daughter of a friend is a climatologist who married another climatologist. That sounds like the opening to a joke, but it's not. One's a professor and the other is a highly paid consultant. They've elected not to have children.
  3. Not good enough to be AI.
  4. Hi! I come from the insulting world of Boilerplate. What a load of corporate PR sounding bullshit. You can't muster up the gumption to write a truly personal note? I'm guessing the writer is a grad student which is a class of people destroying American writing and language. Two years have passed, but the indescribable horror of what happened in those two classrooms remains vivid to Uvaldeans. To me, as well.... [right off the top of my head] Fuck what you think positive change is and your commitment to it. I count on the good guy with a gun to save the day. The template is always on standby. What type of gun? Where was it purchased? Roll call of the dead with family pix. Discussion about gun control. Impact on political races. Same images of weepers hugging in the foreground of the murder scene. Never: What is going on with our culture? Does this fit our mythology of just about every conflict being solved by killing somebody? What has led to the frequency increasing? Actual mental health policy rather than merely a casual reference. Panels, panels, panels...
  5. His military experience doesn't tell us much even though it's presented as all the proof you need that this guy is an ideal person for anything. It's clearly a tragedy of affirmative action. For me, affirmative action is weak sauce. It doesn't go far enough. I maintain that there should be a minimum of a ten year reprieve from white men in government above any position higher than supervisor. I'd do it in the private sector as well. Let's undergo the plusses and minuses of having women and persons of color run things for a while. I'm not kidding. I don't vote for white men if I can avoid it. TV news should address racism in the same they should address the anti-republic nature of the GOP. They may report a story like this and get the usual panel of mostly black people to discuss how this just might be racism. One of the panelists may dare to allude to the political plutonium that is CRT. Then, the panel goes away so another panel can talk about the important aspect of the Gaza slaughter or "climate change:" how will this affect the presidential race. They will not start from the fact of racism or the fact of the threat to the republic posed by MAGA. They keep this in the sphere of opinion because that's the template. They can't bring themselves to change what they call what is a climate emergency headed for climate cataclysm. "There's still time." No, there's really not. Your sponsors are automobile companies showing SUVs roaring across the desert. Yee-haw! As the thread proves over and over, we got a white man problem.
  6. I hadn't been following this story. I was stunned two days ago to learn this is all about an application for a gun purchase. I seriously doubt that this is the average way a case like that goes. Twenty-five years? That's nuts.
  7. Very kind. Thank you.
  8. Tall, amusing, polite, and good-natured worked well enough for me. Fat but muscular. White.
  9. Appreciate that, Rex. I don't know that much Hamas' spinning has made it across my plate. We can see the campaign, even through Israel's hostility to journalists, and it's bloody results. I don't hate Israel. I should make that clear in light of my other posts. This is a terrible policy directed by an amoral politician with bloodlust and fear for his political future. They have a right wing that is evidently as poisonous and vile as what our own has become. I've mentioned my sympathy for Israeli citizens horrified by this campaign and wanting it to stop. Israel is way wrong on this, the position of the Israeli population is disparate. Hamas is through and through despicable. Their idiotic and hopeless goal of destroying Israel is repulsive. Their acts to make life better for Palestinians are clearly cynical and were done for the aim of staging from Gaza. I'm fine if every single one of them ends up dead. My profound objection is the use of Palestinian civilians as the medium for this war. They are not actually part of the war. That's why I object to using the word "war" describe Israeli bombing, displacement, and starving of Palestinians. It's a separate campaign as far as I'm concerned. If I muddied your point of view via my answering post, I apologize.
  10. What is the consensus about Aggie recruiting so far? It looks like Elko is doing pretty well. I looked at 247 (that's not an endorsement. IDK what you think of it.), to get an idea of where they stand: I've heard doubts raised about some of these guys, but what do y'all think overall?
  11. The reason is that the sports media are the dumbest people in the world paid to write. Your point is clear and right. Their ability to follow steps in reasoning is non-existent. They are profoundly anti-intellectual. They don't look beyond the surface. As for critical thinking, I give you this annual dance: Big university coaching job opens up. Hot current coach is mentioned immediately as a likely target. All of that is fine. Now: Every public appearance the prospective coach makes, the geniuses pepper him with, "Coach are you leaving your job?" Coach: I have no plans. Right now, I'm focussed on this season. The repeated question is idiotic, but they get dumber. Sportsguy to other sports guy: "Do you think all of this speculation about the coach is hurting his team?" "Has to be, fellow dumbass, because the question keeps coming up." No acknowledgement that they are driving the controversy because they can only handle one story at a time. Coach, at end of season when it always fucking happens, announces he's leaving the great program he is with to go to Big U. Sportsmedia: So, he was lying when he said he had no plans to leave Littler U. Fucking morons.
  12. Somebody is fishing around for an audience. Hmmm. Tell lies about Texas. In fact, repeat Aggie lies about Texas. Somebody's horning in on William's gig. Mike knows the audience. I bet he has thousands of Aggie followers by the end of the football season.
