  2. Liucci on the radio this morning. Just said that King is the best QB in the state, and better than Card. This is months after saying Hornsby & Card were the 2 best in state. Mind you, King's tape hasn't changed since then.
  3. After offer, A&M jumps into group of top schools for Haynes King VIP By BRIAN PERRONI After leading his team to an undefeated season and a state title this past season, Longview quarterback Haynes King has found himself a wanted man in college recruiting circles. The 6-foot-2.5, 183-pound junior has picked up offers from a number of top schools. The latest to extend one was Texas A&M as Aggie offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Darrell Dickey went by the East Texas school last week to see the four-star prospect. "Coach Dickey came by the school," King said. "He came in and watched me throw and then I found out they were offering me." King, the son of Longview head coach John King, had been building a relationship with Dickey even prior to the offer. "We've talked previously," the nation's No. 109 overall prospect said of the Aggies. "We started in about January and then we stayed in contact. I really didn't know an offer was coming though. I pretty much just stay to myself with most of that stuff. I was really busy with basketball at the time and then moving on to track, so I really wasn't paying attention to all that. "Now all this is speeding up, occupying most of my time." Jimbo Fisher has put a number of quarterbacks in the NFL and that is something that Dickey at least made King aware of. However, the Aggie assistant knows his audience and hasn't pushed too hard. "He talked to me a little bit about coach Fisher's history with quarterbacks, but not too much," King said of Dickey. "They're not that type and I respect that. They're not going to blow my phone up with all kinds of stuff. But he did definitely mention the quarterbacks he's had and coach Fisher has had. And we talked about a little more things on that aspect of A&M." With the seasons for his other sports now over, King is looking at figuring out his official visit schedule. "I really don't know right now," he said of any details about his officials. "I believe we are going to go up to A&M and a couple more places. I've been a little busy. Track just ended, so I've just finally got some time on my hands this past couple weeks. My dad and I talked a little bit about it but we haven't yet decided any certain dates or any of that." King has a few things he wants to see in his college of choice. "I'm looking for the main school that offers me the best opportunity to grow and prosper in that system and to be able to develop as a quarterback," he said. "Not only just as a quarterback, but as a person and also in my education." Though he is only just now beginning to really focus on recruiting, King admits that some schools are standing out at the moment. "There are a few," he said. "I'd say Tennessee, A&M, Auburn, possibly Duke, Baylor, TCU, Arkansas. It's really the main schools that have been keeping in touch with me. I've built a relationship with those coaches. Pretty much, whatever I'm looking for in a school, they all fit that checklist." King, who plans to graduate early and enroll at his school of choice in January, threw for 3,877 yards and 42 touchdowns with only four interceptions while completing 69 percent of his passes as a junior. He also ran for 664 yards and eight scores
  4. A&M's new 2020 offers: Where do the Aggies stand? VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 10 minutes ago Share 0 Comments [https://s3media](Photo: Mike Roach, 247Sports) Just like with other schools across college football, the Texas A&M coaches have been on the road the past few weeks for the spring evaluation period. Coaches make several stops every day and each could be for different reasons. They could be there to see their top targets or they could be doing evaluations for potential offers. Sometimes, the visits are just to see and be seen as they make sure to keep contact with high schools in their region. Though much of the evaluation being done by the Aggies is with underclassmen, a few class of 2020 prospects have been offered as of late as well. Here's a look at the most recent offers and where things stand. Earlier this week, A&M made a much-anticipated offer to Longview quarterback Haynes King. The 6-foot-2.5, 183-pound dual-threat prospect seems a perfect fit for the offense after throwing for 3,877 yards and 42 touchdowns with only four interceptions as a junior. He also ran for 664 yards and eight scores en route to leading Longview to a state title. Though King is high on Baylor and TCU as well, he is enamored with the SEC. LSU was seen as an early favorite, but the Tigers already have a pair of four-star quarterbacks committed. King is also looking at Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee and now A&M. It would not be a surprise to see the East Texan make it down to College Station soon. Last weekend, A&M offered an all-purpose back during an unofficial visit to campus. Jabari Small out of Memphis (Tenn.) Briarcrest is listed as an 'athlete' but was offered as a do-everything back by A&M. He could line up in the backfield or in the slot at different times. