  1. aggy word speak. Texas passed us and we're not in it.
  2. Fat Hamm with word salad TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M. Key notes from Recruiting Country Everything that Mike Elko has done has been almost 180 degrees different than the way things were happening a year ago. When the pool party looks different than it has in the past, everybody in the fanbase, up to this point, has been on board with these changes. What Mike Elko said yesterday about nobody having missed a workout last summer when last year we had guys missing multiple workouts a week. All of that has changed. When they have a different feel for the way they want to run these recruiting events, shouldn’t this guy get the benefit of the doubt? Everything he does has been done with a purpose. To me, I’m confident that whatever Mike Elko does. There is a real thought process, strategy and reasoning for it. In a month, you are going to host a massive home game in front of the national audience, and that is going to portray what Texas A&M is better than a late-July pool party with nobody on campus. It would be great if they went out and got Trey McNutt III‍, Jonah Williams‍ and Kaliq Lockett‍, but if they don’t, just stick with Mike Elko. There is a method to what he is doing. He has a lot of his class done, and a lot of the work is already done. I think this party was more of a jump start for the class of 2026 rather than creating more momentum for the class of 2025. Noah Mikhail‍ and a bunch of the California guys were able to come. I believe there were only two from in-state that didn’t make it. Deondrae Riden‍ had a test to graduate early, and Tyler Thomas‍ at Dickinson had it hard due to all the rain. This was the first time that this mass group of commitments was all together in one place. It was about making a bond. The group chat got so much better, I bet. Getting them together was the important thing here. To learn to be tight-knit and loyal to each other so in a month, you have those guys coming in with that bond formed already. Texas A&M’s best selling point in the fall is what Saturdays look like in Kyle Field. To open this season with a marquee matchup, they’re going to take every advantage. From what we are hearing right now, that guest list is going to be star-studded. There are going to be some elite players from the class of 2025 and 2026 on campus. Trey McNutt is the big one. He came in the day before the pool party and went to Oregon for an unofficial visit. A&M did a fantastic job. They had a very personable and personalized visit. There were a lot of one-on-one talks about how Texas A&M would serve Trey McNutt and vice versa. The Aggies did a really good job heading into that Oregon visit. It was massively important that he moved his commitment date back. I truly believe that it is a coin flip. This is a kid that, if A&M lands him, will be Mike Elko’s best recruiting job. When a kid gets set in his mind that he is favoring one place, it is hard enough to break into that line of thinking, much less to surpass it. It is hard enough to find a crack in the door to get in. If A&M wins out, not only have they come from behind, but they have completely changed this kid’s mind on what his future is going to look like. From what I’ve heard, I think his family is very comfortable with him playing football in the state of Texas. Trey McNutt has been in Houston a lot this summer training. That could play a factor in this thing. I’m not sitting here saying who is going to win, I am just giving you the reasons why it could be Texas A&M. Jonah Williams’ decision is going to be 99.99 percent a football decision because of what has happened to the baseball rosters. You only get 34 players. Jonah is a legitimate dual-sport athlete. I think he is a professional baseball prospect, but he is also an NFL player. He is a rare breed of athlete. For Texas A&M, they have always been in it. They have been kind of under the radar. It goes to what Mike Elko was talking about at SEC Media Days. All the work is being done behind the scenes. I feel the same way about Michael Fasusi‍. I have a feeling that Texas A&M is closer to those guys than people are saying. Do not throw your toys out of the bin if Texas A&M doesn’t land any of those guys. There is so much time now. Talent acquisition and roster management is almost a year-round thing. The Aggies could start a linebacker that didn’t even play spring ball in Solomon DeShields. A&M will be able, under this coaching staff, to put a plan in place if you don’t land your big high school guy. Obviously, that is the priority, but if we don’t, there is a plan to mitigate that. People freaked out about some Snapchat Kiotti Armstrong‍ posted from his Texas visit. He was wearing A&M stuff the same day. Kiotti is fine with Texas A&M. I have heard nothing else