  13. Isn't that the same thing Israel is betting on? They're killing a lot of Palestinian civilians in case you haven't been paying attention. They say they're always being really careful but the bodies pile up, neighborhoods are razed, and tens of thousands of people not associated with Hamas face starvation. (We can't call it a famine because the UN lawyers have a specific definition for that. You can see there is famine, but you can't use the word. Just ask the journalists.) Nothing can redeem the wickedness of Hamas, but they're not hypocrites. We'll attack civilians. That'll show you! That should scare everybody into submission. Fuck the Israeli slaughter campaign in Gaza. Fuck any shitstain who attacks a Jewish person because they're Jewish. Not hard to separate the two.
  14. And, sadly, they are bullied and scorned by the Cabal who won't see their truth or share their ignorant, insecure hate.
  15. Dunst's last scene is powerful. Throughout the movie, she becomes slowly less detached. I thought she was great.
  16. A slight but important addition above. The Jews were no more an enemy to Germany than these guys are to us: Then you have persons who have chosen low pay and difficult working conditions to teach childred AND GROOM THEM TO BE GAY SEX VICTIMS. Black people wanting convenient voting. And don't get me started on the Socialists. I can only scan this thread. I heard of this concentration camp plan earlier. Like all things Trumpist, it sorta gets lost in the churn of stolen state secrets, dictator for a day, pardoning insurrectionists, abandoning Ukraine, and all the rest. We must "secure our borders" from desperate families and treat them in a way we would not consider for our dogs. The only reasons for hating them have all turned out to be lies as far as I can tell. The problem hasn't been even clearly defined beyond xenophobia. Even if I assume there is a problem and these persons should not be allowed to live in the US, our solution should not involve Army troops, razor wire, and concentration camps. Maybe we federally fund social services and more immigration courts. Again, I've not been convinced of the problem of these immigrants coming to America. They do great skilled labor work and grunt work that Americans, once the cream of blue collar workers themselves, scorn. Peeing into a pretty stiff wind today. I'm a heterosexual cisgender white man. I'll be fine if I just keep my mouth shut and don't rock the boat. Too bad for women, non-binaries, and persons of color.
  17. Even that rancid audience got a little uncomfortable with Rudy's analysis of Fani's name. Quite the Champions of American Democracy display behind him. Not sure what Bill Gates (if that is him) is doing up there. Looks like there's a monkey at far right.
  18. Rock Westfall Not a sleezy character. A journalist! Yes, both quotes do. The first represents the power of the Big Lie. The second quote shows, once again, the value of an A&M education and the way Aggies embrace their honor code. They've scored a little victory by irking me this morning. Texas held the Big 12 together after the cowardly departures of Nebraska and A&M. Colorado jumped out of FOMO. Missouri left because...who cares? The Big 12 was ruled by equal votes among the schools where A&M voted with Texas almost all the time. Nebraska's unfair advantages (unlimited non-qualifiers) were neutralized by votes where Nebraska was the lone dissenter as they were on votes about raising academic levels. In the SWC, Texas (DKR) introduced the idea of the entire conference sharing bowl revenue back when there were fewer bowls. A&M had larger recruiting classes than Texas did in the 1960s and still got dominated. Texas always included A&M in their plans. The news story is the insane jihad the Aggies have against ebil tu. They're all in on the liar cult. The quotes pretty much say it all, indeed.
  19. I wonder if they're the actual idiots. I feel like an idiot for watching all of the first season. The trailers seem to be overcorrecting for the confusion in Season 1. Fight for the true king! We fight for the king! War is bloody. GOT used dragons cleverly by alluding to their power and making you think they were in the past. We then spend seasons awaiting and anticipating what Danyrs' dragons will be like and what they will do. It was breathtaking when one attacked with the Dothraki. Now they're all over the fucking place and I think of them as CGI elements. That they can incinerate an entire army makes them sort of like atom bombs. Who would ever march or go into battle in close order in the face of a dragon attack? I'll see what y'all say about Season 2. I could be drawn in if convinced it's not another tedious season posing and screaming births (that seems to be the new gratuitous element in movies and TV now; maybe it will replcace actors vomitting whenever they hear bad news.).
  20. I abandoned the show after the shootout in the club. I just didn't care about the club or who would take over the gang. The high praise here makes me inclined to go back and give the second half of the season another chance.
  21. Watched it over the weekend. I thought it was great. The picture that slowly develops behind the end credit was genuinely chilling. I often think Kirsten Dunst is an underappreciated actress. It took me a moment to recognize her partner as the guy who played Pablo Escobar in Narcos. I think the movie turns on the observation that the death of a reporter about midway through the movie turned out to be, as Pable Escobar actor says, for nothing. It seems to resonate with Dunst. Her actions after that reflect, IMHO, her changing perspective on what she does. Surprisingly good even with fairly high expectations.
  22. That's just sad. "We're a player. Really, we're players for these top guys who are nice to each other and don't say bad things about us. Don't let anybody tell you we're not in play." Can't be proved wrong unless players announce they aren't considerint A&M seriously. Lake Bryan is lit!