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound junior has picked up a number of new offers as of late but his trip to Aggieland, despite not holding an A&M offer at the time, showed his very real interest. He will almost assuredly return on an official visit at some point, likely with national top-100 offensive tackle teammate Omari Thomas. This past weekend, Texas A&M defensive tackles coach Isaiah Robinson made his way to Pittsburgh, which is part of his recruiting territory. One of the offers he extended was to Westinghouse defensive lineman Dayon Hayes. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound defender is ranked as a tackle but could also be a strongside defensive end. A mid-three-star prospect, Hayes has seen a number of big offers as of late, including from Ohio State and Penn State. The Aggies have not landed a player from Western PA in a long time, if possibly ever. Because of that and also the big regional offers, Hayes will be a tough pull. Another recent defensive line offer by Robinson was to Isaiah Raikes of Richland (N.J.) St. Augustine. He was in town on an unofficial visit with new Aggie commit Fadil Diggs, a close friend. Should A&M push hard, the Aggies are in good shape with the 6-foot-0.5, 324-pound defender. With Joe Jon Finley now on staff in Aggieland after having come over from Missouri, A&M is recruiting both Kansas City and St. Louis heavily. Not surprisingly, A&M has now offered the top recruit from Kansas City in Raytown four-star cornerback Dontae Manning. The 6-foot, 175-pound national top-100 prospect committed to Oklahoma in the middle of last month, though, and seems solid in his pledge. At the cornerback spot, Maurice Linguist made a trip to Kansas this past week to check in on a number of junior college prospects. He saw a pair of players the Aggies had already offered in Nadab Joseph of Independence and Brian George of Highland. Neither of those lists the Aggies in their top groups, though. However, Linguist also made his way to Hutchinson to check out Art Green. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defender was offered by the Aggies after that trip. Green recorded six interceptions as a freshman a year ago and the Missouri native has seen a number of new offers come his way as of late. Green and Blinn College's Marco Domioare the two junior college corners A&M is in the best shape with, though the latter is much more likely to end up in Aggieland. Last week, A&M made its way to Tyler John Tyler and offered speedy four-star athlete Kitan Crawford. Though he also plays running back, the Aggies like the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder at cornerback. Crawford had recently named a top three of Baylor, Tennessee and Texas. He has officially visited Tennessee while Texas has all of the Crystal Ball predictions. The Aggies are going to try to make it a top four, but it could be tough with him having narrowed things down already

  13. Umanmielen spends day at A&M, likes what he sees at scrimmage VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 33 minutes ago On Wednesday, Texas A&M held its final scrimmage of the spring. While the Aggies have mostly had visitors on the weekends, one big target was in town for the scrimmage this week. Manor four-star defensive end Princely Umanmielen will be at Texas for the spring game this weekend but wanted to make it to Aggieland before the end of spring ball. "Coach Price texted me asking me to go down," the 6-foot-4, 256-pound defender said while on his way back home. "I was supposed to go down there last week but I couldn't make it. So, he said if I could make it this Wednesday, it would be great. So I came down." Umanmielen says the visit was a low-pressure affair as he continued to make himself comfortable in Aggieland. "It was good. I had a lot fun," he said. "I got to watch them scrimmage and talk to the coaches and pretty much just keep familiarizing myself with A&M. "I talked to a lot of the coaches. A lot of it was the same stuff that we always talk about. They told me how important I was to them and that they really wanted me there. Umanmielen came away impressed with the defensive side of the ball. "They scrimmaged and I watched the defense really close," he said. "I liked the speed of their game. They were really getting after the quarterback, putting a lot of pressure on the quarterback." Umanmielen does not have any official visits scheduled yet, but that could change soon. "Oklahoma has talked to me about setting up an official but I haven't done so yet. I'll probably take a couple this spring or summer and then a couple more later. Then I'll make a decision." Though he is still open to others, Umanmielen says a quartet of schools have his close attention at this point. "A&M, OU and Texas, they are all still up there," he said. "Today definitely helped A&M in my eyes. It does every time I'm there. Oregon, they're also up there now. They offered recently and I've been talking to them a lot.
