  1. My wife's wordle looked identical to yours, though she only had the last 3 guesses (five of 6 correct) like your last 4! Her first fail! I showed her your GIF and she appreciated it as her 7th guess was going to be the same as one of your last 4.

  3. Went with my HS buds (one an Oregon grad) for Oregon vs. # 18 Utah before Utah joined Pac-10. September 19, 2009, Ducks won 31-24 . It was a great atmosphere and cool stadium imo. Fans were engaged. I wore Oregon colors, cheered hard for the Ducks, but also wore my Longhorn hat. My friend's sister could not fathom my split allegiance. Drank pre-game beers using our just-finished coffee cups en route to game to avoid attention while dealing with parking, cops, etc. Even did a "coffee" cheers to one of the policemen (which seemed pretty no nonsense). We thought we were genius with that move. Later that night watched the Horns take vengeance against Tech (Kindle destruction of Potts game) on their championship run.

  6. Ha! That happened at the Pit in my hometown. One of the most iconic moments in NCAA history. Great memory though obviously painful for UH fans. As far as heartbreaks for me, Horns losing to UA in 2011 NCAA tournament on that bogus 3.8-second 5 second call about tops for me. I seethed for days after that.
  7. Here's another bball one (would like to extend this topic to other sports at some point, including football): Black Jersey game, #1 Duke vs. #2 Texas, 12/10/05 My brother and I walked into an Irish bar shortly after opening near downtown Santa Fe, about 10 am. Hopes were high - #2 Horns vs. the #1 dookies; we ordered a pitcher of breakfast beer about 10:15 mountain time. PJ Tucker, LaMarcus Aldridge, et al. Shortly thereafter the Duke fans start trickling in and we were soon outnumbered about 3 tables to 1. The Horns (feebly) tried to keep it close a bit in the first half, but the dookies and jj redick blew the doors off in the second. I'll never forget that feeling from those pious Duke fans looking down on us while we sipped our early morning beer. And they were pretty fucking gratuitous with their high-fiving well after the game was in control. We felt like some lonely Longhorn fans that didn't belong in the big leagues. This JJ Reddick interview of PJ Tucker added some laughs after the years. And I was definitely in agreement about never using those black unis again!! https://youtu.be/7iMqtTCz_SE It's time for Beard to bring the Horns back into an arena like that with balls dragging.
  8. Seems like a good off-season topic that I haven't seen sussed out yet: A chronicle of fond or unexpected game-watching or listening memories. Like catching a game during a wedding, or maybe on vacation somewhere exotic and you miraculously get the game...watching a game while meeting your significant other, conceiving your first child, ha!, etc... l'lI start. March 23, 2006 (Texas-WVU Sweet 16) - I was floating the San Juan River from Sand Wash to Mexican Hat in Southeast Utah with friends including my brother and now wife (all of us UT grads). It's about a 3 day float and no cell coverage or civilization, etc..Anyway, I knew we'd be missing the Sweet 16 games but oh well, that float is great. Turns out my brother brought a portable radio so I decided to try and find the game on the AM dial. Boom! Not only did I get the game, I got Craig Way and the Longhorn broadcast on 1200 WOAI out of San Antonio - game was late in the first half by that point. Listened to the entire second half of that glorious game via headphones as the group went to bed. As I'm sure many of you know, getting AM after dark from a long way away from everything is dicey and sometimes aggravating. The signal oft diminishes or gets swallowed up by another feed. Not that night. No better place to hear Kenton Paulino's buzzer beater game winner against WVU and Pitsnogle (who had just tied things up seconds before) than leaning against a sandstone outcrop along the banks of the San Juan with the moonlight and the stars. Did the proverbial "it's goooood!" raising of the arms and danced around the camp. Next morning we had a Hawaiian-themed breakfast with macadamia nut pancakes and pina coladas. Good times.

    Moody Center

Very nice!! Minor quibble would be to have bleachers in lower bowl - might make things more rowdy down there and promote more standing and cheering. Always feel like chair back seats tend to make fans more inclined to stay seated and sit on their hands.

I like the court design. Simple with a prominent Longhorn logo at center court, colors look good and it is not overly busy. Everyone knows the Longhorn logo means Texas so I am not a fan of a state of Texas map underneath it = redundant. Burnt orange lines probably easier to spot. The problem is they add clutter and would cut the Longhorn logo in half at midcourt. Maybe white lines also intentional = advantage home team because we'll be used to finding a less prominent white three point line?
  11. I'm also a Musberger fan; his 4th and inches Roll Left call for 96 Big 12 championship was well done. https://youtu.be/igWLuCfPnc4
  12. I agree with both these posts - I still have my BMW T-shirt and Tom Pender's Horns teams got me hooked on Texas bball. Then Barnes came and built on Pender's success but took it to another level. The only thing I'd add is that in hindsight we probably would have had better results on the court (in short term at least) keeping Barnes around a few more years.
  13. This is very cool to see.
  14. ill also be the first time since 1995 the Horns enter NCAAs on a winning streak - five games and counting.
  15. They cut the nets after elite eight regional final win in San Antonio (2003) against Michigan State
  16. That's right. Not my pronouncement. Just recognizing somebody else's good work. A long, long time lurker.
  17. Very underrated post describing Surly. This part worth repeating: "I turned him onto Surly and he was like WTF is wrong with your fans they're dark and arrogant. I said yeah but we eat our own but respect wit. Wit is most important. He didnt understand for some reason."
  18. The And Stand. Was a (rare) food truck near campus in the early 90's. Fried rice and bean and cheeser fueling station us geologists would would frequent after physics lab at death star RLM. "And nothing else" is how every order ended for me.