  3. Truth. Both my sons were involved for about 6 yrs a piece. It is definitely a bizarre subculture.
  4. It's so funny to read and listen to the discrepancy in Jonah Williams. LSU thinks he will never play pro baseball because of his inconsistent hitting. OTF thinks he will be a first round draft pick in next year's MLB draft & never play college football
  5. Olin Buchanan is a dipshit Texas brings nothing the SEC didn't already have, not even corny dogs By Olin Buchanan July 17, 2024 DALLAS — Gravedigger. The Kick Six. Punt, Bama, Punt. The Camback. Iconic football plays and legendary moments just don’t add as much to a college football rivalry as… corn dogs and turkey legs? Is that how Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s comments on Wednesday at 2024 Southeastern Conference Media Days should be interpreted? More likely, Sarkisian was just covering for his boss. Or maybe Sarkisian just has a Fletcher’s fetish. To explain: Last month at the SEC spring meetings in Destin, FL, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte — reminding the SEC how lucky it was to join Texas — droned on about how the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma was now the SEC’s premier grudge match. “Have you been to the Red River Rivalry yet?” Del Conte asked SEC Network star Paul Finebaum. “It’s ridiculous. It’s the greatest thing ever. You may talk about the Cocktail Party (Florida vs. Georgia), the Iron Bowl (Alabama vs. Auburn). It’s nothing like this game.” Yeah. Texas-Oklahoma overshadows Alabama’s Jalen Milroe completing a last-second game-winning pass last year. Or Auburn’s Chris Davis returning a missed field goal 109 yards for a win in 2013. Or Cam Newton leading a dramatic come-from-behind 28-27 victory in 2010. Or Auburn’s Bill Newton blocking consecutive punts for touchdowns in the final five minutes in 1972. Anyone who follows college football knows that’s ridiculous. But Sarkisian, perhaps the good soldier, had his boss’ back. Sarkisian, once Alabama’s offensive coordinator, has coached in both games. On Wednesday, he was asked why Del Conte would make that absurd statement. “This is the most unique game, for sure, that I’ve ever been a part of,” Sarkisian said. “When you pull into the State Fair (of Texas), and you start smelling those corn dogs and turkey legs, and there’s fans from both teams, and then you get in those locker rooms, and the locker rooms literally are 20 feet apart, and you’re staring at each team, and one goes first, the next one goes next, and it can get a little contentious in there, but that’s OK.” Sarkisian went on to rave about how there is a 50-50 split of fans in a dilapidated Cotton Bowl. Of course, it’s the same when Georgia and Florida square off every year in Jacksonville in what was once known as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Hey, Lindsay Scott’s miraculous game-winning 92-yard touchdown catch-and-run in 1980 is nothing compared to Oklahoma beating Texas on a three-yard pass last season. Texas’ misguided self-perceptions of superiority aren’t new. Just a few weeks ago, Longhorn quarterback Quinn Ewers said: “We’re going to be everybody’s biggest game, for sure.” Apparently, he’d forgotten Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Missouri and nine other teams also reside in the SEC. Also, frequently at SEC Media Days, reporters covering the Longhorns have asked coaches like LSU’s Brian Kelly, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin and Georgia’s Kirby Smart to laud the Longhorns. Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports The Longhorns have three SEC road games this fall: Nashville, Fayetteville and College Station. Kyle Field has added over 20,000 seats since Texas’ last visit in 2011. Smart was asked: “You have Texas this year. Do you consider them to be one of the best, and what stands out to you about them?” “Every team we play is the best that week,” Smart deadpanned. “Please understand that. In the SEC, humility is a week away.” Well, maybe not in Austin. Even legendary Alabama coach-turned-analyst Nick Saban was taken aback by requests to butter up the Horns. “What kinda tickles me is all these people asking these questions about how Texas always ran the conference they were in,” Saban said. “They’re not gonna run the SEC. There’s a whole lot of arrogant people in a lot of places in the SEC. You know about that. They’ll be a great team and a great program, and Sark will do a great job, but that’s not gonna be a problem.” Sarkisian said Texas’ goal is to contend for the conference championship. No problem with that. That’s what every SEC team aspires to do. But even that was said with an air of superiority. “At the University of Texas, the standard is the standard,” he said. “Part of that standard is our culture. Our culture is what makes us who we are. We take a lot of pride in our culture. We pour into our culture. We are a very connected group. We love one another. We work with one another. That’s not going to change.” It’s not like there isn’t standards and great cultures elsewhere in the SEC. Georgia, which won national championships in 2021 and 2022, has it. Alabama, which won six national titles under Saban, has it. LSU, which won a national title in 2019 and is aiming for a third straight season with at least ten wins, has it. Other teams have strong cultures or are building them. Texas’ football program doesn’t offer anything the SEC already has. Not even corn dogs. It’s just that SEC corn dogs weren’t at the State Fair. They were in Baton Rouge.
  6. TEXAS A&M AGGIES Carter Karels, GigEm247 Compared to the average preseason, fan anticipation for this season is high, medium or low? Why? High. They have a new head coach, in Mike Elko. They still have a lot of the best players from their vaunted 2022 recruiting class, including QB Conner Weigman, DE Shemar Stewart and safety Bryce Anderson. They brought in one of the best transfer classes in the country, led by DE Nic Scourton (Purdue). Perhaps most importantly, A&M has its most favorable schedule in years. The Aggies will not play Alabama or Georgia, and their four biggest games (Notre Dame, Missouri, LSU and Texas) are all at home. Coming off a 7-6 season, A&M is not expecting a rebuild. The Aggies expect an awesome season. What record would be a passable season for Texas A&M? 9-3. With its favorable schedule, A&M has a huge opportunity to make a splash in Elko's first season. The Aggies would make that splash by going at least 10-2. While a 9-3 record probably will not get you into the 12-team CFP, 10-2 likely will if you are an SEC team. Still, 9-3 would be good for an A&M program that hasn't gotten over the eight-win hump very much in recent memory. The Aggies have finished a season with nine wins only twice in the last decade. Also, their over/under win total in Vegas is at 8.5. Your fanbase's reaction to the new-look SEC is ... Annoyed. Texas A&M joined the SEC to get away from Texas and create its own identity. While the Aggies have not been world beaters in the SEC, they have done a nice job of building their brand and becoming a program that cannot be overlooked nationally. Now, the Longhorns are back in the SEC and have all the makings of a team that could win big immediately. It has the feeling of a high school reunion where the guy who got bullied feels like he is better than his bully after all these years, but then the bully shows up in a Lambo. Is NIL alignment at your program above average, average or below average. Why? Above average. Texas A&M's NIL collective, Texas Aggies United, will not disclose much publicly. But the Aggies are among the best in the NIL game and have shown that under Elko. It is a big reason why they had one of the best transfer portal classes and have been very impressive with their 2025 recruiting. What issue keeps your fanbase up at night? Texas joining the SEC and being immediately amazing. Aggie fans might not want to admit it, but I am sure the thought of the Longhorns coming into their conference and immediately winning big would make them want to vomit. It is why it is crucial for Elko to take advantage of this schedule and have a very successful first season