  14. Not really, but I'll keep checking
  15. Texas A&M hosting some big names the next few days VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 67 minutes ago Share 5 Comments (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports) With Spring Break over and practice for spring ball having officially begun, Texas A&M will be hosting a number of top prospects over the new few days. On Thursday, Little Elm four-star cornerback Ryan Watts made his way to town for the first time since being offered at the Super Bowl party early last month. The 6-foot-2.5, 187-pound defender is planning to spend the entire day in Aggieland. On Friday, Texas A&M is set to host its highest-rated target in the class of 2020. North Shore five-star running back Zachary Evans, ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the country, plans to make his way to Aggieland on Friday and then spend the night, staying around to attend practice on Saturday. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior has been set to be in town before recently but did not end up making the trip for the Super Bowl party. If he arrives, it will be a big chance for Jimbo Fisher and Co. to make up ground with him. The Aggies will also have a big out-of-state visitor arriving Friday as well Orem, Utah, four-star athlete Noah Sewell, who most are recruiting as a linebacker, will make his way into town on Friday and stay the night, leaving on Saturday. The 6-foot-2, 266-pound junior is ranked as the No. 78 overall prospect in the country. This will be his first-ever trip to the Lone Star State. At the moment, all seven Crystal Ball predictions are for Oregon. On Saturday, the Aggies will see a pair of national top-100 sophomore offensive linemen in town. Katy Taylor guard Bryce Foster, who recently listed A&M among his top four schools, is making the short drive with his parents to take in practice and to meet new offensive line coach Josh Henson. The 6-foot-4.5, 318-pound class of 2021 standout is coming off a very good performance at the Houston Opening regional camp. The Offensive Line MVP of that Houston Opening camp, though, was Houston Episcopal class of 2021 tackle Donovan Jackson. The first player in the class to be offered by the Aggies, the 6-foot-4, 308-pound sophomore has long been high on the Maroon and White5COMMENTS Aggie four-star offensive line commit Smart Chibuzoof Fort Bend Hightower is headed to see Auburn and Alabama with his Fast7v7 teammates this weekend but plans to make his way to College Station as well. He will be in town on Friday morning. With a new position coach, he is looking at all his options. However, several sources have mentioned how much he and his family like Aggieland. Next weekend, A&M will likely host several more big names. One of those already confirmed is Foster's teammate at Katy Taylor, four-star sophomore offensive tackle Hayden Conner. He also has visits to Stanford and Texas coming up in the next month as well
  16. 4-star DE Princely Umanmielen talks recent, productive A&M visit VIP ByDAMON SAYLES 15 minutes ago One of the rising names in Texas high school football, defensive end Princely Umanmielen attends Manor High School but has an Austin, Texas, home address. Manor is minutes away from is home -- and his home also happens to be minutes away from the University of Texas. Living in Austin, Umanmielen said he's constantly approached by a Texas Longhorns fan asking when he'll commit to the hometown school. What many around him don't understand is that Umanmielen is wide open with his recruiting process -- and Texas A&M is one of the schools very much alive in his recruitment. He visited College Station last Friday and said he thoroughly enjoyed the trip. "That was my second time there," said Umanmielen, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end. "It was fun, probably the most fun visit I've been on. I really liked the facilities. Everything was cool." Umanmielen added: "Everybody around here's already calling me a Texas commit. I don't hate it, but I have to tell everyone that I'm not committed anywhere. I don't know where I'm going right now." Recruited to Texas A&M by defensive end Terry Price, Umanmielen spoke highly of the Aggies' defensive front. When he and Price aren't having light-hearted conversations and cracking jokes, they are speaking in depth about how Umanmielen would fit in the 4-2-5 scheme. "I like the defense they run. I like the four-man front," Umanmielen said. "He [Price] showed me if I went there where and how I'd play. I play strong end, so I would get a lot of opportunities to be up front and not get double-teamed." Umanmielen is coming off a junior season where he recorded 45 tackles (21 for loss), 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles for Manor. He helped the Mustangs advance two rounds deep in the Class 5A Division I playoffs. He defines himself as "physical and fast," as he's run the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds at an Arkansas camp last summer. It was a camp where the Razorbacks offered him after his performance. Umanmielen has 19 reported offers but said LSU, Texas and Oklahoma are three schools that he's considering, along with Texas A&M. He has plans of making his first trip to LSU on March 22. "With recruiting, it's been a good problem to have. It's fun and stressful at the same time," he said. "If I'm ready, I want to be committed somewhere before next season starts. I'd like to do that, but if I'm not ready, it'll be around [December] signing day." Umanmielen is ranked the No. 15 strong-side defensive end and No. 336 player overall in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked the No. 48 player from the state of Texas
