"Quinn's a kid with faith and struggles with being in Austin."

Think Tim Robinson GIF by NETFLIX

After all, it's REALLY a struggle as a red-blooded 20 year old to coexist with all the heathens in Austin. I bet Quinn prays for forgiveness everyday as he collects millions in NIL and drives around in his Aston Martin with his bleach-blonde Chi Omega girlfriend.

With Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and five player representatives at Big 12 Media Days in Arlington on Wednesday, the school released the roster for the 2023 season, the final campaign for the Longhorns before moving to the SEC.

    • Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe is listed at 274 pounds, up 14 pounds from last season.
    • Senior defensive lineman Alfred Collins is listed at 317 pounds, up 26 pounds from last season.
    • Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Zac Swanson is now wearing No. 96 and is listed at 270 pounds, up 13 pounds from last season.
    • Minnesota transfer defensive lineman Trill Carter will wear No. 98 and is listed at 6’2, 300 pounds.
    • Freshman defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell is listed at 335 pounds, down 25 pounds since the spring.

It’s great that Quinn is getting fit, but 195 lbs seems pretty light… Hope he still has enough on his frame to absorb hits and a few cheap shots from Bama (they will 100% try to pull that shit again).

  3.
McKinley's mom sounds super impressive ... quite an interview.
“My biggest thing was academics, and they answered all of those questions. I had a one-on-one conversation with the academics of his choice. It was very informative.”
McKinley plans to major in computer science at whichever school he picks.

247Sports five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley is one of the more sought after prospects in the class of 2024. A product of Lafayette (La.) Acadiana, McKinley is coming off a quartet of official visits to Ohio State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Texas in the month of June. The latter came the final weekend before the Dead Period.
“Meeting with them on a more personal level,” Angie McKinley, Dominick’s mother, told Horns247 of what she enjoyed about the family’s second visit to Austin. “We had more time to actually talk to them and talk to the coaches and Coach Bo Davis. I find that they are a family environment. They answered all of our questions. They were very informative. I want to be able to present Dominick with all the information from all of the colleges he’s visited, and let him make an informed decision, not just based off what he sees. I like getting facts so I can say hey this is what’s going on at this school, this school, and this school, and let him make an informed decision. But not only that … for him it’s like a brotherhood. Who does he relate best to? And is he comfortable with the coaches, mainly the position coach, because that’s who he’s going to be in contact with most. I felt like they did a very good job of welcoming us in and attending to our needs, as far as our questions being answered.

On the football side of things, defensive line coach Bo Davis has Texas high in the running for McKinley’s commitment.
“He’s very personal,” Angie McKinley said. “He’s personalized to Dominick. This is what I can do for you to help grow you, not just as an athlete, but as a student athlete. My biggest thing is I’m passing on the baton. I’m a single mom. I want someone I can pass the baton on to that’s going to continue him to be the best Christian, the best husband, the best father, citizen that he can be. I feel confident in Coach Davis with the things he’s talked to me about. I feel the confidence that he’ll steer him in the right direction and make good decisions.”
McKinley’s mother says they plan to return at some point in the fall to see the game-day atmosphere in Austin.
As for where things stand with all schools involved, the family is still in the process of trying to narrow things down.
“Across the board, they’re making it very hard,” Angie McKinley said. “You do build these relationships with the coaches and they’re calling and texting. They’re talking to you and saying how they can grow your child. I really can’t say what preference he has or I have, because they’re all just great.”
McKinley’s mother would like to see things start to settle down prior to the fall.
‘I’m asking that he kind of narrow it down before the season starts, so that he way he doesn’t have to focus on that,” she said. “Ultimately if he feels like he needs more time to decide, then he’ll do that. But I would like for him to do it before his actual season starts, so he doesn’t have to worry about it.”

  4. They’re recruiting better than I thought they would. Gerry said that if Kobe Black and Simmons aren’t committed by the end of July, then they may be more into aggy than Texas realized. Hard to believe.

Yup. Evan Stewart and Bryce Anderson were Texas locks… Until they weren’t.

    Never underestimate aggy desperation.

Looking at their schedule, I’ll be shocked if they do better than 7-5…

-Slim odds that they beat Tennessee at Neyland or LSU in Death Valley
-Alabama is replacing a lot, but they still have an 80% win percentage vs A&M all time
-They face Ole Miss on the road, and Kiffin has their number
    -South Carolina returns Rattler
-Miami should be much better in year 2 under Cristobal
-Arkansas has a senior QB under center (KJ Jefferson), loaded up in the portal and will be highly motivated (they gave away the game last year)
-Auburn should be MUCH better under Hugh Freeze and with Phil Montgomery as OC
-Miss State won’t have the pirate (RIP), but this match up has usually been a toss up historically

  6. Bussy celebrating the Coleman commit on teitter

I’m 100% fine with aggy allocating their bags towards WR… Even with Petrino’s influence, Jimbo will continue to squander their talent. And the secondary will probably be a team strength for the Longhorns in ‘24 with guys like Muhammad, Black, Williams, Brooks, Johnson-Rubell, Mack, etc.
  7. Maybe this is wish-casting, but similarly to BlowU, I think LSU is in real danger of disappearing a-la Nebraska because of NIL.
*edit - Not overnight, but over a period of 5-10 years.

LSU is one of the “cool” schools for this generation of high schoolers — they’ll be fine. Recruits have fresh memories of Joe Burrow dominating in ‘19 and their feeds are littered with Livvy Dunne on Tiktok.
