Had a convo with one of my brothers that I don't talk to much anymore. ICE came up. We disagree on a lot of it, but at least he would listen. The main point I tried to drive home is that the idea that immigrants are to blame for all of our problems is not new. This has been used time and time and time again because it always works. Just think about it from that perspective and it's a lot easier to see through all the bullshit for what it really is. No idea if it will make a difference, but hopefully it made him think.
Finally got around to installing hardware on our utility room pocket door three years after the door was installed. Not perfect but turned out alright for my first try. Now to paint the door.
I hear this same shit all the time from people who never got the vaccine and nothing happened to them. It was kind of half ass mandated for like two weeks four years ago. Cool.
And most people give no shits. I've probably been following along more closely than I should for my own sanity, but even bringing up the subject with people gets a laugh or an eye roll and they move on with their days. I don't think people have any idea what's coming. I can't even fully grasp how bad it can get. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not sure how we avoid it at this point.
We'll probably get fucked in September or October, but this Summer has kicked ass honestly. If they could all be like this my pissing and moaning would reduce significantly.
I'd be curious to see if women voting against women outnumbers men voting for women. The vast majority of men I know would never vote for a woman. I have no clue how many of the women I know feel the same way.
Lots of homemade bike ramps on our street. I had a shitty Huffy while the neighbor kids had Mongoose Villains. Bastards. I did eventually get a Diamondback.
This is what we did. I wanted our dog buried in our yard. I was worried they wouldn't let me, but they were fine with it. We went with someone coming to our house and while it was still awful, it was probably as good as it could have been.
I think this is a lot of us. I already live 500 miles away from most of my family, but since the election I'm now the outcast. I hardly talk to any of them. They don't reach out to me and I don't reach out to them. It sucks, but I can't pretend I'm just okay with all of this.
I keep going back to overhearing my family at Thanksgiving talking about how the economy was going to 'turn back on around June'. Seems like that hasn't exactly panned out. Who could have guessed?
