  1. She wouldn’t waste time with a finger prick. It would be a used airport metal detector that you walked through for a text. Some Xmas lights and crepe paper to redecorate it and you have a $20b market valuation.
  2. Convincing a narcissist to use a mental defect defense would be a fascinating exercise in reverse manipulation. She would have to be convinced that she can outsmart the prosecutor and jury by “faking” being a nutcase, when in fact she is. She’ll never take the stand but if she did that testimony and cross would be amazing to see.
  3. ^^^ This guy...... he gets it. Spot on. In the depths of anxiety it can be difficult, but it is a relief. Being of service consistently is any fashion Is a sure fire way to help ward off anxiety in the first place. Making it a habit will provide some measure of insulation. Volunteering at a food bank, soup kitchen, or animal shelter on the regular will do a world of good. Nothing beats working with other drunks, but there are countless ways to be of service.
  4. AA Workshop - Pushing Forward To Your New Life AA Workshop - Hope for Tomorrow Living in the Moment The Basics of Awakening, Again Those are a few I have flagged on AudioJoy. ( I really like that app and also add SoberCast podcast for some variety. ) I'm not sure if they are searchable by those titles elsewhere or those titles are specific to AudioJoy. Pretty much anything from him is beneficial for me.
  5. @ztejas I get it. It sucks. I've always trended toward anxiety...sometime debilitating. Since becoming sober, one of my crutches I lean on to help me (besides all the other things you are rightfully doing) is to listen to recordings of Sandy Beach talking about emotional sobriety and more importantly, recognizing the tape I play in my mind and the story my ego creates. Once I am reminded of what I'm doing, it is easier to get a reset and some relief. He really helps me boil things down. AudioJoy is an app that has a lot of his talks and even some of his workshops. He really helps me. Anyway....maybe that's something to put in your arsenal. Keep doing what you are doing. It does pass. God speed.
  6. To me, the language of the heart is anything that is gut level honest about sharing (or hearing.... as Bear said) our common experience, strength, and hope. It's being open and vulnerable and knowing I need you and you need me....without my ego or self-centered mind getting in the way.
  7. Investigative and arresting bullshit aside....... The vests in that video make me laugh. Those badasses look like 400lb women trying to wear a training bra. There is more fat exposed than covered - at least one didn't appear it could even be fastened.
  8. I had to laugh! Those bean fields are a goose magnet, but that's unforgiving terrain when it freezes. Never thought I'd miss swatting mosquitoes and sweating my balls off in a marsh but I did.
  9. Worst I ever had was hunting a frozen soybean field. Laying down and took two quick shots straight up or maybe even a bit backward on a high flying specklebelly with 3 1/2’s. Hard ground underneath, hard recoil from on top and a bad position with the butt took its toll.
  10. I only collect that which shoots, but I love browsing the auctions and shops that have the non-weapon stuff. Very interesting.
  11. Damn.......That's a lot to "lean into". Thanks for that phrasing and the lesson on how you applied it. Sounds like your God is the same one with whom I try to maintain contact. The grace is there to to help us navigate the human experience; not to give us a free pass to avoid that human experience.
  12. 2020.......in any language you choose.
  13. I think that's a similar genetic code which makes Auodad so wary. God built them survive north African cats so that's why they seem to react as if a .270 in the shoulder is a welcome relief to what they think was trying to "get them". And that's where the comparison stops - because as delicious as Axis are, Auodad....well, they aren't "delicious".
  14. Plenty of places to go that are not “all inclusive” if convenience is the driving factor vs. the fixed price aspect of all inclusive. Hell, New Orleans or Vegas meet that criteria and your walks form the hotel to plenty of bars or restaurants would be commiserate with an “all inclusive”. Multiple Vegas properties have enough options inside their doors that you’d never have to walk outside and would never duplicate a meal or bar for days. Some place along 30A or plenty of beach resorts on the south east coast would qualify as having numerous dining options a short stroll from your door. Unless you mean “lock my wallet in the safe once I arrived on site” type of all inclusive, that may not be the best descriptor of that which you seek.
  15. Thanks..... Low fence north of Fredericksburg on 16. He might get ground checked by a bow hunter this year if he messes up. Next year he’s a gun deer for sure based on my group’s system.
  16. Bad picture / old camera. Decent buck. We passed him last year.
  17. Look at you and your fancy garnish on that platter. All fancyfied with the butter on a plate and not just passing it around in the wrapper........Looks great!!!
  18. ^^^^exactly all of this. He’ll conscientiously object to your contract at some point.
  19. Oh- and situation or “problem” was solved with a zip tie. We went from someone stranded alone, 500 miles from home and inaccessible by wrecker service......with family members frantically prepping for a 2-day “rescue” to a non-issue in a matter of moments and a google search. My view (take it with a grain of salt) is that no one’s God either caused the event or created the fix. Mine simply gave me some peace and serenity to approach the situation calmly and pragmatically and pause before screaming fire!!! Another lesson that the promises come true if I work for them - and can practice what I know will work.

  21. I’m literally living this right now. As in ....between when I posted that above and this reply. Something happened to a family member.... no one’s life is in danger but it’s a major hiccup and an inconvenience- will make for an interesting few days. 3rd family member is already calling me making plans of action for Monday and beyond - we don’t even know if those plans will be a) needed and b) warranted. I said we need to see if “x” solves it and if not then what happens when we “y” before we plan for “z”. i was told I’m being too cavalier. I explained that was not the case and we just need to see what plays out before we put wheels in motion for the worst case that may never come. I’m working to help fix the situation we have this very moment and will deal with other situations as they come up. Not catastrophizing future events is something I’ve been embracing only since I found this program in sobriety. i try to look at things as situations and not problems. Simply casting them into a different light via a shift in semantics works wonders for me.... most of the time!!!!
  22. Hence the fact that he keeps telling me black in on white pages. I need to go RE-RE-RE- read. Perfect example. Thanks.
  23. Yeah- the old adage is for me to only read the black print on the white pages and set aside what I think it says until I really read and absorb it. The Charlie Wilson clip / the parable of the farmer are that beam I strive to fly. Pain is what causes me to know it’s time to recalibrate course. Often times, my best prayer in the morning is simply “Ok God.... whatever.” And at night....simply “Oh well.”
  24. *****Porn Warning***** Rock Island Auction Get your bids in boys.
  25. It’s a bit of a red headed step child cartridge when it comes to self/home defense. Ballistics testing gives that theory merit when compared with the 9mm and others but that’s in comparison only. It’s not inherently a “bad” round. If it’s what one has and more importantly what one shoots well and with confidence, then it can be an effective round (especially with some of the more modern bullet designs). No one wants to be shot with it. It’ll ruin your day for sure. Nothing “wrong” with it but there are better options if all other things are equal. There've been plenty of dead husbands laying at the feet of angry wives who were armed with a .380.
