Schools in Charlotte suck, but it is a nice town.
Yup, we overheard a Charlotte dad complaining about sending his kid to a $25k per year elementary school… Oof.

I’d be hard pressed to pick many souther cities over Austin. Seems like you’re in tech? That’s Austin. But Austin iss probably close to twice as expensive as Charlotte in housing
Industry isn’t a critical factor. We love Austin, so we’re leaning that way (something to be said for family and familiarity). I think our reservations lie in how much Austin has changed, the heat, and affordability (or lackthereof) of raising a family in a decent neighborhood/school system. Pros and cons to everywhere, I guess.
But transparently, as a late twenties/early thirties couple, I think we’re also spooked at the prospect of moving home, settling down, blinking and being sixty all of a sudden lol…

Surly brain trust — After a few years in the Research Triangle, I’ll be moving soon for a new job (the company’s RTP office is small and might hinder career opps). Should I move back to Austin or give it a go in Charlotte?
Factors to consider: Married w: no kids, we have family/friends in Austin, closest family to Charlotte is ~3 hrs…
Trying to weigh living somewhere familiar near loved ones vs. trying something new… On paper, the draw to Charlotte is COL, mild weather, moderate political climate and access to the mountains.

IT is hilarious that a poster on that site broke the scoop for Nahlin.
Yeah... I don't know where he came from, but @carsonsmith84 consistently seems to get info before the IT mods do haha. Pretty sure he told everyone the exact day Catalon would commit about a week before IT realized that the staff had serious interest...

Oh, you're just now coming to realize that your fantasy isn't going to be fulfilled? What are you, just waking up from a December '22 month-long bender?
In related news, I have to say that TheMailbox is fast out of the blocks for the 2023 award for Most Voluminous Yet Worthless Poster of the Year. He's like ZTejas and The Football Board stepped into at Telepod from The Fly and merged into an even more hideous posting monstrosity that is worse than the sum of their wretched parts. But lets not discount newcomer TheContractor, as it's a long year and the race to the bottom as always is fast and seemingly without limit.
In related news, if any of the above posters would be interested in a sub to Orangebloods, I'm sure we can croudsource some folks to pay for it if you promise to never, ever, return here. Like ever.Sorry, I should have specified: my Evan Stewart fantasy died a while ago...
You self-important ass. So important that you’ve accumulated 12,000 posts on surlyhorns — the mark of a truly successful life.

My Evan Stewart fantasy has pretty much died… He’ll flirt with us to hold aggy hostage a couple more years, but I doubt he’ll actually bolt.

5-wide with Mitchell, Worthy, Whittington, Neyor, and Cook will be absolutely filthy.

The prospect of poaching an NFL position coach was exciting until I realized Charlie Strong managed to coach for the Jaguars lol…

I don't have CTJ levels of hate for Nahlin, but I can't stand the guy and his reporting. What exactly is a 'professional program' supposed to mean? Sarkisian wants all his coaches to have NFL experience? That doesn't seem to be the case on for the defensive coaches. Andre Coleman played in the NFL or five seasons and even set Super Bowl records, but how did he turn out as a WR coach?
Eric Nahlin "publisher of Inside Texas", throwing more shit against the wall and hoping it sticks. If it weren't for Bobby and Gerry, IT would be completely useless.
Eric is also a petty, condescending bitch when any subscriber dares to question him…

IMO, they could’ve trimmed the first ~30 min of the movie and just started with the family fleeing to the island village… That said, my wife falls asleep during 99% of movies and was engaged for the full 3.5 hrs.
The last action set piece with the whale belly flop was truly spectacular and worth the price of admission.

In this new era, teams are gonna death-spiral when on field performance doesn’t align with NIL expectations. Money and donor support will dry up fast.

Sigh, this is a pointless exercise — they clearly aren’t telling…
…but I’ve got nothing better to do, so I’ll guess Lance St. Louis.

Just bought civ 6 after playing civ 5 for quite some time… It seems a lot more complex (and boring) thus far. Maybe it’ll just take some time to get used to the switch.
Never mind. Silly me — I can see how my life will slowly be consumed by Civ 6.

There aren’t 24 teams in CFB that’re better than us. 3 of our losses were to Bama, TCU and Washington by 1 score. Sucks that teams get penalized for playing tough opponents.

other than Sark looking like his offense sucks ass that was about the best result we could have hoped for.
Yeah, it’ll be absolutely awesome when Georgia snags ~5 of the top 15 recruits in Texas next year.

Sweet. Excited to have to deal with a Georgia dynasty entering the SEC. It’ll be insufferable.

Seconded — “The Menu” is hilarious and didn’t go where I expected. Definitely worth a watch.
